This is interesting: To the contrary, on December 18, 2013, lawyer Christopher Dolan, writing on behalf of Ms. McMath’s mother, stated that Ms. McMath “has been left brain dead” and requested a “complete explanation as to exactly how Jahi has now come to be brain dead.” So even the lawyer accepts that she is brain dead??? Now I am really confused. I was under the impression that none of these people accepted the concept of brain dead. This is also interesting: Ms. McMath’s family was told that she had been determined to be brain dead on Thursday December 12, 2013. At that time, Ms. McMath’s family requested that Children’s allow them through that weekend for family members to gather. That leads me to believe that they did accept the brain death conclusion and just needed a little more time for all the family members to arrive. That seems perfectly acceptable. So what happened between those first few days after the 12th and now? It has been almost a month!! This mess is going to set a precedence in hospitals everywhere. When a patient is declared brain dead, the family will have exactly X amount of hours to say goodbye. If a loved one lives 1000 miles away, too bad for them. The hospital will now need to cover their *** thanks to this family.
