Jen,

Maybe you can just really focus on eating light for those 30 hours. Like a green sald, maybe a filet of fish. you can starve yourself since you have the game and need to keep up your strengh.

Maria, So you walked on your tm at home and watched the movie. Right? What kind of Tm do you have? I have a friend who is in the market for one and wants to get one that is made for running as well as walking. I wish the owner of the gym would put a TV near the TM so that I could do that. I wish I was able to get a TM to put in my basement and do the same thing. Oh well. I'll just stick with torturing myself.

I have the alarm set for 4:30, so my plan is to be at the gym by 5. Here's to no children waking in the middle of the night.

Hope everyone had a great day.

GOOD MORNING FELLOW LOSERS

I woke at 5:30 this morning. After remembering a thread started by MelC, I decided to get up and exercise instead of laying there waiting for the alarm to go off. I accomplished 48 min for 2.87 miles on the TM. I was watching some more of Minority Report, it was just getting to the good part but I knew I had to get ready for work. After work I will do my 45 min on the bike. Need to catch up to make the Feb exercise challenge.

Everyone needs to commit to doing xx min of exercise daily. It doesn't have to be structured, JUST GET UP AND GET MOVING. We need someone to volunteer as the drill sargent to keep up motivated.

Jen - you are doing great. Don't let the little thing make you discouraged. Keep thinking of the bathing suit you want to wear in March. You will accomplish your goal and look fantastic.

Maria - great job of walking. It makes it so much easier to do when you have an ulterior motive. It gives you a great excuse to watch movies you wouldn't take time for otherwise. We need to keep each other accountable with our walking. Today is the first time I have been on the TM in a while. I usually put my time in on the bike. It is much easier on the feet. Next Mon is the beginning of my official training schedule for the Minnie. Even though it is only 15K, I am going to follow the MFM Half training schedule and try an do more running.

Tracy - how is it going with the personal trainier? Isn't is amazing how you discover muscles you never knew existed?

Linda - how did yesterday go? Were you able to make it to Yoga? Start with little steps to build up to exercising regularly. Start with 2 - 3 days per week to exercise. Don't think you have to do it for any specific amount of time, just do it.

Tara - how is the body feeling this week. Remember, don't be a commando exerciser, start slow and build back up to your 4 miles per day. You are setting yourself up for injuries. We need to keep our bodies fit.

Debra - hope you got the heat fixed.

Need to get truckin. The government thinks all corp tax returns should be filed by March 15. Need to get motivated to do them, my reward with be a week in WDW from Mar 18 - 25. Need to concentrate so I can go with a clear head and not have to worry about what I didn't finish.

Morning All and

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!

 :grouphug:  :grouphug:

Instead of candy - treat yourself to a few minutes of exercise!!! :cheer2:

I did make it to yoga yesterday - 45 minute class called yoga sculpt....... :woohoo: Felt so goooooooooooooooooooood :thumbsup2

Not working today - so looking at walking on the TM and watching a couple of episodes of 7th Heaven - I'm behind and taped them.

Also starting the new job at the dog training/kennel. Two days a week (Tues and Thurs) from 4:30 - 8:00 - alittle extra fun money for me AND Cody gets free doggie day care whenever he wants to come play!!!!

Kathy - I am going to make it my goal to follow your advice of committing to exercise even if it is only a couple of days. Starting is the hardest part!! Thanks for the kick in the Behind!!! :grouphug: :moped:

Debra - Heat???? Yes!!!! I would have been moving to a hotel without heat......brrrrrrrrrrrrrr Good excuse to keep moving......natural exercise and staying warm:):)

Schatz - How did you do? Did you make it to the gym this morning!! :yay: :yay:

Tara - You need to be careful with no overdoing it!! I agree with Kathy don't set yourself up for injuries!! COME ON WE CAN DO THIS!!! :teeth:

Maria - How is the snow doing? Is your son feeling better? Were you able to walk on the TM?

Jen- You are going to look Gorgeous in the black swimsuit!! Where is the Kalahari? Congrats on the summer job - STAY AWAY FROM THE ICE CREAM :rotfl: That would be a HUGE problem for me. :teeth:

digimom - hang in there - drink your water and watch the 2 lbs melt away.

