13 Year old gir declared brain dead has now officially died

Oh and because of this case and reading about the BS nurses deal with, I took donuts and coffee over to the nurses on the oncology ward at the local hospital. They are like family to me and were there through everything with my mom. More so then some of my "real" family was. They even got me a cake, card, and a cute little teddy bear for my graduation since mom was in the hospital for it (her last stay in fact).

Ok, so 4 hours ago the Uncle posted a photo of the Lawyer and himself to his Instagram, this is the post from the Uncle that accompanies the photo:

"I will be forever grateful for this man. He took my call in the middle of the night and listened to everything I had to say and decided to help me for FREE!!! There are not many lawyers in the world that would take a case where there is no money involved, but this man has a huge heart and I will always love him for what he has done for my family. I hear people questioning his ethics and it is ridiculous. This man did what no other lawyer would and I can't thank him enough. Christopher B. Dolan you are my brother & friend. Welcome to the family, but you were already family when agreed to help me that night."

Well, I wonder how Uncle "gettin' them dollars up" is going to feel when his brother takes most of their $250k chump change from a med-mal settlement? Do we think the lawyer will still be a part of the fam bam then??? :sad2:

I think the whole situation has turned in to a disgusting, macabre freak-show circus.

:sad2: Oh my goodness. At least 98% of the people who are posting their opinions on that site are completely delusional. Several have referenced Lazarus, a man who was a friend of Jesus. Lazarus died, was buried for 3 days and Jesus called him from outside the grave and Lazarus came back to life and walked out of the cave he was buried in. To my knowledge, there have been no other people raised from the dead after being in the grave for 3 days. There have been some people who "came back to life" that actually were never dead to start with, but had entered a comatose state in which their breathing was extremely shallow and the heart was very slowed down. But dead for nearly a month? Yeah. IMO, God can perform miracles, but in this case I believe that God has already allowed this girl to pass. In Christian terms, she has been healed completely and her soul is in heaven with God.

You'd think that if they were that faithful in miracles they would just bury the body! I mean... if God was going to bring her back, he wouldn't care if she's on a ventilator or not!

He says that he's doing it pro bono and will not take part in any malpractice suit. I think he's in it for the publicity for his practice. While most will see him as an absolute slimeball willing to say anything on behalf of his client, potential clients will see an absolute slimeball willing to say anything on behalf of themselves.

I heard that he's been using the publicity to advertise.

The uncle is still going to do his hustle, perhaps a book deal, talk show circuit, etc.

And I so totally agree with you of what a freak show circus this has become.

My question is: how can everyone in her family go along with this charade? I mean, are they enabling the mom so she won't have a breakdown(which I think she has all ready had) and just going along with oh yes she is alive, blah blah blah? The uncle, he is trying to get his hustle on, I am sure he is selling Team Jahi shirts, shady.

Hmm...I can think of ONE other, who rose on the third day. ;)

As my teenage DD said, "Jahi has lived her life and has received her reward- she's in Heaven with her Savior. She and Jesus are chillin' right now! Why would God send her back?"

At what point would authorities be able to step in? All states recognize brain death as death. She has a death certificate. Letting this family play Frankenstein on her body is gross.

Great article, although it completely annoys me when people say "routine tonsillectomy". It was far from it and I just commented on the post about it, the message after I hit submit said it might take a bit for it to be posted due the sensitive nature of the post.

I just stated it was NOT routine and I wished they would state what the actual procedures were according to the court documents.

"Ms. McMath was admitted to Children’s Hospital on December 9, 2013, for a complicated surgical procedure consisting of an adenotonsillectomy, uvulopalatopharyngoplasty, and submucous resection of bilateral inferior turbinates."

That is exactly what my husband had done. He was beyond miserable for weeks!!! They had a nurse with him pretty much one on one in recovery. I'm curious what happened in this case.

I had to come back and add that on top of all of that, he also had his deviated septum repaired. There was so much bleeding afterwards. I remember holding one of those bed pan things under his mouth for a while. On the way home we had to pull over and change his bandages. I can totally see where something could go seriously wrong, perhaps if there is a clotting disorder that was unknown??

*face palm* D'oh! How did I miss that! Lazarus AND Jesus rose from the dead on the third day, according to the bible.

This is interesting:

To the contrary, on December 18, 2013, lawyer Christopher Dolan, writing on behalf of Ms. McMath’s mother, stated that Ms. McMath “has been left brain dead” and requested a “complete explanation as to exactly how Jahi has now come to be brain dead.”

So even the lawyer accepts that she is brain dead??? Now I am really confused. I was under the impression that none of these people accepted the concept of brain dead.

This is also interesting:

Ms. McMath’s family was told that she had been determined to be brain dead on Thursday December 12, 2013. At that time, Ms. McMath’s family requested that Children’s allow them through that weekend for family members to gather.

That leads me to believe that they did accept the brain death conclusion and just needed a little more time for all the family members to arrive. That seems perfectly acceptable. So what happened between those first few days after the 12th and now? It has been almost a month!!

This mess is going to set a precedence in hospitals everywhere. When a patient is declared brain dead, the family will have exactly X amount of hours to say goodbye. If a loved one lives 1000 miles away, too bad for them. The hospital will now need to cover their *** thanks to this family.

Good points and good sleuthing! I'd love to know what the turning point was too.
