Where can we non WW gals get them. The swirl bars not the carrots. What was your excerise like when you first started to now?

The Philly Swirl bars aren't a "Weight Watchers" product, they just put the points (or the Zero Points) information on the box, but they aren't affiliated with WW.

Here is the website for them:

http://www.phillyswirl.com/products/sfstix.cfm

Go to the store locator to find where to buy them in your area. Only the Sugar Free ones have 10 calories. They have others that have more calories. The only store in my town that sells the sugar free ones is Meijers.

As for exercise. I don't. I need to, and I did clear off my treadmill, but haven't gotten into it yet. I did walk for the month of October, but when I didn't lose any extra weight after walking 3-5 miles five times a week, I stopped (plus it got cold). I just really don't like to exercise, but I am hoping to work on that in the New Year so I am in good shape for our cruise. I really lost the weight from cutting back on calories.

Morning All!!

Just a quick hello

Holiday stress is in full bloom :flower: :flower: Not enough hours in the day to get it all done :teeth: But hanging in there........

Weight is still hanging too high at 173 but at least it is not creeping up!!

Someone is coming to look at the pool table after Christmas - hoping that it will be gone and I can set up my exercise area :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Hope everyone is having a maintaining or losing kind of week. I know it is crazy but we CAN make it work.

Have a Magical Disney Day!!
Linda

Schatz5k....I think you are really mastering making exercise a habit!!! I saw alot of moving going on in your neck of the woods! :) That will keep you strong and fit through this holiday madness! :) Keep up the great work!

Debra....I keep seeing that picture of your hubby carrying you...that keeps me motivated!!! Anyone else want to share some pictures??? When I get back below 170's...hopefully next week...I"ll have my husband take some shots and I'll post my highest (actually I don't think I have pictures of me at 258...no way was I going near a camera!) but I do have some of me at 245...so that's close enough! :)

About to pass off 3 children this morning...had a slumber party last night and they're soooo full of energy! :)

Wish I had as much! Had eggs/bacon/waffle water for breakfast and will slimfast the rest of the day with fruit in between. Gotta flush away some junk from this weekend!

How's everybody doing?
Tara

Good morning. It is so good to see other people being able to lose weight or maintain it. It is great inspiration.

I am injuredthis week. Sat morning I stubbed my little toe. Usually the pain goes away but it didn't this time. It is a lovely shade of purple. I did nothing on Sunday just sat around and did some paperwork. I had to ride my exercise bike this morning to get a work out in. No yoga until next week because the tape is always stressing to spread your toes.

It really slowed down my Christmas shopping. I am all done with the families but we have very little for our sons. Luckily they are 15 adn 20 and don't need Santa. My husband is doing some shopping for them today after he gets out of work. We will get it done.

Hope everyone has a great day

Hi everyone!
Boy, our little club has gotten a lot more quiet lately! I wonder if it is the the Christmas stuff ;) .

Well, I have one kid out on break, and the other is home sick today from school. My house is a mess, but I won't clean until Friday because my sister is coming on Saturday and if I clean now it will just be dirty again by the weekend.

Over did the eating this weekend, but I am trying to get back in line this week so I can splurge again this weekend. It will really help once we are past New Years. We have too many goodies around! But I SO do NOT want to gain during this holiday season. For me, New Years can be just as bad as Christmas. I don't know why, but I tend to eat a lot on New Year's Eve (probably because I am up late).

So, hang in there everyone! Please post and let us know what is going on. Even if the food/dieting isn't going the way you would like. Just remember the new year is just around the corner and it WILL be easier after that!

Stay Warm!
Debra

Morning group!!

How many days before this craziness is over? :crazy2: :rotfl: This week just keeps getting nuttier and nuttier. There is a big part of me that will be happy when January 1 rolls around........at this point I will take December 26:):)

Have not been making the best food choices because there are too many gooey fat laden ones to choose from. Right now in the fridge sitting next to the salad and carrots is yummy leftover Chinese and Buffalo Wild Wings boneless wings......Now you tell me which I should eat and WHICH sounds better :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Just going to maintain this week - I surrender in the losing department.

Debra - So sorry to hear DD sick - :wizard: hope she is feeling better soon.

Did I mention how cold :cold: Chicago is??? More cold headed your way and it isn't even winter :faint:

Donac - how is the toe feeling? Are you able to put shoes on? YEOW!!! that hurts. Can't wait to get rid of the pool table so I can join you in yoga.....love it!!

Still haven't finished wrapping presents - off to do deal with it.........and other mundane parts of life.