Off to get my day going - to everyone HAVE A MOVING AND LOSING DAY!!

Have a Magical Disney Day!!
Linda

Good morning all and Happy Valentines Day.

My husband could not give me chocolates because I gave them up last week because of the caffeine so he got me some flowers and a stufffed dog. We had a good laugh about that. I have been wanting a small dog but I would not get one because we had a big dog who loved the outdoors, he never wanted to come inside even in the dead of winter(part border collie). The small dog would be an inside dog and we had talked about it because we had lost our cat in 2004 and the house was kind of lonely. Well in Jan 2005 he came home with two cats because we both agreed that the house was lonelyand two cats would keep themselves entertained. He came home with two sisters. In July 2005 I had to put our dog to sleep because of age and health but the time was still not right to get a small dog because we have the two cats and I know that they would not mix with a dog. They cause enough havoc with just themselves. So last night my husband gave me a stuffed dog almost real size. My sons were very funny when we told them that I had wanted a small dog. Their reaction was that we could get one when they leave the house and not before (At least they are 20 and 15).

Kathy Did they fix the heat. Ours went out last month but it was 60 degrees out the day it went.

Does anyone know of any great stretched for a cramp in the front of the shin. I have been getting them in just one leg when I move too fast or too long while I am walking.

Well I'm sorry to say that I did NOT make it to the gym this am. With DH being gone everyone is outta sorts. So I went to bed at 10:00 and by 10:15 DD Caitlynne was with me, she wanted a drink, Ok, so I wasn't asleep yet, I can still get up. Then, she was up, because she had to go potty, AARRGGHH, than she hogs all the blankets. So finally at 2:30 I shut the alarm off. I will get there today at 4 and walk on the TM for the time. Than do the stuff with the PT, than do Pilates. Than tomorrow I'll be posting standing up, because my legs and behind will be to sore to sit.

I'll report more later.

Great job to those who are moving and grooving.

I did 28 minutes on the TM today............For me that is a WOO HOO!!!

Have a Magical Disney Day!!
Linda

Well, I think I did a pretty swell job today.

B: 2 apples, some cheese, cereal (1 cup)=8
L: chicken pattie on bun=5
S: 2 apples (2)
D: I am going to make a salad, some soup and some fruit for dinner!

After dinner=homework and with any luck a little exercise.

They had a lollipop sale at school the past week. I didn't buy any lollipops for me like I would have done and I don't think I received any either (which is good or else it would've been down the hatch)

Water: 24 ounces in...off for more!

Dinner was a bust.

1 mug of soup, 1/2 an apple

later...
KFC biscuits (2), mac n cheese, mashed potatoes.

Tomorrow will definitely get better. It's been a rough day today-lots to do, little time...

All I can say is HOLY COW. I arrived at the gym and did 30 minutes on the TM at 3.5, than the fun began....NOT.

PT showed up, I did lunges to start, one foot on the floor the other on a step, holding 3 lb weights, than I did shoulder work using 4lb weights, and finally oh heck I forgot. But whatever it was it eventually hurt. Anyway, I did this stuff for 3 complete sets. Than she asks me to hop across the floor to get my heart rate up. Hopping was not going to happen as my legs where jello again. Besides, I already drank 50 oz's of water and in case anyone forgot I have 6 children, which in my case means I gave birth 6 times. Now we all know(ok maybe not Jen) what could happen, with a full bladder and weak muscles. It could be downright embarrassing. I told her if she wanted me to do that, I would need to know in advance so that I could go out and get Depends. Anyway, I would up doing a hopscotch up and down the gym. So after this, I than did a set with squats, something to work the obliques and arms using bands. Than I did some ab work, and finally ended with stretching. So after this hour, we had a half hour break before pilates class. Well Pilates glass was another hour of muscle toning. Now please tell me what was I thinking. I'm a 40 YO overweight women. I must need to have my head examined.

So the big question is how will I feel in the morning. I plan on stretching before I go to bed, that is if I can walk to bed.

