What a great report...and photos too! What an experience travelling from so far away to be in the middle of a hurricane! Happy to hear you still had a wonderful vacation.

Where in Italy are you from? My DH and I were in Italy last August...during the awful heat. My husband is from Italy (Ivrea). We visited family in Ivrea, Cinque Terre, Borgo D'ale and Aosta. I have to say that Venezia was my favorite!