Have a Magical Disney Day!!
Linda

It is just as crazy here in NJ as every where else. At least I don't have to go into New York where a transit strike hit this morning.

My toe is feeling better. Even though it was swollen I was still able to put on shores since my shoes have gotten too big for my feet since I lost 20 pounds.

I still have presents to buy but I am getting there, Cards and packages are going out tonight then I have to start wrapping the rest of the stuff. My frig is getting emptier and emptier. I didn't buy too much to put in it since I have to get my Christmas food on Friday and Sat. That's when it reallly gets full. Just need to get through the three parties over the next three days.

Good luck to everyone.

Hi Guys!

It feels like time is passing either in slow motion or at an accelerated rate, sometimes both in the same day. I'm not even sure where I am in all the posts, so I'll just recap yesterday and plan for today!

I did my TM time, and upped myself to 4.3 mph. It was harder, but I did o.k. Then there was my eating. Half a Tony's cheese pizza is not a good sign. But, the rest of the day was acceptable.

Today is an "off" TM day. I did do laps around the office for an hour this morning before anyone else arrived. It's something, which is better than nothing. This afternoon when I walk to the subway it will be about 32 degrees, so that's bound to burn a few calories. I had oatmeal & raisins for breakfast, and I'm planning FF tuna salad/crackers and Ritz mix for lunch, and apple & Babybel for snack, and tuna casserole for dinner. With a lovely piece of chocolate for dessert.

Tomorrow I'll be back on the TM, so I'm looking forward to that. I've really been enjoying it, and have done well so far with basically every other day.

I am so sleepy from not getting enough rest...I finished my wrapping yesterday afternoon. I still want to do some baking, construct a gingerbread house with ds, and take some time to enjoy my home and decorations. I'm just working today and Thursday this week, so that should all come together. I am hoping for a pretty early night tonight, especially if I want to get up and TM before ds's pageant. He's home for his break at noon, so this is my last chance to work out ds-free for two weeks.

Dona -- Sorry to hear about your toe. Good luck with all those parties! I know what you mean about your fridge. By the time we have leftovers from Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, we will be busting out the seams -- and just as we toss the last of those goodies it will be time for New Year's Day! :dancer:

Linda -- I sympathize with your cold. It was 15 today when I left for work. That's just wrong. :cold:

Debra -- It's New Year's Day that's hard for me. We lay around and watch football, and eat all kinds of things we never make the rest of the year. Why am I surprised that this results in weight gain? :rolleyes1

Tara -- How's that water intake coming? I had a cup of tea, and I'm on my first 16 oz. bottle of the day. I hope you get some time for yourself today, you deserve it after taking care of the slumbering masses! :goodvibes

Tracy -- You are doing so much for yourself by just coming here. Getting the support of this community can really help get you through the tough times. And, you will probably see a big loss all at once, so just hold on to that thought. If you are doing what you need to in order to lose, it will happen. It takes perseverence over the long haul, which you clearly have! :flower:

Tiff -- Thanks for the encouragement about the half marathon! I am really getting excited about the idea. I can't wait until Santa brings my Marathoning for Mortals book (and he'd better...or else I'll buy it myself next week!) ;)

Jen, Kathy, Haley, and all our other wanderers...I hope you are having a wonderful time and you find your way back to us! We're ready to hit the New Year losing!

Maria

Maria,
I guess New Year's Day is hard for me too. Usually have left overs from the night before (we don't have company over, it is just DH, me and the kids, but we always have lots of snacks and stay up to watch the new year come in).

I looked at my Weight Watcher card to see what day I did weigh in for the first time when I started this journey. It was January 3rd. So that is when I started working on losing weight.

I also will be glad in a way when it is all over, but then in a way, I hate to see the Christmas season pass. I wish Santa could grant me the gift of being able to eat all I want without ever gaining any extra weight! I just don't get how some people are able to do that!

Hang in there everyone! We will make it through and we will all be there ready to go after the New Year.

I wonder how Jen is doing in WDW. We watched PAX last night and they had the "Night of Joy" special from WDW on and it made me homesick! I have to wait until March!

Take care everyone one! And Linda and Maria and all of the rest of you that are freezing like we are.....try to stay warm! I am actually drinking coffee! Decaf, but still, I NEVER drink coffee. I bought some sugar free creamer that is French Vanilla Caramel flavor (very good) so that helps the taste. I am ready to do anything to stay warm! This weekend we are suppose to get up to 40. I will believe it when I see it. :cold:

Hi Loser's

So talk about not have all the presents wrapped. That would be the story of my life, by the time I get all the kids to bed and know that is where they are staying it's 10 o'clock and I've fallen asleep in my recliner 4 times. So needless to say I'll probably get home from mass on Christmas Eve and instead of putting presents under the tree before I go to bed, I'll be wrapping.