Jen tomorrow is a new day, Take it one meal at a time,

Ok ladies, I'm off to try and get out of the recliner I find my behind in now.

Tracy - great job on the workout. You will probably notice muscles you didn't know you had. When I do a workout like that, the soreness doesn't hit until 18 - 24 hrs after punishing your body. Last time I went to a group training class, we did 3 sets of lunges. My quads hurt for 2 days after. The trick to help with toe soreness is to do some light exercise to keep the muscles moving. I used the TM and exercise bike. Hope this doesn't scare you off. The soreness is from small muscle tears, which when they heal make the muscles stronger. How long is there between your PT sessions?

I was lazy and did not get up an exercise this morning. Am getting a massage after work so not sure if I will exercise tonight either, it depends on what time I get home. Everytime I ask one of my drs a specific question, I get the response 'Ask your pain dr or neurosurgeon'. I'm getting to the point I feel I should just give up exercising and become a couch potato NOT. It gets frustrating trying to figure out what restrictions I have and what is safe. I need to keep busy and need to lose this band of fat around my midsection. Any suggestions?

Linda - great job on the TM yesterday. Remember baby steps. Shoot for 2 -3 times per week to start and increase gradually. If you miss a day, just use the next day. Keep going forward and don't get discouraged if you feel you are not making any progress.

Jen - you can start over after each meal. I had Chinese for lunch yesterday and drank very little water so my weight reflects it this morning. Today is a new day. Let's eat healthy and drink 64 oz of water. Each meal is a new beginning, questionable choices for one meal do not ruin the rest of the day for healthy eating.

Have to get to work. I gets in the way of my computer and exercise time. The only good thing about it is I usually drink more water while working. Need to excuse to get up and get a new glass every couple hours and it gets my a little exercise.

Have a great losing day.

Hope everyone had a nice Valentine's Day (or VD as my funny or not-so-funny DH calls it!) and didn't have too much chocolate. I did ok except for 3 chocolate covered strawberries, yum! Hey, they count as healthy because of the fruit (hidden under the chocolate) right?

Been away from the gym for a few days due to simple laziness on my part and a couple of late nights, but I plan on working out to a Pilates tape later on plus took an hour long walk with my dog this morning. According to the vet he needs to lose weight too...so he ( :dog: ) says, and I quote "WOOF", meaning give me more food and stop make me exercising with you, crazy lady!

It's Anti-Procrastination Day again, guess what I've been putting off? Yep, my TMing really goes in spurts. My knee felt "out of alignment" Monday, and Tuesday I got home too late, today dh has a meeting so I have to do all the ds work (homework, prep for tomorrow, no t.v. family game night) so I don't see how that will happen, either. Maybe I will try for just half an hour...I need to convince myself that is better than nothing. I tend to feel that if I can't half-kill myself, I'm not doing any good.

Today's eating is odd, too:

B - Kashi Bar (2 pts)
L - baked buffalo chicken sandwich and baked fries (12 pts)
S - WW Crispy Butter Cream Caramel candy (1pt.)
D - Ravioli (6 pts)
S - Hot Tea and 100 cal cookies (2 pts)

When I see it written out, I guess it isn't that bad. Just finished my 3rd 16 oz. water serving, so 1 more to go.

Karen -- I love chocolate covered strawberries! What a totally yummy treat!

Kathy -- I feel your frustration. It's hard when they are the experts, and they can't/won't give you the answers you need!

Tracy -- I think it is wonderful that you are putting forward this huge effort to meet your goals, you are an inspiration for all of us!

Jen -- I hope today has been better for you. Every meal is a new chance to make a good choice!

Linda -- I'm proud of you for making progress on the TM! I am going to do half an hour when I get ds settled, I promise!

Dona -- We also have 2 cats, and ds8 would love a dog. It's just not happening. Enjoy your stuffed puppy!

Debra -- How's that TM time coming? More importantly, do you have heat yet?! New LOST tonight. Sayid, my favorite!

Tara -- You need to think of something to make those laps more fun. I couldn't walk around a gym like that, either!

