I LOVE the clippie!!! Wow! Kathy you are amazing!!! The glitter and the Mickey really make me want to GET TO THE 150's! :) I wonder how much Mickey weighs anyhow? Or Minnie for that matter! :)

I'll double check the stats on image sizes but I think that fits the specifications...you're so cool! :woohoo:

Okay guys it's kind of like a balance...the first week of jumping into my 20 miles a week routine means fine tweaking on the eating...it takes me about 2 weeks to get them both running smoothly. I am sooooo extremely sore from walking 8 miles in 2 days at a fast clip...did yesterday in an hour and 10 minutes...a little slower but good considering how sore these legs and joints are. Today is my 6 miler...I think I'll have to split it up into 2 segments 4 miles outside and 2 at the community center...I think I'll go crazy covering that track 72 times! 48 is bad enough! I feel like a gerbil on a track. But, where I went wrong on eating was rewarding my aching muscles with 4 homemade chocolate chip cookies and some dough....was decent on eating until we went to Red Lobster last night to celebrate my son's finishing 4th grade (2 months overdue)...I had fried shrimp and salad and baked potato...just not the salad alone that would have been a better choice. But, after eating one chocolate chip cookie for breakfast (disappointed in no snow...boy am I a reward eater) I am vowing to couple my walking with good food choices!!! So, we'll see if my body just shuts down after today's 6 miler to allow me to do it tomorrow and complete my first week of 175 days to goal hitting my exercise goal...the next week I'll work on coupling the exercise with good food choices...atleast I know my muscles are there! :) They're SCREAMING at me! :) I told my husband my wrist and elbows are the only things that don't hurt. Funny, how you use these to feed your mouth!!! :confused3

Great job Jen on the forbidden pants!!! I LOVE wearing forbidden clothing!! My closet is full of them! :)

Debra! 23 minutes is AWESOME!!! I'm sooo proud of you!!! I GUARANTEE you when you work up to 2-3 miles you will notice such a difference in your energy level and just all around good feeling! :)

Kathy! You are my inspiration for walking...with all your training and dealing with the weather you deal with I realized I have noooo excuse! :) ARen't you THRILLED to be in the 160's!! LEt's say it together...NO MORE 170's!!! :)

Tara

Morning (again!) :sunny:

We won our game last night, too...we actually kind of owned the whole thing! Except for one of their guys punched one of our guys right in the kisser. Not very nice.

Today I cleaned out my closet and am mostly printing pics for Senior Scrapbooks...

Hang in there guys! :grouphug:

I'm back in the 70's :hippie: :hippie: :hippie: ! Groovy WI at 179 this am

Oh I LOVE the sparkling clippie! That is so cute! Let us know when and where we can link to it!

It will be fun having an official 'club' clippie! THANKS!

Guess What! I did another mile last night! (that's the good news). The bad news is I indulged in all the sleepover goodies (but what fun we had!). Today is back on track on my food plan.

BTW, Six weeks from today I fly to Orlando for our Disney Cruise vacation! YEAH! Bad news....I haven't lost a single pound (in fact, I am up 2 as of this morning) this year. I have 6 weeks, I have to get on track now. Six weeks will go by fast!

Debra

Does anyone know if this clippie can get uploaded to DIS's server. Does anyone have that capability. I've seached the site, and all I can find is if you're a Silver sponsor or higher...

KathyT - love the clippie

Tara - don't push the walking too fast. You will end up with over training injuries. While training for the marathon, I followed a training schedule that started with a 20 min walk 2 days per week, cross training 2 days, and a long walk on weekends. The first long walk was only 2 miles. I had to force myself no th go further since I was of the opinion anything less than 3 miles was a waste of time. You need to gradually increase you mileage and give your body 1 -2 days per week to rest. You can go to the martathon training tread and look at some of the sites listed in the first post each week to see how the pros set up trianing schedules.

Debra - at first the more you exercise, you will show a weight gain. You are building muscle which weight more than fat. Eventually you will start losing again because the muscle burs more calories while working out.

Jen - you are doing great. Great job on fitting into the forbidden pants.

Linda - how is the exercise going? What do you start for a new position next week?

Maria - how is the walking going? Remember, at this stage of the training you are really training to train. You might want to go over to the marathon training thread and see what others ore doing to get ready for the actual marathon training which won't start until Oct.

