13 Days in Florida with a Shuttle Launch and 11 Days at Disney - Day 1 Part 1 up.

Well just as an FYI due to technical reasons it appears this trip report will stay live but will have to stay text based with the photos added once we get back home. Seems that using the sprint phone tethered to the computer as a modem is not the best way to get photos onto photobucket. I hope your willing to stick around for a while to get the pictures I'll try to make them worth it.

Day 2 was great we visited Kennedy Space Center and got a great tour. If you are coming down and are interested I would recommend contacting your congress person and see if they can provide you with complimentary tickets for your family. We then went to Cocoa Beach and Patrick got to experience the ocean for the first time. We ended the evening with Dinner at the Cocoa Beach Pier and some raw oysters.

We did pick up a card reader so that solved the picture issues on this end but once again the Blackbrerry was not wanting to cooperate in uploading them so if you stick around I promise I will load them after we return.

Patrick is now asleep wearing his Tigger hat anxiously awaiting going to Disney tomorrow.

Thanks for reading.
Travis

Too bad about the cable but being the loyal fans we are, we don't care! We are glad you are having a great trip so far and are reporting live :cool1:

Wow got a little behind on this due to the excitement of Disney :yay: and my phone not wanting to play modem like I think it should. :scared1:

Day 1 went very well we originally had plans to go to the WCC for lunch but decided to skip it and went to Magic Kingdom most of the rides we rode were walk on or very short waits which was excellent. Patrick entered a joke into the Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor which was used. This makes him 2/2 since in 2007 he got a joke picked as well. Dinner was at Chef Mickey's which was very good. We have food pictures but will wait to upload them until we get home.

Day 2 was where I, (PDMEDIC) through a wrench into Dani's plans and we went to Disney Hollywood Studios in the morning. We grabbed a fastpass for Toy Story Mania which we all loved then rode star tours and the backlot tour. Patrick got several autographs and it was an enjoyable morning and afternoon. We then headed over to Epcot for a wonderful dinner at Chefs De France featuring a visit from Remy the Rat!!!! :yay: We then wandered through World Showcase and tried to do a Kim Possible Mission but the villains had somehow hacked the system and Wade hadn't gotten them out yet. We then wandered through the rain and went back to the hotel. Many pictures were taken and will be provided later.

Day 3 -Today once again a change was made to the schedule and we went to Animal Kingdom after sleeping in a bit to recharge the batteries. Had a wonderful meal at Flame Tree Bar-B-Que with a view of Everest. We then saw the Birds in Flight show which was wonderful and I got to be part of the show. We then rode the Kali River Rapids which had a 40 minute wait. We had gotten a GAC card for Patrick and used this to help from having a major breakdown. No fastpasses were available when we got there. We went to Expedition Everest which is one of Patrick's favorite rides from the last trip and he didn't want to ride this time. Dani and I used the single rider line which provided a less then 5 minute wait. We then saw Finding Nemo the musical which was excellent and a lot more photos were taken.

We went Boma for dinner which was enjoyed by everyone then over to Downtown Disney for some Pin Trading.

Did I mention Pin trading we bought 240 Pins to last 3 people 11 days 10 nights. We have gone through all of them by day 3. Of course we didn't quite bring all of them but still. Next time we will bring more pins.

I'll try to keep up more but this should count as a quick update with a full trip report planned upon our return including dining reviews with food porn.

Thanks for staying with us despite these technical difficulties.

Travis, Dani and Patrick

Well we are back the live report didn't go as planned for several reasons. Sorry. I will start working on making this a regular trip report.

Looking forward to sharing our trip with you.

Now unpacking.

Ok here goes, now that we have returned and I have full internet access again as opposed to trying to use my cell phone which didn't work as expected we will give this trip review what it deserves. Mainly pictures and more descriptions.

Anyway we left for Florida on August 28th leaving Kansas City at some ungodly hour in the morning here is Patrick at the airport.

We managed to fit everything we needed for 13 days into 1 checked bag and everyone carried a carry on and a personal item. Here are our bags minus the checked bag which weighed in just under 50 pounds.

And our AirTran plane to take us from Kansas City to sunny Orlando.

We had a nice flight Dani stated she wanted the window and Patrick and I decided to give it up without much fighting and then she chose to read the entire flight.

When we arrived we rode on the first monorail of several and a picture had to be taken to document this momentous occasion.

We then retrieved our luggage and proceeded to the Budget rental counter to obtain our transportation for the first couple of days. I had the brilliant idea of using the Sprint Navigation program built into the cell phone instead of taking a GPS and this worked once I decided to trust it. I'm sure Dani will chime in more here.

We checked into our hotel in Cocoa Florida without difficulty and for the price we payed through priceline it was okay but it wasn't anything to write home about. We were supposed to have an internet connection but according to the desk the only way to get internet was to go to the lobby of the hotel next door. :scared1:

We then checked the news and found out their was a scheduled shuttle launch for that night. Now this is one of those opportunities we just couldn't pass up and decided we wanted to take the opportunity to view this rare night launch of the shuttle.

We drove around a bit and got lunch at a Mexican / Cuban restaurant which was very good. I had photos somewhere but can't find them at the moment.

We then got a nap and set out to find a spot to watch the shuttle launch.

Hurray - you'er back! Thanks for posting live (even if it didn't totally work out, we appreciated your effort!)

Can't wait to read all about the trip :surfweb: When we were down in FL in 1994, we saw the space shuttle launch from our hotel room in Kissimmee. I was so glad my late husband got to see that - I was standing out on the balcony drinking morning coffee and saw something in the sky & remembered from the news that it was launch day. This was one of the many things we experienced on our cross-country trip from Oregon to FL. (My husb never got to visit WDW, he had a heart attack in the hotel room & passed away but he fulfilled his dream of traveling across country seeing Vegas, Grand Canyon, etc. so we cherish those memories).

Love the pic of Dani reading in the airplane - window seat but not window watching ;)