Everyone have a terrific night!
Maria

Today was crazy busy! I had solo and ensemble practice after school (because the showcase is Saturday...and they passed out the music when I was at WDW :rolleyes2 ) and cheerleading practice (getting ready for the big pep rally on Friday!) and play practice (it was my solo night there). And homework...lots-o-homework!

Water: about 20 ounces so far so I'm going to step that up

B: strawberries, an apple, PB toast made of that Wonder with Whole Wheat White...5

L: Crazy Bread...5

S: carrots and an apple...1

Exercise: we're doing TaeBo and Richard Simmons in gym class....and cheerleading for about 45 minutes. We were working on a new dance sequence for the pep rally :-D

Kathy.. I hear LIPO works to get rid of the fat around the mid-section. It certainly sounds easier at this point. I'm just to cheap and to poor to pay someone to suck the fat out that I probably spent alot money on the junk that put it there. I wouldn't want to waste anything ya know. I have a PT session tomorrow am. So I do Tuesday evenings from 5:30 - 6:30 and than Thursday mornings 5:30 - 6:30 After the PT day I just do the treadmill, and maybe some arms if am not feeling like they worked hard enough. Than say on sat, I try to incorporate what she had shown me in the previous days. I noticed my muscles really felt sore at about the 12 hour mark, and all day, I felt my thighs when I was walking up and down the stairs. What I find the most difficult is to remember to suck my gut in and squeeze those gluts all the while trying to breath. That seems to much to think about. LOL

So I'm a little behind in the water today. I also don't want to get on the scale, for fear if wouldn't have moved or even went up, due to the muscle build up. I just may wait until the end of the month. I have kept with the no cheating and the kitchen being closed, so I know that junk in not going in, Again, though I wonder if I'm eating enough. I know I didn't eat often enough today. Since DH is on active duty orders this week and is away, I have the car, so I'm doing alot of running for school. I will say though that the size 16 jeans are getting a bit baggy in the butt. And I THINK I am noticing less cellulite in that area as well as my thighs.

I think I picked the wrong 100 days to swear off candy, What was I thinking with Valentines day and Easter all in there. Oh well, hopefully the body will look and feel differnt for that HUGE sacrafice. I need to remember it's more important to me to wear a size 14 by the end of the month that it is to have that piece of Dove chocolate.

Maria, as the Nike commercial says "Just Do It" even I tiny bit will help. You just gotta get into the habit again.

Gotta go to bed so I can get up.

Happy losing

Tracy - glad to hear you are not too sore. I like your attitude about your training. I agree with you about being too cheap to go the easy way regarding the fat removal. It would only be temporary without an eating change.

Have gotten off track with eating and fluids the last few days. Am trying to sneak back up to the 170's. It will not happen. I need to start posting food eaten in my journal again. It keeps me honest and away from the candy bars. There is a mental thing about recording everything I eat for the world to see that makes me stop and think "Do you really want that ??????." Weekends are the hardest for me. I get into a funk and don't care much about eating and when I do eat it is not the correct type food.

Linda - how is the exercise going?

Tara - where are you?

Jen - keep striving to eat well and exercise. You are trying to mesh good habits around your busy schedulle. You are doing great. Keep up the good work.

Everyone - have a losing, healthy day. Let's get some exercise in. Drink your water.

I too feel more acountable when I write down what I eat. I have doing this off and on for the past two weeks. I am hoping that this will break the plateau that I am on. I am now working out 40 to 50 minutes a day, watching what I eat and the scale has not budged since Thanksgiving. I am not going down but I am also not going up so I guess that is good. I tried on a pair of pants today that a couple of months ago I could not zip up. I can zip them up and the legs feel loose but I could still not button them. I know this is a good thing.

Thanks for listening

Good Morning!

If only I could just go home and back to bed...but this is a super busy day, so I guess I'll have to suck it up! :rotfl:

I did do a half-hour on the TM yesterday. I played a little game with myself where I added a tenth of a mile (speed) each minute up to 15 (starting from 3.7), then I took a tenth away until I got to 4.2. At 25 minutes I started taking the tenths away again. I think I got somewhat of a workout. I ended up with just over 2.2 miles. I may do that again today. Something is better than nothing, even if I'm not burning much fat. At least it's good for my heart. I burned about 350 calories, so that doesn't hurt.

I've decided my problem is I watch entirely too much t.v. Since I'm gone during the day I tape, and I've got at least 3 hours to watch when I get home, not counting what I want to watch that night. I know something has to give and it should be the t.v., but my inner brat doesn't want to let it go. Any thoughts on how to wean myself/not feel deprived?

Today's eating plan:

B - oatmeal w/raisins
L - TBD
S - TBD
D - TBD

This is not much of a plan. We are out of fresh fruit and veggies. DH did not shop after the storm, and probably wouldn't have found much if he had. I'm going to have to go through the cabinets and see what I find for lunch and a snack. I think we have FF tuna salad & crackers, and Babybel. I'm reasonably certain we'll be having takeout for dinner, but maybe I can keep that to a Greek salad and some garlic bread. Actually, that may be my plan.

I'm looking forward to next week when I plan to buy an exercise bike!

Tracy -- My TM is a Pro-Form 950s. I walk or jog on it, but DS runs and does not have any issues with stability or "movement". You are right, I have to just do it, and even if it's not a full work out, I'm getting a habit! :yay:

Dona -- You are absolutely right about writing down what you eat. I find I do better if I have it planned, I'm less likely to take detours...

Kathy -- Weekends are my downfall. I guess I have too much time with access to the food. ;)

Jen -- A good rule is to try to fill up on as many fruits and veggies as you can, and then you will have less room for other things. It sounds like you are doing a good job of eating a variety of fruits and vegetables! :duck:

Karen -- How's your week going? :goodvibes

Linda -- Any new teaching assignments yet? How are you likeing doggie day care? :dog:

Debra -- Are you starting to get excited about your vacation?! :boat:

Tara -- How are those laps coming?! :flower1:

Have a great, losing day!
Maria

gotta make this a quick entry...we're decorating for the game tomorrow at the school.

b: 2 apples, 1 cup cereal (4)
l: popcorn chicken (3)
s: apple

water: good 18 ounces

exercise: videos in gym class

and off to play practice and cheerleading I go.

hugs and smiles and sunshine to you all!

Hey Guys!
Just came across this thread, Iwould love to join your 150 club. I started dieting and exercising on 1/6/2006. I have started reading all of your posts and love the encouragment I see for everyone. I started at 256 pounds, and I am now at 244. I am exercising with my husband every mon, weds, and Fri, and sometimes Sunday, at the YMCA, and we love it, and I do 20 minutes of cardio (Walk away the pounds) at home every other day I don't work out. Not alot of weight is coming off but I can see inches coming off because my clothes are not as tight. I have cut out all of the soda, junk food, pastas, potatos, basically just eat alot of fish, chicken, pork, and salads. I want to loose this weight so badly. Anyway I am glad to be a part of this group.

Hello,

We're getting a mix of rain, sleet and snow today. Just to the north of us is where most of the school closing are.

So, in the middle of the night we got some snow. Then this morning we got rain. I looked outside and realized that the rain was pouring over our gutters in front of our garage and creating a slushy lake in our driveway in front of the garage door. So, I went out with the ladder and started cleaning the slush jam out of the front gutter with my bare hands (I'm not a winter person, this really sucked). As I'm doing this, boom, the lightening and thunder starts. Not a good idea standing on a ladder with your hands in ice water in a gutter during a 32 degree thunderstorm.

So, I go inside and wait it out. The thunder and lightening stop, and the rain turns to sleet. I then proceed to shovel the slush, which by this time is really starting to freeze and needs to be scraped off with the sharp edge of the shovel upside down if you know what I mean. I spent over 2 hours clearing out the mess. I poured a kettle of boiling water into the gutter to clear it out.

Then I salted everything. I think in all I've spent 3 hours dealing with this stuff. Now it's snowing, and my DH can deal with whatever comes next after he's home.

I think I'll consider my exercise done for the day :teeth: :teeth: :teeth:

Later,
KathyT