To everyone else, Have a great healthy day.

I found the info on file sizes in signatures here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=947493

The only thing I'm concerned about is the total images for sig's (3) should be no more that 50kb. My clippie is already 36kb, eating much of this total. I could provide a "still" version for those who want a smaller file size clippie??

It appears below and is only 6kb.

KathyT that is an awesome clippie! I don't the answer to that but wonder if you asked on the tech board if they would let you know. I am thinking about paying for a lifetime sponsership, if I do then I could host it up there. Just trying to get DH to see how beneficial the DIS has been for all our trips & that it is worth the price to be a lifetime sponsor! :)

Jen--CONGRATS on getting to the 170s! May your stay there be short. :thumbsup2

Tara-Are you in training for a race? Awesome job on all that walking!!!!

Debra-Wow, you're right those 6 weeks will fly by but great job doing another mile! Those sleepover snacks are but a mere memory now. :goodvibes

I kicked butt today! At the gym at 7:45, I did the incline treadmill and man does that work out the gluts! I could only do 20 mins at 15-20% incline & the sweat was pouring off me, lol. I got in another 25 mins on my Precor x-trainer before I did my hour long Pilates class. Now I'd like to go back to bed please.....but I have to clean the house & do laundry.

Hope everyone has a great day--the sun is shining here for a change & boy what a difference that makes. :sunny:

Hey Kathy! I wrote a message on the moderator's forum...hopefully, I'll have an answer...I'd like to have the glittery one and I'll just remove my other ones! :) I do know that the WISH clipart (weight loss clippies) do not count towards your total 50kb...they're a freebie to encourage weight loss. So, I'm hoping to put both the glittery one and the non-one on the front page of this thread so folks can choose. I'm trying to figure a way to get it added on the WISH clipart stickie....will figure this out in a couple of days! :)

I think it looks great!
Tara

Tara,

Let me know what you find out. I created another glittering version that's 24kb, if size becomes an issue. I just shorted the duration a little, and it looks esentially the same.

Glad you all like it. I have to go offline now and exercise. All this sitting at the computer has done very little towards actually getting into the 150's :rotfl:

KathyT

Kathy....you are soo right about pushing it too far...I knew back in October I was used to the 20 miles per week and figured I could just jump right back in...but two days of 4 miles in a row were quite the shock to this body! I took yesterday off...there was no way I could walk 6 miles...the aleve helped and today I think I can knock off 4 more miles but not the six...I think I'll wait till next weekend to do one of those...so for my first week back to walking I'll have done 12 miles and that's probably best for now.

Nope not training for a marathon...just have 175 days to get to goal...and I can only do it with consistent movement...20 miles a week seems to be the point where my bodies fuel burning overcomes my few cheats every now and then and I consistently lose 1-2 pounds a week...that's what needs to happen for me to make it to goal in 175 days...need to see when that date is so I can think of a celebratory way of meeting it! :)

KathyT...I've got a guy who's going to walk me through putting both up on the disboard server....hopefully he'll get back to me today! :) Thanks so much guys! I can't wait to see that clippie!!!! :)

CONGRATS Jen on getting back into the 170's....I'm coming!!! Remember we both had been below 175...we will kick the 170's this time and not look back....so enjoy being 179...it's the last time you'll see it! :)

Off to slimfast...yesterday was much too much eating...taco salad, eggs/sausage/chicken and oh yes fries....all that sodium and fat....AAARGH! So, I"m flushing the slimfast today just to give my body a reality check.

Talk to you guys soon!
Tara

Boy you losers are busy. I have been off the computer for a few days, and I see it's going to take a bit to get through all the messages.

The personal trainer seemed to work all the muscles that where living the good life and not doing anything. I started with a 10 minute warm-up on the treadmill at a 3.7 pace. Than we stretched the legs, abs and back. As I just rolled out of bed I really needed the stretch. Than the torture began. She started with walking lunges with 3 lb weights in each hand. I did 5 across the floor, turned did 5 more and repeated for 20 of them. Than I moved on to a ball and held the 3 lbs weights and did some flys for the chest. It seems to me that if there was enough botox to go around I could just get that injected around my chest and those "twins" would go back to where they belonged. It would also be alot less painful that doing all those flys. I think I did 10 to start. Than I move to the step, where I stepped up with the right foot, curled the weights and raised the left leg with the knee toward the chest for 8. Than I switched legs. KILLER!!! Than I repeated that whole sequence. Than she had the audacity to ask me to jump rope for a minute to get me heart rate up....HELLO, I was already breathing hard and those legs weren't doing anything.

