Hey Losers!!!

We're back from our Disney cruise and had a blast. Unfortuntely my weigh in today showed a 3.8 gain :guilty: I think I'm still retaining some water from traveling and hope to get rid of another pound in the next day or so.

I'm now at 157, so 8 pounds to get into those 140's. I'm working out hard again and back to eating OP, so I know I'll get there soon.

Oh, you have to enjoy yourself on the cruise! The food is SO good! We have been on 6 of them and our 7th will be next March. I am hoping to be at my goal weight by the time we go in March 2006, but I am sure I will have a gain by the time I get back.

So how was the weather? Did you have a nice day at Castaway Cay? Was it a 7 night, 4 night or 3 night? If it was a 7 night and you only gained 3.8 then you did great! I am expecting to gain at least that amount on our 4 night. :rotfl:

DJ

Tara - I like your thinking ;)

I was actually surprised I had gained so much since I thought I had done really well with my eating, didn't drink as much alcohol as I thought and got plenty of exercise walking up and down the stairs.

I will be doing a trip report and posting some pictures, just I'll give you a quick rundown.

Food was good, lots of choices. Rooms are small, but plenty big for the 4 of us and we were hardly there anyways. We were on deck 2, so not much swaying for us. I had trouble with my tummy the first night, but I think it was from all the excitement, not to mention the "few" drinks I had, the tylenol PM I took to help me sleep and that first meal (my tummy was rebeling). AFter that, we all slept great.

We did the 7 night western and it was way too short. We would do a 10 day next time and I would definitely cruise Disney even without the kids. They had tons of activites for adults. Our first stop was Key West, where we rented the electric cars. Drove around the island for about 2 hours and saw all the sights. Our next stop was Grand Cayman. We did the Stingray City excursion, which was alittle disappointing. The girls were FREAKED out with the stingrays (me too alittle) and the water was VERY choppy. Our third stop was Cozumel and we did a Disney excursion, Catarmaran, Snorkel and Beach tour and that was the BEST. The kids had a blast snorkeling, they had FREE margaritas :earboy2: and we had great fun with the people we met through the DIS board. Castaway Cay was the last and BEST stop. The weather was gorgeous, water was SO beautiful and those Conch coolers were YUMMY :teeth:

We were so lucky to have the best weather through out the whole cruise, not too hot and not too cold (I have found that since I've lost the weight, I'm colder, so having the warmer temps was great for me).

Okay, think that's about it. I'll do a complete trip report for you guys to check out if you want. Would definitely do another cruise in a heartbeat

I finally have access to a computer, I have been having problems with my internet connection at home so I have not been able to get online for the past several days.

I have lost 2 of the 5 lbs I gained and am working hard to lose the last few pounds. I have switched my exercise time from evening to morning. This means I now start my day at 4:30 am, but this sure make it easier to protect my exercise time. When I exercised at night I found to many things to sneak in and take up my time, at least in the morning there is nothing to interupt my time.

I do have one question, for anyone who exercises first thing in the morning. Do you eat a light snack/breakfast and than exercise or do you exercise first and than eat something? Currently, I am drinking water before and during exercise and than eating a piece of fruit on the way into work. Than about 8:00/8:30 and am having a small bowl of ceral with milk and a banana. This seems to work for me, but I am not sure if I should try and eat something before I exercise to help get my metabolisim going.

Ooooh, Tera...that sounds sooooo nice! :) I think my children would love a cruise...it's my husband who gets queasy walking on a dock that makes me intrepid about taking that plunge..oh and my horrible feeling of claustrophobia if I can't stretch out in a room...but we have a family of five so I think we're already limited in our room choices...you've made me really start thinking cruise in a couple of years! :)

DJ...have you been on a Disney cruise? What is Castaway Cay like? Are there many things for the kids to do? I love hearing about travel stories! :)

