Maria, great start!

Cindy, I think your goal is very doable! Keep going and you'll be ther in no time! :cheer2:

Coaster, I hate plateaus, here's hoping for a buster to come your way soon! :cool1:

Dona, you've got the right idea...one day at a time, one meal at a time! I weigh every day too the scale has become my accountability partner. :goodvibes

Wendy, glad to see you!! :yay:

I have maintained which is pretty amazing since I started hanging out with some foodies at church...these people can EAT!!!!!

Okay gang, let's get busy and kick some pounds to the curb. We all know we can do it!! :cheer2: :grouphug:

I have a confession to make.

I re-joined WW's back in November. I was going to the meetings, and losing, sometimes gaining, but losing. I wasn't losing much, though and i would be frustrated. Almost angry. Who was I angry at? Not myself. Just angry that the weight was not coming off fast enough.

Then, one day, when I only had a .8 loss, instead if being upset, I was surprised, because it was the Wednesday after Christmas. I let myself go for the holidays. I was expecting a 3 pound GAIN. So, I sat down and I really considered what I was doing program wise. The answer? NOTHING. I was not writing down my points value, I certainly was not drinking my water, nor my milk (diet coke only) and if I had a snickers bar, I ignored the fact that I had it, instead of accounting for the points.

I realized I have no right to be frustrated. I was not giving 100% to the program, so of course it would be a bumpy road. Last week, I decided, if I was losing weight without being OP the whole time, imagine how much I would lose IF I did commit myself 100%.

So, for a full week now, i have been weighing and measuring my food. Writing it all down, drinking at least 48oz of water everyday, and exercising. Here is what found out.....

There is a heck of a lot of peanut butter in 1 tablespoon! Holy cow, who would of thought?

Continuing on my lifelong journey.........

HI everyone!

Cindy--that's a great goal to set for yourself. I aim for a pound a week, so that it stays off easier. Welcome!

I agree with CoasterAddict. Weighing daily is very stressful on the mind. I do wednesdays with sneaking in another one when-or if-I need the encouragement or discipline.

Disney1fan--great way to keep yourself on track. I still can't get to that level. I just eyeball stuff. I know accuracy makes a huge difference, and you will see your results from your efforts. Good luck and keep on track!

Maria! You are a great inspiration! I know you will stay on track!

Off to work soon! Keep up the great job everyone!

It is a new year, and it will be our year!

Great losses to all!

Wendy

Thanks Wendy, and the day I have been waiting for was today. I had my WI today. After weeks of losses under a pound, last week I decided to see what would happen if I journaled everyday, weighed and measured everyday, drank my water everyday, and exercised.

the results????

DOWN 4 POUNDS!!!!! :cool1:

Congrats on 4 pounds.

I am following that lead. I have started to write down what I am eating and have walked 3 mornings in a row. I still need to get a little bit more active but this is a good start.

This is a crazy week. It is almost the end of the marking period so a lot of tests but I also have to finish working on the midterms for two of my classes. THen on top of this the marching band dinner is this weekend. Since I am band parent president I do a lot of work for it but it is worse this year. We usually do a gift basket raffle one for a boy and one for a girl. I have never had to put these together because someone has been doing it the last few years. The person who did it last year has had some family health problems so I couldn't ask her sso I am doing the gift basket. What am I crazy  It will all work out.

Have a great evening everyone. Keep up the work

Dona, WTG great start - keep up the great work!! :woohoo:

Wendy, glad to see you around! :goodvibes

Hey Maria, How ya doing?? :) :)

I have hit another plateau! UGH! I'm stuck at 146. Yes, that's up one from New Year's. My walking has been suffering lately, I gotta make friends with that TM!! :lmao:

Keep up the good work ladies!! Hopefully there will be more of us checking in soon!! Where is everybody?????

Is Kathy back yet? I want to hear about her trip!

:grouphug: :grouphug: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Hope the week works out great for you! I am glad it is end of marking period. DS has been accepted to 2 of the 3 colleges he's applied to. Haven't heard from the 3rd yet. We are hoping with great marks this semester, we will see better options for scholarships. We aren't dependent on them, but it will leave him more money to have to start out after college if he recieves them.

It looks like laundry time. :laundy:

Great day to all!

(P.S.--I am also waiting to hear about Kathy's trip!)

Wendy

Congrats Wendy on 2 out of 3 schools. We start that search in April for my son who is a junior. It is so nice to hear someone only applying to 3 schools. Many of my students apply to a lot more. Money is so tricky. My husband and I make too much for my sons to get financial scholarships but my younger son is pretty bright and may get some merit scholarships.

KAthy Where are you? I know she is around.

Hi,

I'm still here, sort of. I could barely zip into my pants today. It was so depressing I just wanted to eat everything in sight. I didn't, so at least there's that. I've actually eaten less today than yesterday. I added carrots to my snacks, I know I need to get more protein and more calories/fiber in earlier in the day. I just tend to work straight through all morning, and then I snack while I work all afternoon.

This afternoon I had errands, so I wasn't at a desk or in front of a t.v. I think this helped.

I'm really mad at myself, but I can't seem to stop the eating. I guess I need some kind of catchy phrase so I will think before I eat. Any ideas?

Maria

Maria,
If you're finding you tend to eat more at certain times of day it might help to change your routine if at all possible. Or get something really harmless and fairly unappealing (for me it's rice cakes or the like) to grab when you really feel compelled to put something into your mouth. Also...you probably know this, but it's much better *not* to go long periods without eating something, so maybe planning in a midmorning snack and being sure to eat a healthy lunch will help ward off the mid-afternoon munchies. Hang in there, we all have bad days.

Maria I know how you feel. I was eating everything in sight last week. I agree with Coaster that I feel better when I have a very structured type off meal plan. Sometimes I go off of it but if I plan my entire day and do a good job of packing my snacks and lunch I am much better off. I also found that I need a good nights sleep to help me keep away the munchies. It's tough but I know that you can get back on track. If I can do it you can do it.

Please add me to the list!

150 is my final goal weight...that's 74.6 pounds to lose!:headache:

But I'm hoping to get there...I've lost 17.4 so far, so I'm on my way! :)

Hi Again!

Coaster & Dona -- Thanks so much for the advice and encouragement. I do pack a great lunch and snacks, I just forget to have the morning snack, and then I hit the candy bowl after my afternoon snacks are gone.

I do see how I can get around this. You guys just gave me a great idea. I can put a reminder that will pop up on my computer to eat a snack midmorning. I will not forget with that little ding! The candy bowl could be more of an issue. But again, you have helped me! If I have something like rice cakes to munch, It will keep my mouth occupied until the stressful moment passes.

Thanks for giving me hope! I am on track so far today and tonight. I haven't had any extra treats, and I'm not hungry.

Just getting one good day in is going to do me a world of good. Thanks again for all the encouragement and good vibes!

Maria

I'm back and swamped at work.

We arrived in Florida on Dec 31, met up with Erin for a late lunch and then went to the Airport Sheraton for the night. We didn't even try to get into the parks.

New Year's Day - arrived at OKW early. Room wasn't ready, which we figured, so we spent the day at Animal Kingdom. We hung out there until it was time to get into our room. Erin was working her last WDW shift as a cast member. She got off at 9 so we met her in the park and stayed for the 10 PM fireworks.

Jan 2 - went to Track Shack to get me new running shoes (mine never made it to Florida) because the shoes I wore for driving were not suitable to spent too much time walking in. Spent the afternoon getting Erin's apt ready for her to vacate. Her roommate was not any assistance at all. Go tired of walking around the roomie and decided to return the next morning when everything had to be packed so they could be out of the apt by 11. We spent the evening resting.

Jan 3 - finished with the apt, took roomie to airport, went to AK so girls could ride Everest. We also did the Safari. I forgot my camera which fighred because we saw more animals close up than on any of our other trips.

Jan 4 - Spent the morning in the park, had lunch at the villa, and went to the EXPO in the afternoon. Had ressies at Ohana's for 8:30. We didn't get seated until 9:30 which made for a very late dinner. The original plan was to watch WISHES while eating.

Jan 5 - hung out and relaxed. Met up with the WISHER's doing the races over the weekend at the POP food court. There was a good turnout. Went back to the villa and just relaxed.