So than we moved onto the arms where I worked with bands. She held the middle of a band in her hands and I took the handles, the first time I did rows for 10, than I got on the ball again and this time I had a weighted ball and I did sit ups to her, passed the ball, went down again and got the ball back when I went back up. Than I took the band again, with her holding the middle and did curls. I did this sequence 3 times. Than I did the treadmill for 5 minutes and than stretched again.

I get to go back on Tuesday evening, and than on Thursday morning.

So now we got dumped on with 20 inches of snow. The kids took 20 minutes to get dressed, went out for 10 and than in they came. It is really blowing so, I'm sure it is no fun.

Jen, way to go on the smaller size :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

I live the clippie, the one with the glitter going on. I hope we are able to do something with it.

Tara glad to see you are getting in the grove again.

NYCPA Thanks for highlighting all our acheivements. It's nice to see what we are all accomplishing.

I'm sorry that I am forgetting things, Mickaellya, is climbing all over me and the laptop.

Thanks

Oofie poofie! Today started out as a big bust. I had all of the following for breakfast:

spaghetti
strawberries
apple
cinnamon roll

and nothing for lunch yet.

To quote a poster I saw in the hall at a school where there was a basketball game: Even if you are on the wrong road, it is never too late to turn back.

I will end the day strong and get some water in me!

Happy Monday!! :sunny: :sunny:

Hope those of you on the East Coast are handling the snow!! Wow you really got hit hard........sending good thoughts pixiedust:

Still hanging at 170.5 grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr looking for the solvent which will unstick me :rotfl: :rotfl:

Not working today - first day off the 5 week assignment and she didn't have anything for me :sad2: Not happy - no work/no money BUT I am going to change this into a positive and go to a yoga class this morning.......take puppy for a walk in the brrrrrrrrrrrrrr :cold: and work on cleaning the house....sounds ambitious - let's see how I do :rotfl: ;)

Jen- How did you day end up? Were you able to get your water in? Hope you are feeling better!!

Where is everyone else? Hope you had a losing weekend and a moving Monday.

Have a Magical Disney Day!!
Linda

I am on the Jersey shore and we only got about 6 to 8 inches. My school is closed today because they are inland more and they usually get hit a little harder. My sons and husband have a delay. My older son will be home but he will sleep most of the day away so I have the house to myself in a little while. I plan to clean and then maybe do some sewing and crocheting.

Have a nice day everyone.

Spaghetti for breakfast? Jen, I can tell you are a teenager! My middle aged stomach couldn't handle that at all (the cinnamon roll, though, YUM! ).

I am sitting here cold and getting colder! My furnance is broken and the repair people can't come until this afternoon! :guilty:

I have a space heater in the living room trying to keep that room warm, but the computer is in the family room so I am cold right now.

Maybe my shivering will burn up some calories!

We only got a little snow, so the roads aren't bad here and by Wednesday it is suppose to get up to 50 degrees!

I am still trying to get rid of the 'sleepover party' weight. Oh to be young and able to eat whatever/whenever!

Debra

Good Morning all,

Well I had every intention of getting to the gym this AM but low and behold Mickaellya missed me last night and was up. Actually I think she had gas but I prefer to think the other. Also DH is out of town for Reserves this week and the first night is difficult to fall asleep. So the plan is tomorrow to get up at 4:30, get to the gym, and walk for at least 30 minutes. Than in the evening, I get trained by the PT and than do Pilates class. My oldest DD will babysit for me. I can always skip the Pilates class if things get too hectic here for her.

I was told by a moderator that my siggie was to long, so I had to cut it back. With that being said, I thought the WISH things didn't count. Does anyone know the real deal.

Donac.. Glad you made out ok with the snow.

Jen. So tell us how you finished the day. I think after you wrote what you put in your mouth, you probably shocked yourself and said "Self..shape up or ship out". Just don't knock yourself. We all having cravings and we need to act on them occasionally.

Here's to a losing week

Good Morning!

