Anyone here stay in the 1400 loop since it became premium? How did you like it? That is the loop we have requested for our November trip. We stayed in that loop twice before the switch and I really like it there. We have stayed on Big Bear on the first part of the loop. Only premium loop we have stayed in is 400.

We've stayed on Big Bear several times around toward the campfire area. Made it easy to get to for the kids. Haven't been there sine premium popped in or since the viney foliage was removed, but I think I would like it.

That is what I was wondering about. How it may have changed since the upgrade. I thought the 1400 loop was a nice spot.

The only change you will notice is that the tent pads are now paved.

As a result, some of the concrete pads from Little Bear almost touch the concrete pads from Big Bear.

And, some of the concrete pads on outer sites on Big Bear now almost drop right off into the canal. Like this:

And, like all the other loops, all of the brush and vines and such between the sites has been cleared out, so everything in much more open.

Thanks TCD! :thumbsup2

Looks like they are about to fall in the canal.

Is the 800 loop close to the canal like 1400?

No, not at all.

There is a ton of space between the 800 loop sites and the canal.

But, part of that space is the pet walk.

Also, on the 900 loop, there is a lot of space behind the sites- although the canal is more like a ditch there.

Thanks!

What premium loop would you say is the best?

When I stay on a premium loop, my personal preference is the 900 loop.

But, this is very subjective. My reasons for preferring 900 may not square with yours.

When my DD's were younger, we always tried to camp in the 1400 loop. We loved being close to the campfire and pool. Now, I like being a little further away.

Thanks.

1400 loop was the first loop we ever stayed in when we came to the Fort. So the next year I requested it again. First year we were on the first part on the inside and second year we were on the first part almost to the turn by the canal. I liked all the different birds that came to visit while we were hanging out. Our last trip to the Fort we had requested 1400 loop but we ended up coming a day earlier because we were trying to avoid bad weather at home and we ended up staying 400 loop and that was really fine too.

I guess 1400 loop just holds a special place in my heart because it was our first place at the Fort. Silly I know.

I think the only thing I really care about is not being next to a CS and being on the canal.

Stayed in 1459 last Oct. and loved it. Little Bear. Liked being within walking distance of the campfire and pool. Were close to the bus stop also.

We stayed in 1402 last year and really enjoyed it. Very close to the campfire and pool.

This year we were in 912 and like it even better. We were still close to the pool.

Seems like 900 loop had more spacious sites overall, but I really love both loops. :thumbsup2

Thanks guys!

Are the sites in the 900 loop more spread out from each other or just deeper?

For the most part, yes, there is more room between the sites on 900 than on 1400. Of course, as in all loops, there are some sites that are very close together, and the last outside site literally abuts the Comfort Station. I mean you could probably reach over and buy ice from the ice machine while you are sitting at your site. That's how close we're talking.

Also, there is a footbridge from the group camping area that leads to a path between two outside sites on 900. If you camp next to that path, and there is a big group in the group camping area, you will have special free entertainment during your trip (i.e. a non-stop parade of campers coming and going from group camping).

No loop is perfect.

I guess we are the same, our 1st trip to the fort with the family we stayed in loop 1400.
Loved it. then with the upgrades, still loved it. we have been lucky with the sites, plenty of room and close to everything, it's a hit or miss. We have requested loop 1400 again for Christmas this year.

Now that is close!

Thanks for the descriptions.

We really like 1400. Hopefully that is where we will end up.

We are going to be there in Dec. and I was thinking of this loop, thanks for asking about it, as it has answered a lot the questions I had... Can not wait until we are there....

I am glad it was helpful for you! :thumbsup2 I can't wait until we are there either. Have a great time!

This will be our FIRST time at the Fort end of Oct/beg of Nov 2010 and we requested loop 1400 based on reading here, wanting to be near pool, campfire, Meadows, etc.

We have another trailer of family coming with us and we requested to be next to each other.

Wondering which sites we should request though?

My advise is to do the following: verify that you and the other party have the same level of site (either premium, prefered, full hook-up, partial hook-up), once you've confirmed that, one of you call central reservations with both reservation numbers and ask them to link the two reservations together, then have both reservations noted with a loop number preference and if you want to be situated near a comfort station, a bus stop, or both. While there is nothing that says you can't request a specific site, you're better off with a more generalized request. You also need to be aware that even though you and the other party have your ressies linked, there is no guarantee you will be next door to each other. You may end up across the street, a few sites away, or even on the opposite sides of the same loop.

No matter where you end up, you're going to have a ball. The Fort is a great place to vacation!!