Regina!! Tomorrow is my weigh in and I know I'm up 5 pounds and that was 2 weeks ago...I'm afraid to weigh tomorrow but I'm committed and now that the house is close to unpacked I can get back on plan more easily. So, count me right in there with you for relosing those lost pounds! :) 2 pounds is a GREAT step forward!! :)  I walk most the time before my husband goes to work...I walk for four miles and honestly I just sometimes forget to drink water before I go out...I never eat anything until I get back but I think it's good to drink some water before working out anytime of the day. When the mornings here can be in the 70's/80's I really need that water..but right now it's been in the 50's and I haven't been as water thirsty as walking later in the day. You are one AWESOME lady for getting up at 4:30!!! That's CONVICTION! :cheer2:

I crashed and burned yesterday...don't know why but I had a Krispy Kreme donut and a nutter bar...there, I said it...I did it and I'm not going to do it again. Sometimes starting back up for me is like starting a car with a tricky starter....it sputters, spits, groans, moans then once it's actually started it's going until it stops again...so hopefully once all these boxes are unpacked I'll be more focused...whew...you guys are great to confess to and I know I will be losing soon! :)

Tara

The Disney Cruise is wonderful. In fact, my kids would rather go there than to WDW (but they really prefer when we can do both--it is just if they had to choose they would pick the cruise).

Castway Cay is a beautiful island, and the kids love to play in the waves and build with the sand. We also like going on the bike ride in the mornings. My DH likes renting a sailboat for part of the time too. They have boats for rent, excursions (we did the Kayak excursion last time and really enjoyed it), a bike trail (not a long one, but it is nice), and a Kid's Club area (my kids have only done this once and they really liked it, but we usually stay together on the island). There is a BBQ lunch held on the island, but you can go back onboard also. You don't have to get off the ship if you don't want to.

We actually prefer the 4 night cruise with a couple of nights at Disney World afterwards. We have done two cruises of each (the 3, 4 and 7 night cruises). We aren't much for excursions, and if you go on the 7 night you will want to go on excursions because that is too long to just stay on the ship. We prefer to go for 4 days onboard the ship and use our 'excursion' days to visit WDW (of course, we can only go on vacation for 1 week at a time, if we had two weeks we would probably like the longer cruise and still have time for WDW).

It is a really great vacation! We are going in March 2006 and can't wait!

I didn't make it. Read my journal post for more info.

Unofficial weighin: 186!!! (Tara, don't count it until Saturday though, okay?) That means I'll have lost 13 pounds!!! I get my 10 pound goal and am 2 away from my 15 pound goal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YES!!!

I did my 2 weeks weigh in and only lost 1 pound this time.

I could tell I had hit a plateau, but that happens. I am hoping things improve over the next week. I am going to go ot weekly weigh in's for now on because I am going to do them at home instead of Weight Watchers. If I can't stay motivated, I will go back to meetings, but right now I am doing pretty good on my own.

OH! That 1 pound was enough to put me up to the next Clippie, so it wasn't all bad news! Since I starting my weight lose program (and joined WISH), in January, I have lost 35 pounds!

DJ

Tigercheer (I responded in my best motherly way to your news on your journal...you're doing GREAT!!) But I want to CHEER For those 13 pounds lost!! That's AWESOME!!!! YIPPPEEE...let me know on Saturday and I'll post the updates for you!!

DJ....1 pound is a great loss..you've been having big losses and your body just needs time to adjust...I know the next 2 weeks you'll have a whoosh...I seem to do that when I plateau...35 pounds since January!!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc Aren't you just TICKLED PINK!!! :Pinkbounc You're losing ways are motivating me...I've been very very good today after yesterday's near crash with KK donut and Little Debbie...feeling much more in control of my cravings...I know TOM is a day or two away...so it's hard to fight them....weighing in tomorrow to get the official damage from my 3 week move to Alabama off plan tally...ugh! Hopefully, it won't be too bad and I can start anew feeling strong.

Let's kick it team!

