WELCOME BELLE!!!! AWESOME job on the weight loss so far!!! I got more and more motivated each 10 pound increment gone and you're right at 30!!! That's a whole 3 year old you no longer carry around! :) Come on in and introduce yourself and let us know how we can encourage you!!!

TC-YEAH!!! AWESOME marching!! All that marching will help offset those pounds...keep it up! We'll have a mini celebration for you tomorrow! :)

Kathy..you are my idol for drinking water...I am averaging between 10 and 20 oz a day! I'm just not a thirsty person! After my am walks...I usually go straight to the bath and by then I'm really not thirsty! I'm going to make this a water week for me and see if that scale won't move more!

Tara

Evening all.

I want to take a moment to

WELCOME BELLE

You have come to the right place. We are a great group of adventures working our way to a healthier body.

Jen - AWESOME!! Marching band is not that big of a deal in the Chicago area but it sounds like something I would love to see. How often do you compete? It must be a crazy time for you but what a GREAT TIME!! And look look the uniform was toooooooo big WOO HOO :cool1: :cool1:

Tara - How about taking the water with you in the bath/shower and drinking it while you are turning on the water - while you are toweling off. Have you tried adding some of the flavored drink mixes or how about lemon or lime juice? I have a friend who hates drinking water but will drink flavored (no cals or sugars) sparkling water.

Off to make dinner..........just stopped by to say hi.

Have a Magical Disney EVENING :earsboy: ::MickeyMo :earsgirl:

Hi Linda!!!

With our old band director, we'd go on a competition trip every 2 years (like FL, Memphis, All-Ohio Tour) ...I missed the most recent one by a year! But we attend a competition annually called the Anthony Wayne Festival in Whitehouse, OH...only the best of the best go there! It's TONS of fun, and free! Ohmygosh-it was absolutely fabulous!!! Scary, but SUPER fun!! I'm so proud to be A) a band member and B) a smaller one at that!! You all really should come to see it if ya can. September 24th!

Welcome Belle!

This is a great group!

Hey Everyone! I have a question. Do you guys really find that the water helps you lose the weight? Or does it just help make you feel full so you don't eat as much? I haven't really been drinking a lot of water. If it would help, I would give it a try.

I bought those Light Lays Sour Cream & Cheddar chips! YUM! I won't be getting them again. I like them TOO much! So I think I am at a stand still for now, but I always do better during the week than I do on the weekends.

Debra

Thank you all so much for the warm welcome!! Well let me introduce my self. I am going to be 24 next month and I am about to go back to school and I am planning on majoring in education. I have been overweight my whole life. In highschool I lost and got down to a size 16 and weighed about 210 which I was pretty happy with myself looks and all. Then throughout the years I have put on weight until at 265 I said enough is enough. I have never tried a diet until last May I just started counting my calories and try not to eat more than about 1200 or 1300 a day. I also exercise to the Firm tapes about 5 or 6 times a week. Right now I think I am at a plateu (spelling?). Or maybe I am holding onto a little extra water. I am not going to get discouraged and am going forward. I am going to WDW next May and want to be at around 200 or 175 which ever and then my ultimate goal is to be at 150 or less. I will be happy with 150!Thanks again for all your warm welcomes!!! :grouphug: :cheer2:

Belle,
I am counting calories too. It is working for me, and yes, there are times that you 'hold' you weight for awhile (maybe even experience a small gain), but stay with it! If you keep your calorie intake to what you listed and continue your exercise you will lose that weight!

Don't let the day to day or even the week to week numbers get to you too much. If you look month to month, you will really SEE the differences! That is why I love those 5 pound per month challenges. I joined the first one in January and have done it each month since then and have met the 5 pound challenge each month. So promise yourself not to get discouraged during the short time. At the end of a full month you will see results and you will be very pleased.

Glad you are joining us!
Debra

Welcome Belle, you will definately find a lot of support here. Congratulations on your weight so far.

TC - Happy Birthday, I don't know if I will be on tomorrow and I don't want to miss your birthday. Enjoy your marching and just try and get back on track with the eating.

Debra - I definately find that I do better when I drink my water, for me I think it does help me feel full, but I also lose more weight when I consistantly drink 60-70 oz per day.

Today was a busy day for me, I spent the late morning and early afternoon at our annual fair parade. This year was extra special, my Dad was picked to be the parade marshal because he is a retired firefighter.
This week always holds special memories for me. School always started the week after the fair, because this is a farming community and the 1 time they tried to start during the fair, very few kids showed. It was also 15 years ago this week that I met my DH. We were both working different booths at the fair, and ended up spending a lot of time together.

I did lose 1 lb this week, so I am back on the losing side.

