Hi!
My family (dh, dd turning 13 and I) will be traveling to WDW soon, and I was wondering if it's worth it to try Universal this trip. My dd does NOT like thrill rides--she won't try BTMR or Splash Mountain, and she cried through Goofy's Barnstormer when she was 8 (she says she's going to try that this trip, but I'm not holding my breath). We have a great time at WDW because there's so much more to do than ride roller coasters, but I wasn't sure about Universal.

Opinions?

Thanks!

Can she do simulators or rides that spin? The only rides with actual drops at US are Revenge of the Mummy and Rip, Ride Rocket. Simpsons ride is a simulator, ET is a kiddie like ride, MIB is like Toy Story Mania(but better and with spins), Shrek, Jimmy Neutron and Terminator are just shows with moving seats. Jaws is just a boat ride with a chase and kill of Jaws.

Now, IOA will be harder for a ride chicken. I only did Spider Man(simulator) and Popeye's Bilge Rat Barges(river raft ride) there. Oh, and Poseidon's Fury, which is a walk through ride.

She REALLY should try BTMRR. I am a ride chicken(hate drops) and I LOVE that ride! When you ride in front, you barely feel the drops. Now, in back, it is a WILD ride, LOL.

Terminator, Shrek, Twister, Disaster, Jaws, Men In Black and ET are all rides with no drops. The Simpsons and Jimmy Neutron have simulated drops and Jimmy Neutron also has a front row that doesn't move at all so she can watch it with no motion then go back and try it with motion if she feels like she can handle it. If she likes Jimmy Neutron then I would take her to the Simpsons. That's a pretty full day with no drops.

Thanks so much--that's helpful information. I THINK she'd be okay with simulation rides (although those make me sick! Dh enjoys them...). What she doesn't like are rides that go fast--I think she feels really out of control and gets extremely scared. The drops, though, are a definite NO!

Again, thanks. We're still trying to figure out what we're planning to do on the non-Disney days, but this sounds like there might be plenty to enjoy at US.

hi when are you going. My girl is about the same age (12) and also does not like thrill rides, She has said that she is going to try some on this Xmas trip- we will see. If she does and we are back before you go, I will get her to add onto this thread what she thought of the ones that she tried, your girl can then read and see if she wants to give them a go.

We're going NYE and staying 'til 1/6. The last three days will be at WDW, but we were looking for something else to do on the 1st and 2nd...

Thanks! We learned a long time ago that, if we force the issue, it makes it worse. She does seem to take info from other kids, especially ones like her, so that offer is really helpful!

My DD is just turned 13 & will not even go on Woody Woodpecker or Pirates of the Carribean (becasue of the drop)

However she loves Spiderman, MiB, Simpsons, Shrek, Jaws etc - in fact she prefers USF to WDW :thumbsup2

sorry but that means that we will be there at the same time so won't be able to post info for your girl to read.

Well, Mackay j, I guess we'll just have to compare notes via DIS after our trips!! :goodvibes

Have a great time!