So far this week I'm 2 for 2 for going the gym. I've been getting there around 5 am and working out for about 45 minutes. This week has been better with the water, but my food choices have alot to be desired. The food that has been in my house is why people gain weight. So I too am looking foward to the first of the year when I can get my act together. I will say however that my size 16 jeans are fitting less snuggly.

So I have been behind in the posts to which I apologize, I have been extremely busy with the stuff I volunteer to do at school. I have that disease to please thing happening.

Let's work on maintaining and reaffirming our goals Jan 1, 2006.

Ugh- I have been eating horribly since I went home last weekend!!! At least I have kept up the exercise so maybe I haven't done too much damage. And horrible for me now is much, much better than it used to be. I am getting back on track tomorrow.

2 weeks from today I will be checking into WL  And I plan on looking & feeling as good as possible.

I have a couple of presents left to wrap. Plus DS birthday is tomorrow. Haven't wrapped one of those presents yet. I get to take 3 boys to Chuck E. Cheese's tomorow. So who's jealous? :teeth:

Drink that water & flush out that fat you bunch of losers! :drinking1

Morning Everyone!!

Well the presents are all wrapped except one - waiting on an internet shipment that I hope makes it here on time otherwise - Plan B!!

Still have not found the Christmas spirit - the first time in my life that I am just going through the motions :confused3 I think it is because there has been NO downtime and there won't be after Christmas......too hectic. Counting the days until the tree can come down BAH HUMBUG!! Someone give this girl a drink of Holiday Cheer :rotfl:

Another problem is my mental state about my body. I am turning 50 in a couple of weeks and thought my health would be in better shape. The only thing I accomplished was getting bigger :guilty:

SO I HAVE TO STOP THE RUNAWAY TRAIN and make 2006 a thinner me!!!

Let's keep committing to a healthier group :grouphug:

I am working on my first 20 oz of water - how about you?

Tiff - Have fun at Chuck E Cheese :rotfl2: Those days are gone for me and that's OK!!

Schatz - WOO HOO for you on getting to the gym :cheer2: It will help offset the food in the house - Let's clean those fridges for the new year!!

Debra - WOW!! What a GREAT year for you!! You are proof that WE CAN DO THIS!! I agree about New Year's Eve. We go to our good friends house and they have appetizer after appetizer......I am in FAT HEAVEN :rotfl: So I am going to finish this eating year with a bang!! And start the new year with a NEW ATTITUDE!! :Pinkbounc How is DD feeling?

Maria - Keep trucking on the TM......someone is coming next week to look at the Pool Table - wishing and hoping that it will be gone by the New Year!! I will catch up!!

When does Jen come back?

Donac - How did the parties go? Did you drink your water? Glad to see your toe is feeling better!!

Puppy is letting me know that it is pooping time..........so.........

Have a Magical Disney Day!!
Linda

Good morning everyone. The parties are still going and I just filled up my water bottle and I got out of the main office. All the secretaries have food on their desk. The math dept had a party this morngin but I had some students in to make up a test so I didn'thave time to go. I did have a piece of quiche that I made but that was my breakfast since I didn't have time for it before I left the house.

Linda - I turned 50 this past MAy and I still have a long way to go but at least I am doing something about it.

I heard a quote but I don't know who said it but it helps me when I think about being 50.

40 is the old age of youth but 50 is the youth of old age.

You have so much potential and there is still time to use it. Enjoy the trip. It's not so bad from someone who is a little ahead of you.

I love that! I am 45, but 50 doesn't seem all that far away. I am just glad that Oprah has gone before me because she makes it look so good. I see pictures of her 20 years ago and now, and she looks so much better now. She is beautiful (of course she is rich and can pay for the best stylist....but still, it gives me hope).

Linda, 2006 is going to be a great year for you! I know right now it is hard. This is such a tough time of year. DH just brought home one of those big tins of popcorn (with the butter, caramel, and cheese popcorns) that someone at the office gave him. No matter how hard you try, there is always something popping up at this time to get in your way of dieting.

Hang in there! Once New Year's day is over things will get easier. It won't ever be easy, but it will be easier. Once the holidays are over, give yourself some time and come up with a plan. Something that can work for you. My aunt starts out with Slim Fast every New Year. I don't like it, and it doesn't work for me, but it does some some people.