We're digging out from 17.5 inches of snow. No school today, so I'm home with ds. DH stayed home, too. We both used ds as an excuse. I just could not face the commute. As far as I'm concerned, this is a good use of a vacation day, especially since we aren't going anywhere for February vacation next week.

I actually did half of my handwash this morning. An extra weekend day is like a gift -- I'm getting to all kinds of stuff I procrastinate. Tomorrow shouldn't be too shocking at work -- I'm sure the few hardy souls who actually went won't make too much work for me, plus my boss is on vacation for two weeks, so she won't be dumping any more projects on me, hopefully. I say hopefully because she took her laptop skiing, so who knows what she'll think of for me to do. :confused3

This weekend was o.k. foodwise. When I had pizza, I ate one piece (cheese), and had Greek salad with it. I did have two cupcakes - I love buttercream frosting, you know, the real stuff. We had a "friend" birthday party for ds (translation: he only wanted boys at his "real" party, so we did this with family friends). The kids came in their pjs and watched videos. I made candy trays for each kid, muffin trays with 6 types of goodies and their initials on each tray. I did not eat any of the candy, so that was good. I did have a handful or two of the movie theater butter popcorn...

I watched Fever Pitch friday while I did my long walk. It felt great, and was a cute movie. I think it's much better if you live in Red Sox nation. If I was still living in St. Louis, I think it would have annoyed me.

Still haven't made it to the scale, but I am going to do it this week. It may be Friday, but I will get on, honest. Today I'm doing my 45 minute jog at 3:00. I made an appointment with myself so I don't just drift through the day and not have it happen, which would not be unheard of.

Today's food plan:

B - raisin bran w/milk
L - Greek salad
S - Babybel
D - TBD
S - hot tea and 100 cal cookies

KathyT-- Hang in there. Weight fluctuates. Just do the right things, because that is what you can control. Easier said than done, I know! ;)

Debra -- Stay as warm as you can! You know, if you get on the TM you will raise your body temperature... :goodvibes

Dona -- It sounds like you have a very nice day planned. Glad you are able to relax and enjoy! :cloud9:

Linda -- I hope you had a fantastic time at yoga. And I hope you work again soon! Enjoy your solitude at home and let the peace wash over you! :hippie:

Jen -- You can start over as many times as you like. Every meal and snack is a new chance to make good choices. I'm with Debra, I don't know how you ate spaghetti for breakfast! I too long for those cast iron stomach days!

Tracy -- The personal training session sounds absolutely fabulous! Hard work, but you know you are going to see some wonderful results before you know it. ::yes::

Tara -- I know you are pushing hard, but remember to love yourself while you're doing it. Your muscles (and mine) are not 15 anymore, and they need a little more patience than they once did. Remember, slow and steady wins the race...! :snail:

Kathy -- I am really proud of my training to train last week. Three TM sessions that I hope to boost to four this week. I'm waiting until President's Day sales to get an exercise bike. Then I really think my crosstraining will take off. I've also been adding crunches and firehydrants when I think of it. I'm following the Marathoning for Mortals plan, sort of. I need to get the crosstraining in, and think about what I want to increase. I've been doing speed instead of distance, but I'm wondering if that makes sense? My problem is it's hard to me to increase much with time, I really don't have more than an hour for two of my weekly workouts...any ideas? You are our resident expert!

Everyone have a fabulous day!
Maria

I think I did very well towards the end. I got a good amount of water in...about 64 ounces. Lunch was a sandwich. Dinner was a salad with chicken and bread and butter.

Today was:
B: egg with ham (2), one serving (2 slices) of that new Wonder Whole Grain White bread (3)=5
L: hamburger, baked potato=4
S: ???
D: I think it's another salad night...and some fruit.

Okay-one question. For my church, we do this thing called 30-Hour Famine. It's to experience hunger first hand and to raise money. How I can I do this healthfully because I have a basketball game that same night?

And I think I have a summer job. That's the good news. The bad news is that it's at an ice cream shop!

I've got my motivation back, guys! My youth group is going to this super cool indoor waterpark called Kalahari in March. I am going to wear this nifty black swimsuit (it was the one I wore at WDW). It looks stunning...but there's a little pooch out in front I'm not particularly fond of...and I want to feel good about wearing a suit! So that is my motivation!!!

Must dash-play practice! :wave2:
