Tiggerkeeper - great job. I haven't figured out how to conquer the food yet. My downfall is not bringing my lunch to work and getting chinese.

I walked on the TM for 45 min last night. My NIKE+ only recorded 36 min for some reason. I watched the second episode of Grey's Anatomy. That show could become addicting.

Maria - did you get your steps in last night? I have 45 min scheduled for tonight. Actulaay my plan only calls for 30 min but that doesn't match up to the vidoe.

Dona - how is your day going? Are you getting your water in?

Everyone else - eat healthy and drink lots of water. Have to act like I am working.

My day is going just the way I expected it to go. It is the last day before midterms and some kids want to study and some could care less.

I am on my second 16 ounce water botttle and I got up this morning and didn't feel like working out. After a few minutes I did 20 minutes of walking and 20 minutes of a yoga routine. I haven't done yoga in a while but I feel taller and more in control today. It also helps that last night the sun was still up at 5PM so that told me that we are starting to get out of the winter months.

Hope everyone has a great day. Keep up the good work

Dona, I have been wanting to try a yoga class do you recommend it? I am not very limber and thought maybe that would help. WTG on making yourself do some movement when you didn't want to move!! :thumbsup2 I am sooooo ready for the sun to give me some more walking time at night!! Good luck with those midterms!

Kathy, do you like your shoes? My sister and I were talking about those last weekend and I am interested in getting some. And you are so right about being prepared with lunch...oooh chinese food sounds good! :goodvibes

lennon, thanks...it has its downsides too....about every 3-4 weeks I need new clothes!! :rotfl: I really try to just buy a couple pair of jeans and make do with everything else. I have one pair of size 20 jeans left and I can stand in one leg. You can do this!! Just stay focused!! :woohoo:

Maria, how's it going today?? :cheer2:

Here's wishing everybody a great day!!

Melissa I love yoga and I am sorry that I let it go by the wayside these past few months. During last summer there was a yoga show on every morning at 6:30. If no one was up I did it. I have bought a lot of yoga tapes but I keep going back to Susan D or Rodney Ye. Borrow some from a video store or look for some on the sale racks at B&N or a k-mart. LOok for a beginners tape and give it try but not just once . Yoga takes some time to develop and you will feel strange at times but little by little you will see a difference. It teaches balance, focus and relaxation.

Good Mor, oops! Good Afternoon!

Last night I did 30 minutes on the exercise bike, for just over 8 miles. I think I'm supposed to be cross training twice a week? I'm confused over "building my base" and "being in training". I know I should be doing the former, but what is my base supposed to be? Probably the wrong forum for this question, but I'll throw it out there anyway.

My counting WW points is helping. I'm still not low enough, but hopefully today's the day. I couldn't believe the first day I counted. I ate 35 points without a single thought!

Today's meals:

B - cream of wheat w/blueberries, orange drink (4)
S - You snack mix (5)
L - LC Salmon, pasta & veggies, grapes (5)
S - carrots, green beans (0)
D - tbd + WW dessert (10)

I'm also drinking 2 32 oz. mugs of hot tea.

Melissa -- You are definitely an inspiration. I would keel over if I made it to a size 8, my mind would be in shock. Single digits seem like a fantasy...but I'm ready to dream big!:goodvibes

Dona -- I am proud of you for making an effort when you really didn't feel like it. That's how you will reach all your goals! :cool1:

Kathy -- I know this is a rudimentary question, but how many steps should I be doing? Can you recommend a good resource? I have Marathoning for Mortals... :confused3

Wendy -- Did you find a great dvd? Last night I was on the exercise bike to Van Halen: Live Without a Net. Having not ever seen them live, it was interesting to note that they were all clearly in altered states... :hippie:

Lennon -- Hope you are having a losing day! :thumbsup2

Michelle -- August will be here before you know it! That's what I tell myself when I want candy, gotta get in shape for fun in the sun! :sunny:

O.k., we're on track and we're ready!
Maria

I feel like I won't get anything done for me this week! I have appointments all week and it leaves me no time for myself. Because I'm at home with the kids by myself, I have little time to exercise as it is. If I don't get it done during nap-time, it won't get done. I should start doing it in the morning after Nachito goes to school, but I'm tired from being up with the baby at night and I just want to go to sleep. I also need to work on getting more water. I try but I just forget to drink. I am slowly getting over my food addiction, since having my tonsils out, food tastes different and not in a good way :crazy2: That is how I have been able to maintain the weight I'm at even though I have not been trying to diet.

Well, off to my first appt of the day. Good day to you all!

Good morning Everyone

Michelle, Don't be too hard on yourself. It takes time to get a routine together and your husband has only been gone a short time. By the end of next week you will feel more pulled together.

I got in my 4 16 ounce bottles of water. This morning I walked for 30 minutes and did 20 min yoga routine.

WE start midterms today but first we need to go through 18 minute classes to fill up the day. My geometry kids have no idea what they are doing and I really don't want to grade their tests. At least they have their exmas today and tomorrow and by Friday night my torture of grading their papers will be done.

Hope everyone gets a chance to move and drink their water. Have a great day.

Happy Thursday!

I made myself rest yesterday, no working out at all. I got some great advice on the WISH running/walking thread for this week, and now I have a plan of how to "build my base", and I know what it means to get my steps in -- that means doing the walk/running you need to have your body used to a certain amount of exercise.

So, today I will be getting my steps in! I'm due for 30 minutes on the TM when I get home.

Im still working on eating less. I've gotten much better at night, and I haven't taken any food to our bedroom. I am eating a bit less often, but I still need to scale the points down. This is my last week for You snack mix. Next week I'm moving on to 2 pt. Kashi bars!

B: cream of wheat w/blueberries, orange drink
S: You snack mix
L: LC meal
S: carrots, celery
D: pasta w/ chicken & sauce, WW dessert

Donna -- You are doing great with getting your workouts in! Don't let the midterms stress you too much. We just got ds's report card and standardized tests from the beginning of the year. He didn't score as well on the standardized tests as he usually does. I'm wondering if it's because last year his teacher left in April, and they had anarchy for about 2 months. I don't think he probably learned everything he should have from 2nd Grade, or that could just be wishful thinking...anyway, I know you are doing the best you can for your students, and I'm sure they do as well. :teacher:

Michelle -- You have so much going on, I don't know how you focus on anything. Cut yourself some slack, you will get things in a routine you like. :grouphug:

My tip for today: Remember the yucky foods your Mom made you eat for breakfast? Turns out they are low in fat, and taste much better as an adult. Give cream of wheat and oatmeal a try, you will feel full longer! :goodvibes

Maria

Hey losers! :goodvibes I worked out with the trainer last night and thought I was pretty hot stuff until I tried to go downstairs this morning and my legs were like spaghetti! :lmao: Yikes! Tonight is session 2! :woohoo: I just keep remember this is a gooooood sore!

Michelle, don't get discouraged when you find time to take inventory of what you have going on and what you need to do don't forget to make an appointment with yourself to take of yourself!!

Maria, girl you are on a roll, keep up the good work!!

Dona, good luck grading those exams! :headache: Looks like you are on a roll!! :yay:

Take time to hug yourself today and pat yourself on the back for a job well done!!

I was talking to a friend tonight about my weight loss from size 20 to 8!!

One of the most important changes I made was freeing myself from the power food had over me. And believe me this took a couple of months to conquer. It seems so silly but how many times do you give into that want when you know you don't need it??? :rolleyes1

Melissa, so true! You have certainly hit the center of the reason people struggle with weight loss. I know it was the reason, and still can be the reason, that I need to lose weight.

Keep up the inspiration to us all! It is so cool that you now are using a personal trainer. Absolutely wonderful!

Wendy

HI all!

Boy Dona, midterms. My DH has only finals since he is at a quarterly college and each session is only 10 weeks. They talk of going to semesters. He would love that. Said it would help with consolidating classes that seem to duplicate info. Good luck with grading.

Maria--I did dub some old recording of "Walt Disney World Inside Out" from the 1990's. They are fun, and are helping to pass the time on the mill. I edit the commercials, so I have 6 episodes, which 2 make about 45 minutes to walk. It's working! Now, Van Halen, hmmm....I remember them from when I was a teenager. Yes, definitely altered states!

Michelle, sending some pixie dust so that you can sneak in a moment for you!

Kathy, sounds like you are on a great road to recovery. TM's are our friends! :goodvibes

Elisabeth, It is great finding a role model! And Melissa is a great one! Good luck and keep up with the goals you have set for yourself!

And a great day to all the rest!

Great losses to all! Off to do the treadmill when I sign off! I think today is the start of hitting the musicals. I think Phantom of the Opera will be my first one!

Enjoy the beautiful day!

Wendy

Hey Wendy, good choice Phantom!! :woohoo: You make me blush! I truly believe that we can all conquer the hold food has on us. Eat to live not live to eat!! And that comes from a former food-a-holic!!

Enjoy that TM time!!

I have been terribly lazy today. My baby Karina as beautiful as she is can be a demon child. She is teething and has the beginnings of two little teeth poking through her bottom gum. She's not even four months old yet :confused3 So because of her discomfort, she kept me up most of the night. I didn't get up at 6:00 am to get Nachito up for school, the bus showed up and woke me up! He is staying home today, because I do not have the energy to get the whole crew ready to take him to school. Oh yeah and I missed my appt for my tonsil follow-up this morning. I'm slowly losing control :crazy2: I think the weekend will bring a much needed break from everything. I'll just stay home and clean and catch up on nothing :lmao: Tonight though I am taking a nice hot bath and relaxing by myself for a couple of minutes until Karina wakes up AGAIN.

I did get good news from my scale with the impeccable memory this morning, it said down .6 of a pound. Not much but at least it moved.

Dona good luck with your exams, I was just thinking about changing my major to elementary education.

Melissa, I love the burn after a good workout, reminds me of the Army. I hope you feel better before your next workout.

Maria, I like oatmeal and Cream of Wheat too. Problem is I'm allergic to Cream of Wheat and pay for eating it with a horrible headache. Your menu for the day looks great. Keep up the good work!!!! I don't know how you do it.

Okay this post is WAY to long. Have a great day.

Michelle, teething is a painful time for parents! Hope she is better soon and you get some rest! The Marines say "Pain is weakness leaving the body" I sure hope that's right cause I just finished session #2 and OWIEEEEEE!!!! It is a very therapuetic pain! ;)

I am so glad to see this thread moving again! Everybody keep up the good work!! We need all of the encouragement we can get!! :cheer2: :grouphug:

We are definitely on the move now!

I did my 30 minutes on the TM, and went about 2.5 miles. It felt pretty good. tomorrow I'll be back on the exercise bike. Still trying to wean myself onto less food. I'm writing what I intend to eat, and then trying to stay close to that. I haven't made it totally yet, but tomorrow could be the day!

Saturday could be dicey. My ds is having his birthday party, which means pizza and ice cream cake. Then there's the actual birthday on Monday, which means a dinner out w/ice cream. DS doesn't like cake, but he's a huge fan of ice cream. I can't believe my baby will be 9. There really is no hope of calling this baby fat anymore (especially since I lost it once ).

Anyway, I'm doing a run on Saturday morning while dh takes ds to swim class. Just me and the treadmill, plugging along. Today I had a date w/Bon Jovi, I think Saturday will be Duran Duran. Ah, reliving my long lost youth...

I'm going to have to get up early Monday to work out before work, since we have the birthday dinner. At least I can get to bed early Sunday.

Michelle -- trust me, I'm not doing that much. And what I do accomplish is mainly due to the fact that dh is very involved in everything, and ds is almost 9. If I had three babies 5 and under, all by myself, believe me, I would not be getting as much done as you do! Teething is the pits, and so young! She is an advanced young lady already. I predict great things for her with a wonderful role model for a mom!

Melissa -- all that therapeutic pain will be well worth it. I bet you are going to see definition in muscles you didn't even know you have! :goodvibes

Wendy -- your Disney tapes sound like a lot of fun. I need to have more to do while I'm on the TM. Wait, that doesn't sound right...:confused3 I'll be glad when it warms up and I can get outside. At least I know then the scenery will change.

Donna -- How was the start of midterms? I'm glad my testing days are over! :rotfl: I hope you are able to take some time for you, even with your busy days.

Kathy -- How are your steps coming? I am so excited I know what that means now! I'm in the flush of loving a new activity. I love it when I'm bubbling over with excitement. I just see how much room there is for improvement, and figure I will definitely get better, how could I not?! :)

I'm looking forward to an active weekend!
Maria

Good Friday Morning Everyone

Well the weekend is almost here. I hope everyone has plans that they want to do this weekend. I don't have anything planned for Sat but on Sunday I meet with a group of ladies to work on costumes for ds's school play. He is only a crew member but I have been working with costumes since ds1 was at the school (he was a chorus boy for 3 years). We don't have a lot of costumes this year. We are doing Pirates of Penzance and there are only about 70 costumes (One year we were at over 300 when we stopped counting. My son the chorus boy had 7 costume changes) Since there is a professional costume guy (yes this school is known for its productions and raises lots of money due to ticket sales almost 6 sold out performances and last year there was benefit that sold tickets at $75 a seat for a special performance) We have to do the finishing touches since he is now working on getting the set together.