Last year, what I did, was come up with a food plan to get me through January (taking one month at a time).

I decided on the 1200 calorie a day diet. So I broke up my calories like this:

Breakfast: 200 calories
Lunch: 300 Calories
Afternoon snack: 100 Calories
Dinner: 500 calories
Evening Snack: 100 Calories

Then to make it easier I bought:

100 calories snack bags (I like the Ritz Mix and the Chocolate Chip cookies).
Instant Oatmeal packages (and I used 1% milk with it)
Minute Maid Light Raspberry Drink (I used instead of juice for breakfast)
300-350 calories or less frozen dinners for lunch

Then for dinner I would have whatever I made for for the family, but I would measure it out and look up the calories and keep it to 500 calories (I would also use a salad plate instead of a dinner plate for my food....then my plate didn't look empty and it made it harder to put extra on it---I am still using a salad plate for dinner now even though I am at goal. It is just a better size for the amount of food I should eat).

This worked for me, and through the year I kept to this basic plan, but I have made changes. You can't eat the same thing for a year  , but I did this all through January and then I changed my lunch to 1/4 of a frozen Totino's pizza each day (I broke it a part before baking it and would just use the toaster oven and baked a piece of pizza each day for lunch and had hot peppers to put on it). Then later I got those 2% cheese sticks (100 calories each) and crackers for lunch.

But to start out, don't think past January. I started the Lost 5 For January and did that challenge each month. I ONLY thought about those 5 pounds. I was too overwhelmed to think about all the weight I really had to lose. It made it more fun to be part of the challenge.

So anyway.......that is my advice. Start to get serious on January 2nd. Take one month at a time and set a reasonable goal (and 5 pounds is reasonable). Come up with an eating plan that will take you through the day (don't use up your calories or points (if you are on Weight Watchers) early in the day because at the end of the day you will be hungry--same some of your food for later on).

Well, time to go clean up the kitchen. DD is still sick today, so both kids are home and that makes the house even messier! Even with one sick (the other DD seems to like to 'make' food for the sick DD, but when she 'makes' food she also 'makes' a mess  , but at least she is trying to help her sister).

Debra

Hi All,

Well I haven't made it to the gym for the past two days. I was there Mon and Tue, Tuesday after I got done working there, DH and I did a bit of Christmas shopping. Got home 11:30, at 12:30am DD age 1 got up. She has a terrible cold, so she couldn't breath and she had a tummy ache. So no sleep for the mom on Tuesday night. Wednesday night I was up until 1 am wrapping gifts, so needless to say I did not see 4:30 to get up an go to the gym. Today will be another late night to finish up the wrapping. OY Vay. With 6 children, all believing in Mr. Claus, I have to wait until everyone is asleep. I'm sure this will be the last year for my 11 yo DD.

I have been getting the water in however, so at least I feel I'm doing something right. I too plan on being strict at the start of the new year. At the gym, I'm going to start and excerise challange and a weight loss challange. The club owner is figureing out what we can give to people who meet their goals. I would also like to start a walking challange. The club (sorta like curves but owned by Nurtisystem) has 2 treadmills in.

I got lucky today at my favorite discount grocery store. A box of the 100 calorie oreos for .99. I check the price at the grocery store I go to and they sell for $2.79 in there. I brought 3 boxes. I also bought 2 bags of carrots, hoping to use those as my snack in the mid afternoon.

Happy losing everyone and if I don't get back here before Sunday, I hope you all have a Merry Christmas and/or Happy Hanukah!!!!!

KUDOS KUDOS to all of you sticking to your exercise goals!!! I LOVE seeing those 2/2 exercise days! :) I'm alas, far behind any goal! :) But, with the holidays on the crest...I'm sure I'll fall back into my typical schedule..

Tiff!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY to your dear son!!! I always have a little sympathy for those with birthdays near Christmas...my husband declared if we had any children with December birthdays he would throw them 2 parties a year! :) I told him how unfair that was but he has buried resentment from his Jan 6th birthday and everyone just giving him his birthday presents on Christmas and his parents being too pooped to give him a decent party...I told him it was his parents not the placement of his day! :) So CONGRATS on making your son's day special!!!