Jan 6 - half marathon day. Lynne was up at 4 to get the bus to EPCOT for the start of the race. Mom, Erin and I were at the bus stop at 6:50 to take the marathon busw to the finish to see Lynne fininsh aroung 8. We ended up taking the regular EPCOT bus as the marathon bus never showed up. Lynne was finished by the time we got there. We met up with her at the W (for WISH) tent. We stayed around until most of the other WISHers finished also. Went back to the villa, ate lunch, and went shopping for dinner food. My nephew, his wife, MIL, 2 sons and 4 month old daughter came over for the evening. We hadn't seen them since last spring.

Jan 7 - Marathon day. Lynne was up at 5 to walk to the start. We took the bus to EPCOT at 8:30 to go into the park and watch the racers go by. It was interesting to see all the people. There were runners of all ages and sizes. The weather was brutal and medical was very busy. Lynne finished the race and got her Micky and Goofy medals. We to Oliva's for lunch, rested, DT to view the results and EPCOT in the evening for the Illumination's fireworks.

Jan 8 - met other racers at Board Walk bakery for breakfast before starting for home.

Jan 9 - finished driving home.

All and all, it was a relaxing trip. I took my computer in case a major client had QBOOK questions. I am happy to report, the computer did not come out of its bag the whole trip.

I stepped on the scale this morning and weigh more than I ever have. I need to get the motivation to take this weight off. I am going to start walking more consistently and even do some cross training of some sort. Going to the gym is still not allowed. Shoveling snow is still on the no list also. I will have to find some other form of cross training. This needs to be done because I am doing the Marathon on Jan 13, 2008. I need to start training to train to get the secret finishers medal.

I started with a new therapist for my shoulder. I was originally sent to her for my foot and found out she is good for upper extremities also. She is totally hands on. I found out I have no internal rotation ability currently in my shoulder. I switched to her because I was not happy with the original therapist. Have to see her again tomorrow.

Everyone is doing great. I will try to be around a little more frequently. I need to start ramping up my work hours with this being my first saturday of the new year to work.

Have a great evening.

Welcome back Kathy. It sounds like you had a great trip.

Sorry to hear that the shoulder is still giving you problems. I am glad that you decided to see a new therapist, a good one can make all the difference. I've been through shoulder pt and I think it is harder than ankle or knee pt (saw my son through both of those). I think it is much more painful. Good luck. It will a lot of hard work but you will be building muscles at the same time.

Hi everyone. Hope you are all have a great day. I have to go and grade tests and I think some people are coming in to make up tests and for extra help so I better go.

Kathy,

Can you walk? I mean is that on the list of no activities? Why not use that for exercise until the Doc give you the OK to go to the gym?

You don't even have to walk far. Start out with a half mile and move up. As long as you are moving, you are burning calories.

CRUNCHES! The dreaded things from HELL.

My trainer for the nautilis was kind enough to offer to show me how to do crucnhes on the stability ball. She said let's do 5, OK, now again 5, 5 more, annndd another 5!!! I did 20 freaking crunches.

Then, because I felt like the ball was going to shoot out from behind me, she showed me the half balls. I did another 11 crunches on that and actually liked that better, even though she said the crunches were harder to do.

My stomach hurts today, but it is a good hurt!

Good Morning, Ladies!

Kathy -- :welcome: back! Thanks for the trip report. It sounds like it was wonderful. I really, really want to be there next year. DH and I have been talking about what to do with ds, where we might stay, etc., so I'm trying to make it a reality. I need a goal, and this is a great one. Doing the half would be the most athletic accomplishment of my life, and I need to do this.

Disney1 -- I'm so proud of you for doing those crunches! You are definitely on your way! :cool1:

Dona -- I'm sure you're looking forward to your day off Monday. Do you have special plans for the weekend? :goodvibes

I stopped at 10:30 and ate a snack today, carrots. That didn't seem to satisfy me, so I'm eating my celery now. This afternoon I'm going to be cross training (exercise bike). I'm really trying to get into a training schedule. Actually, it's a workout schedule, but I want to evolve into a training schedule. Just doing something 5 days a week, and actually living up to that commitment, will be a huge step for me.

Let's keep going, we are off to a great start!
Maria

Hi everyone. A quick note before I go to lunch (if you can call 22 minutes lunch) Yes I am going out with friends on Sat and the Marching Band Dinner is Sunday night. That will be a busy day but it is a fun night for the kids and I have to enjoy it. I only have 1 more after this Next year will be 9 years with the band and 7 years as Band Parent President.