Today I am going out to lunch with the department. We are going to an italian place where I should be able to get a salad. The only bad thing is some of the newer guys alwasy drink and then it gets added on to the final bill and we always spilt it evenly. Lunch usually is costing more that it used to when the retired people from the department went. They never drank and all the meals were about the same price. Oh well. I will be careful about what I have and I can always skip dinner tonight which is probalbly pizza.

Maria Have a great birthday party with your son. Mine are 21 (22 in APril) and 16 (17 in JUne) They do grow up so fast.

Michelle Good luck with the teethin. It is a hard thing to go through especially by yourself. You can do it. You are stronger than you think.

Mellissa How did your session with the trainer go.

Wendy I'm glad that you mentioned your treadmill, I have to get mine fixed and I should call tonight when I get home. I usually watch the news or comedy shows on the little tv that I have in my basement. If I am going to use the dvd player I need a set of headphones with a long cable. I have the 1st season of Bob Newhart, the 1st and 2nd season of taxi and a couple of seasons of Mash that I could watch while I am working out. It does make the time go faster.

Kathy Thanks for the encouragement. One of these days I will get to the DW marathon but other things right now are more important.Maybe when ds1 gets out of college and ds2 gets in (hopefully on some money since his grades are good. Now lets hope the SATs this spring will be as good as the grades)

Have a great weekend everyone. I wil probably checkin tomorrow.

Morning!!! OK now I hurt ALL over!! :lmao: We worked upper body! And I only thought my thighs and butt hurt yesterday - today they are screaming!! But I am focused on the goal and the pain is minimal when put in perspective!! Sounds good doesn't it??? :rotfl2: The trainer has me drinking a gall and a half of water everyday! Can you guess what else I am doing all day????

Dona, I am so proud of the momentum you have!! WTH! I have grown young-ens too 23 and 19 1/2 (she likes the 1/2). It happens all to fast! :sad1: Good luck with lunch!

Maria enjoy your birthday weekend. When mine got out of high school their birthdays started making me feel old!! :rotfl: Enjoy those carefree days!! :wizard:

Wendy, Michelle, Kathy have a great day!!!

You are all so inspiring!! Keep up the good work!!

Hi,

I'm almost ashamed to check in. It's not even lunch yet, and I already ate my normal breakfast and snack, plus 100 cal Pringles and fudge stripes. Eeeek!

I gotta hold it together this afternoon!

Maria

Thank you all for your support!!! It helps when someone is there to "complain" to. I just got a call today from my friend, the one freind I had the last time DH was gone. She is in Ohio now and I miss her terribly:sad1: She works for the IRS now and called to tell me all kinds of new things to do on my taxes, so helpful! We talked for over an hour while she was at work. It was nice to have some adult conversation for awhile.

Maria, I know you can "hold it together" and it'll all be okay.

Melissa, here is somehting we used to say in basic training, "we like, we love it, we want more of it, make it hurt Drill Sergeant, make it hurt!" Just think of 30 or so "kids" in formation yelling this at the DS and it'll make you laugh. Enjoy the weakness leaving your body because you'll be nice and strong and lean and beutiful!

Dona, I hate people that order alcohol on your dollar. My BIL did that at Leila's bday dinner at Rainforrest Cafe. He ordered $16 worth of adult beverages, that was more then my whole meal:sad2: We paid for the whole meal, so I thought it was in bad taste.

Have a good weekend all of you. I think I might try to go and look at buying a new custom built house. Dh said I could have one if we stay at Ft. Bliss after he comes home from Korea. I don't want to stay but he is a Momma's boy and won't leave the El Paso area because she lives here. But don't tell him that:lmao:

Good Saturday Morning Everyone

Well lunch wasn't so bad yesterday. The real drinker wasn't there and the other guy was drinking soda when I got there. I did have a salad but I also ate the pizza. The crust was super thin and we did order a veggie one that was very good. I did have three slices but I didn't eat dinner last night since lunch was so late.

I didn't work out yesterday morning but this morning I got up made my ds some pancakes and then rode my exercise bike for 40 minutes. I just had a small yogurt, a Kashi TLC bar(4 gm of fiber for the two bars) and a cup of tea. I am planning on doing some cleaning and then some knitting. MY ds and dh are planning on going to a movie they both have been wanting to see for a month now but it is not playing by us. My ds is studying for his English exam right now. He thinks he aced his history exam yesterday and his grade for history for the 2nd marking period is a 95 so he is pretty happy. The guy he has for history is pretty hard from what we have been told.

I hope everyone else is having a great and quiet Sat morning. Get some exercise in and think about your eating. Treat yourself to something nice (I had a nice hot bubblebath last night and finished a book I had been reading this week) since you have all worked so hard this week.