Debra...love hearing your posts...it's sooo cool to envision you at GOAL:!!!! When the New Year begins I commit to overhauling this thread and updating and hopefully finding/encouraging any who have given it a rest for a while...we'll start the New Year listing all the 150'ers and your name will be in gold! :)

I've done okay on portion control..but for maintaining not losing...we got a puppy...(yes, I did read all of Linda's posts about Cody...even named mine Cady without realizing how close it was to her Cody) and I still got a puppy! :) After 3 nights...we've pretty much got her trained!!! She's not had an accident since her first 5 minutes in our house...she's very predictable and I'm very diligent about taking her out when needed (boy, that first night of every 30 minutes was PAINFUL!!) but now, last night I took her out 4 times between 11-6am...so that was much better...the kids are all being great with her...her first vet visit is tomorrow..she's 6 weeks tomorrow and is part black lab/part "Babe" dog...I think they call it a border collie....but ours is looking more like the lab than the collie combo.

Everyone...3 days till Christmas...I can't wait to see how we all survived and made smarter choices...and how our fitness mindset is so much more improved than last year! :)

Love you guys!

That is so sweet of you, but honestly, I feel like I am only half way there. I have been at 'goal' before MANY times, but I have never been successful at maintaining my goal weight for a lengthy period of time. So for me, I am continuing this journey hoping that by this time next year I can say I am still at my goal.

I am getting nervous about the weekend also. I hope it doesn't do me in too bad. Then we go to Ohio to visit the in-laws. I am sure there will be more goodies there! Oh, if only I could make it through the rest of the month without too much damage!

OK, hang in there! We will all be fine.

"There's a great big beautiful tomorrow shining at the end of every day." (I love that song from WDW--we are so nerdy, my girls and I sing that in the van when we are driving around ;) ).

Debra

Hey!! Has anyone heard from Jen( Tigercheer 2009)? ..I 'm wondering how her trip to Disney went...didn't Kathy say she was going, too? I'd love to hear how beautiful it is at Christmas! :)

Debra...you need that GOAL clippie on you for good!! I think you know it will stick this time! :)

Have a GREAT Christmas everyone!
Tara

Jen's been back for about three days now, but has only now gotten resettled in!!!

Disney was wonderful. I loved it so much. In fact, I wish it were my home! And I've gotten all of my family hooked too!!!

Our first day mainly consisted of getting there, relaxing, monorail cruisin' and having the most disappointing cheesecake of my life.

I still need to Christmas shop.

Today was cheerleading party!! Fun!!

Hopefully the last day of out of control eating. My mind still thinks it's in Disney but it's not...

B: ramen noodles
L: LOTS of crackers
S: 2 slices pizza, a smidge of mac n cheese and hotdogs cut up in it, spaghetti sauce
D: was the most remotely healthful thing I ate all day! Tortilla crusted tilapia, salad, mashed potatoes and a smidge of cheesecake.

Lotsa water today though. That's good. Some good exercise too (we're working on a cheer clinic schedule for the littler girls) and lots of posters are done now!

AND AND AND!!! I resisted the cake and sweets at the party today!!!! AND THE POP! I stuck to my Pop Century mug filled with ice water.

What did I miss guys?...

Dinner at Pop first night:
1 cheesesteak wrap, 1 marshmallow cheesecake
1 penne with meatballs and breadstick, Tyedye cheesecake
1 hotdog and fries, Mickey bar
1 dble cheeseburger and fries, Tye dye cheesecake (okay-I am addicted to cheeseburgers...me thinks I might have to do another 100 day challenge...)

Hotdog eater (my picky brother) loved his meal. All the cheesecake getters were disappointed. Those were the worst cheesecakes I have ever eaten in my life. I couldn't even finish. And I LOVE cheesecake.

Talk to you all later-
Jen

Jen! Welcome Back!

Are you talking about the tie-dyed cheesecake at Pop? We liked it! Maybe you got a bad batch (but then my family really LOVES cheesecake).

Did you go to the GF to see the Gingerbread House? We have never stayed at that resort, but I like going there to look around and it is beautiful at Christmas time!

Tara, I'm not ready to put up my 'goal' clippie yet, I like looking at that 70 one :goodvibes (and the webmasters said you could only have 3 clippies), but maybe after awhile I will be ready to replace it.

DD is feeling better today. Still stuffy and a little coughing, but not bad. She only had a 3 hour day today at school, and tomorrow is just 3 hours again (teachers are posting grades), so she will be fine.

Tomorrow is a BIG cleaning day because my sister is coming on Saturday for Christmas Eve. She hasn't seen me since May and I haven't told her I have been losing weight....so this is going to be interesting. I hope she notices.

Talk to you guys tomorrow!
Debra