Hey all, I just wanted to poke my head in and see how everyone is doing, and I have to say, all that talk about cruises is making me jealous. :teeth:

I'm experiencing something I never have before. Every time I've started an exercise and/or diet program before, its always felt like pure torture. I would do it, but grudgingly, and I was always finding ways to talk myself out of doing what I should. This time however, I find myself looking forward to my exercise sessions (especially Curves), I'm thinking up new ways to fit exercise in, and I'm buying healthier stuff at the grocery store without even being tempted by the "bad" stuff. I still have an Oreo now and then, but I'm eating more fruits and veggies than I ever have in my life, without cravings. Its very VERY cool, and I'm really excited about it.

:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

I have a question about TOM that someone might have experienced. I'm on a 3 month cycle with the patch, and I didn't know if that would make me retain more or less water weight than normal, or how it might effect weight loss. Anyone know anything about it? Its all but totally eliminated my migraine headaches since I did it, and I absolutely love only having "visits" 4 times a year, and having total control over exactly when that is. Just didn't know what to expect in the weight loss department.

I'm down a couple of pounds, but I'm not counting it until the first of the month. Not losing very quickly, but I'm hoping that's because I'm working out a fair amount and am gaining muscle. The weather is supposed to clear up here by Monday (after the 7th wettest May on record, and its only half over), so I'm planning to start riding to and from work (2 miles each way) and head down to the track down the road a couple times a week and start jogging as well. :cheer2:

As for the clothes I bought the other day, it was kind of depressing. I usually wear an XL and it is just right, but at the sports stores, their XLs were like a size 10 or 12. Couldn't even get them on. So I went to the mall and got some sweats and some semi-exercise clothes that will get me by for a couple of sizes. Whoever thought to make women buy several sizes LARGER was not thinking at all. :sad2:

Morning Losers!!

It is POURING rain here in the Chicago area:umbrella: Anyone East of me..........HERE IT COMES!!!!!

Have gained back about 3.5lbs in the last two weeks. But with everything going on with DD17 I can't stress about it.

GOOD NEWS - OR KEEP YOUR FINGERS CROSSED - She is meeting with a different therapist tomorrow morning who I got really good vibes from :goodvibes :goodvibes on the phone. She wants to see her twice a week for the next few weeks but feels that DD is treatable. :) Without talking to DD directly and basing on what I have told her she says it sounds like the beginnings of OCD (Obessive compulsive disorder). Just pray DD connects with her. The downside is that the dr only has daytime appts left so I have to take DD out of school and I have to miss a day's work (that part I don't care). DD is worried about the school giving us a hard time about her being late twice a week. Promised her I would call the school and talk to them........everything is a stress to her :sad2:

Lacerta - DON'T STOP MOVING!! You are in the zone :cool1: That is my biggest problem right now.....I stopped exercising to take care of DD and the body is feeling pretty icky. Hoping to start again on Monday.

To all my fellow Losers - KEEP LOSING FOR ME!! I will catch - I will catch up!! ;) ;)

Have a Magical Disney Day!!
Linda

Good morning team!!!

Lacerta...I'm still in awe that your cycle is 4x a year!! I have them 2x a month most months! AAGH! I wish I knew something about that.....hopefully someone can share their experiences. And yes, keep moving! That's the key to keeping any pounds from creeping up well and of course avoiding krispy kreme donuts. EEk!

Linda...hope your dd will have a great visit...there aren't too many more weeks of school so hopefully that will ease her a bit about missing. 3.5 pounds...you know those are easy to get back off when your life lets you!! Make little victories for yourself until you get back on track like cutting down sodas or adding water, or parking farther away from the therapist...or even walking the time your daughter is in therapy...maybe it'll have nice sidewalks or even a pond nearby! :)

I did manage my 4 mile walk this morning...that's 2x in 4 days...I might just be getting back on this losing wagon...but the truth is yet to come...today is weigh in and I just haven't had the gumption to get on that scale...will do that in about 10 minutes...hopefully it's not too bad.

EDIT: I weighed in at 181.0...that's much better than the 183.5 I saw last week...so I've only netted a gain of 3.5 pounds in 3 weeks...ugh! But I really think I can be at 178.5 by next Thursday and starting from ground zero again. And now I know why those donuts and nutter bars were calling my name...TOM started today...so really I feel even better about this weigh in knowing I lost 2.5 pounds this week and TOM came!!

My goal is to hit 175 by May 31st...I think I can do it.

Tara

Talk to you guys soon!
Tara

Thanks Tara!! :sunny: I can't "weight"!

Question: How long was it before the compliments come rolling in? I want to know because those Happiness Tidbits keep me motivated. Like, when I went on Atkins, I lost 20 lbs and then people were commenting on how good I looked. How much was it for you all?

Rock on WISHerwomen!!!!

:cheer2: Hey WISHers
:cheer2: I've got three words for you
:cheer2: They're full of power and might
:cheer2: Most of all, they're true!
:cheer2: Gimme a YES WE CAN
(yes we can)
:cheer2: We're the (wo)man!

Also, I'm Relaying for Life tomorrow! It should be good!

Drink your water and have positive attitudes. Attitude is everything!

Good morning fellow losers.

I have been completely off plan and have gained bad 5 lbs that I lost. Can't seem to get motivated to do what I know I should. I don't schedule in any downtime for myself with my crazy work schedule. I will be back on Long Island net week. Before I can go, I have to close out a clients year end, post ande run the reports for the first quarter, and have a financial statement completed for the bank by Monday. Does that indicate what I will be doing this weekend?

WDW is in 9 days and 4 hours. :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: Does it appear I am counting? I really need some downtime to recoup and regroup.

I will try to be better today, eat healthy, drink lots of water, and try to sneak in 15 min of exercise. The second option seems to be the easiest to accomplish (when I am in the office and have access to cold water).

Must get headed to work to get the stuff ready to go to clients by 8. :moped: :moped:

Will check in later.

ONward and DOWNward

Morning Losers!!

DD17 therapy appt is at 8am..........I am really nervous :worried: - hope there is a connection so we can get her on the road to recovery. Life is spiraling out of control and and I am getting sucked into it.

Have to vent...........Her one and only girlfriend has not been very supportive through these times and it really bothers me. The gf had volunteered to make a prom dress for DD - DD is attending her boyfriends senior prom (DD is a Junior). Well that is not happening (dress is not turning out the way it was planned and DD is very upset) and the friendship is almost done. When DD told gf that she needed to go to therapy twice a week and miss some school the gf replied "that is b_ _ _ s_ _ _. You are just being mental".........well HELLO that is the problem.

DD has been upset about the dress issue so I took her last night shopping. Actually found discounted dresses she liked. Bought them both (1 black and 1 coral)....DD couldn't make up her mind and wanted to show the boyfriend (I Know she was setting herself up).......she liked the coral one better and the boyfriend liked the black one better. The more she puts the black one on the less she likes it...........well do you know the end of the story :confused3 .......boyfriend is now mad at her because she wants to wear the coral one. I realize it is his prom but couldn't he be alittle more considerate of her condition and just be happy  .......both dresses are really cute on her..........I know she should have never dragged him into it but she doesn't talk to anyone else right now.......so here it is 2 weeks before prom and they are squabbling again. I keep telling her that prom is highly overrated and usually doesn't live up to one's expectations.

I also tell my girls that men don't think like normal people :rotfl2: and the sooner they understand and accept that the easier a relationship will be. :rotfl:

So that is my saga of the moment - told her I will support any decision she makes.......but she has to make one soon. Both dresses need to be alter and since this is prom season I am sure the seamstress is busy.

Hang in there everyone..........keep taking baby steps towards your goals. Personally I WANT TO RUN AWAY TO WDW right now :goodvibes

Just hope this morning goes well...........

Have a magical Disney Day!! :earsboy:

TigerCheer...LOVE LOVE LOVE your great attitude!!! I think it was my first 20 pounds that folks started noticing...and then my next 20 and next...somehow 20 pounds really shows up! :) I'm with you on drinking water...I'm making this a water good day!

Kathy...you know that all that hard work you put into losing those 5 pounds is NOT gone! Our bodies hold more water when we eat badly...high fat foods, high sodium and high sugar means extra water retention...so don't despair!!! My scales showed a gain of 5 pounds and this week I was down 1.5 by just cutting back a little but I still had donuts and little debbie's I shouldn't have...so give yourself a week of eating good fruits and veggies and you'll see the scale back down.