Morning All!! :sunny:

The water weight from the run to Indiana University is gone!! :cool1: Back to 171.5 so that is my starting point for the "all about me" period in my life :rotfl2: :rotfl2: . Now the last time I tried this (at the beginning of the year) is when DD17 went into her emotional tailspin (we all remember that - thanks again for that support). :faint:

I signed up for the Lighter by Halloween and Thanksgiving challenges. Also am taking Debra's suggestion and doing the September 5 pound challenge. WOO HOO!! My Thanksgiving challenge is 15 pounds which would comfortably put me in the 150's. Can I do it? Can I do it? YES YES YES!!!!!!

Come join me with these challenges - LET'S DO IT TOGETHER!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Regina - Losing a pound is GREAT!! Keep going and let's all do it together!! :teeth:

Debra - I am going to work with counting calories - with all the diets and fads that have come and gone this is the basic rule that has never changed. Consume less calories then you think you need. Burn more than you eat. Like you I don't like to exercise unless it is with someone and I haven't met that person yet. How is your Sunday going?

Belle - (is that your real name?) - sounds like you are really on the right track to a healthier you!! Let's all stick together!! :bounce:

Debra - Forgot to add my 2 cents. YES I am a HUGE supporter of drinking your water. I really do feel it helps you lose weight by flushing out your system and helps keep you feeling full. I don't know of a single diet, fad or doctor that would argue that. All of us KEEP DRINKING :drinking:!!!!

I don't like the taste of straight water all day long - so I have found that adding lemon or lime helps. Also the Crystal Light On The Go packets - really like the lemonade or ice tea flavors. The instructions read to put a packet in a 20oz glass well I only sprinkle alittle in from BOTH flavors. I get flavored water and the packets last longer. The frugal in me:):) :)

Jen - Wish I lived closer - I would DEFINITELY come to a competition. I used to go to both DD's sychro skating competitions all the time. Congrats!! Is today your birthday? If so HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! :Pinkbounc :wizard: If not, enjoy your day anyway. :rotfl:

Ok team off to look at the Sunday sales ads. The grocery store, walking the dog and getting DD17 organized with college apps. UGH!! :rotfl: :teeth:

Also have to organize myself........work starts tomorrow - 4th grade classroom at a school that is challenging to say the least.

Have a Magical Disney Day!!

Thank you so much. I am glad to know I am not doing something wrong because I weighed this morning and had gained a pound. I have no clue why I haven't gone over 1200 calories a day and have been exercising. I started the 5 pound a month in August and lost 6 pounds and just yesterday I signed up for September. I really like doing the 5 pound a month challenges. I am trying to not let the numbers get to me and this is the first time I have put on a pound in a few months. The great thing about it is I am upset, but not that upset like I used to get!!! Oh and my real name is Jennifer!! :teeth:

Good morning!

Well, I so apologize for going AWOL, but the start of the school year was unbelievable. We ended up opening another section oh about...12 hours before school was slated to begin! The makeup of my team did not change in any way, but you could just sense the stress and tension in the school.

As for me, I will admit that sometimes I didn't eat a meal (like Friday night when I feel asleep in bed at 5pm and slept until 1:30am...oops!) and other times I made pretty good choices. I did have a gain this week of 1 lb, but I'm ok with that...I didn't plan ahead enough...bad teacher...lesson learned! ;)

My kids are really, really great and I'm so lucky to have some of the sweetest kids in the world! I love kids with manners and these seem to be very polite! :) I'm just grateful, as always, to have a job for another year! :)

Here's your thought for the week:
"One should eat to live, not live to eat."

Hi everyone! :sunny:

I had a lot of fun last night. First, we went to grab a bite to eat in Point Pleasant with our two friends. I got a grilled chicken caesar salad which was excellent!!!! I love caesar salads! :goodvibes Then, we went to the boardwalk and played some games. It was very busy and I am glad to see (sorry in advance for this lol) that the "bennies" or NYers are finally going back home. The traffic has been ridiculous this year for us all.

Anyway, I won a *BIG* Champ Care Bear from one of those new life-size crane machines! I was so excited! Afterwards, we went to the bowling alley where I played my best ever! :cheer2: It was the first time I really stuck to bowling the "right way" as opposed to my traditional throwing it down the lane. Everyone was going nuts! We are thinking about forming a league of our own. I have to get a Disney bowling ball if that is the case! ::MickeyMo

Today, I plan on doing fat burning yoga for 45 minutes. It is way too humid outside to walk my few miles so I rather stay inside and sweat without killing myself. For lunch, I am going to finish the steamed shrimp and broccoli I ordered from the Chinese place we good from. It is really good. I am at a loss for dinner though. I guess we shall see!

Hope everyone has a good, healthy, DISNEY day! :grouphug:

Happy Birthday to Jen!!!

Here's some CAKE!!!!

Everyone!!! Let's dig in!!! Oh! First, Jen...let's sing a little dittie!