Linda...it's soooo sooo very easy for someone on the outside looking in to offer opinions...I know how tough it is to see your daughter go through this...but I think this dress issue is a pretty big one to help her conquer some issues. Forgive me if I speak out on this....it's the mother gene coming through! :) What???!!!! He is showing discontentment because she wants to choose another dress???? I for one don't think any high schooler should wear black..it usually looks like a 16 year old trying to look like a 30 year old walking down the red carpet at Oscar night. When you mentioned coral I just got this BEAUTIFUL image of your daughter...I LOVE coral..what a great color for a dress! I hate to say it, but the first words that came to mind when thinking of her boyfriend was shallow and smallminded....she shouldn't give a minute of angst to his disapproval...in her weakened condition I can understand but she needs to be shown that she should be excited about the coral and kindly tell him she is sorry if he's disappointed but that she would feel much more comfortable in the coral and that's what she's wearing. Does he know her issues with stress? How could he add to it and still be considered compassionate towards her? Okay, I'm off my soapbox...I think it's just a time in her life where she needs to seek that confidence that she's hidden somewhere...she'll find it and grow stronger and won't be so influenced by the words/actions of those she's trying to please...she should be strong and know it's okay to be confident. My prayers are with her and my favorite phrase was one by a former president when handing over the office to the incumbant...he said, "Whatever you do in this office, don't let the turkeys get you down." And boy, there are a lot of turkeys out there...don't let them take your mind off the job at hand of being a happy and strong teenager! :)

Tara

Maybe this is strange, but I am excited about Oprah's show today. They are going to talk about finding a good fitting bra that will help you look up to 10 pounds lighter!

The thing for me is that after losing 35 pounds, I know I need a new bra size, but I am not sure what size I need. They are suppose to show you how to measure for the right size.

Of course, I am not sure I want to buy a bunch of new stuff because I still want to lose about 25 pounds before I am done, so I am at a difficult place. I bought 1 pair of jeans that fits and 1 pair of shorts. Then I bought another pair of jeans that I 'hope' to get into after another 10-15 pounds (and that will be the size I plan to stay at once I gett here).

Anyway, just thought the rest of you might want to watch it. I am taping it in case I end up missing (never know what will be going on at that time, the kids are home from school, and DH comes home from work half way through it).

DJ

Thanks Tara!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Almost there! I'm PSYCHED because I'm doing the Relay for life. I'm leavin' in about 15 minutes and I plan to walk two whole miles! Whoever thinks they're gonna get in my way and keep me from walking better think again!

Linda- P&PD headed your way.

westjones-hope you find your better fitting bra. Congrats on the clothes! :cheer2:

Today was weigh in for me and I maintained this week. Getting up earlier is working better for me, I am not as tired as I thought I would be.

Tomorrow I am going to the zoo with my Mom, sister, 2 nieces and my 2 sons. The weather is suppose to be sunny and mid 70's. We just found out that they will not fill the vacant position in my department until July at the earliest. So I will be carrying an extra work load until at least early fall.

Linda - Hang in there, here is some :wizard: :wizard: .

Everyone else keep up the good work and enjoy the week-end.

Regina

Good morning everyone.

Off to Long Island for another week. Am taking dd2 this time so plan to take some time and show her some of the state parks in the Hauppauge area. It will give me an excuse to get some walking time in.

At this time next week, we will be in Orlando on our way to WDW. Can anyone tell I'm counting down. Just finished working to get a client's financial completed for them to give to the bank tomorrow. At times I feel there are not enough hours in the day or week. Being in my upstate office for only 4 days this month didn't give me much of a chance to get anything caught up. Still working evenings on another outside account. Will get it finished this week even if I have to shorten my sleep time. Be more than ready for vacation that way.

Will check in after getting to the Island. Hoping to get there early enough to go for a walk. The sky here looks like rain. They say we are having a drought month but it seems to do nothing but rain.

Have a good day.
