13.1 Before I Hit 40 - Running my 1st 1/2 Marathon at Disney uptd 09/30

I'm voting for #3. I like the idea of Giselle and I think you would look adorable and who cares if people don't know who you are...you will and you look cute.

#2 is obviously another good choice, especially if you did use a white skirt and make it a cooler version of Mary.

My hair is defintely looking pretty Giselle like these days. It's almost exactly that color and nearly as long, and according to my niece having the right hair is very important. :lmao: I just love Giselle though!

I'll try to get a picture of the dress posted up of the possible Mary dress.

I'm feeling really torn about making a decision. I have costume issues obviously, because I'm not worried at all about what I'm going to wear at any other time on my vacation. :rotfl:

Well...if you have the hair then you HAVE to be Giselle!! It's like a rule. ;)

According to my niece it's the most important rule. :) The last trip to Disney she was nearly refusing to wear the Jasmine costume my mom had bought her because she no longer had the proper hair. :rotfl: She also had told be once when my hair was shorter that I couldn't dress as Belle because my hair was too short, forget about the red color.

:lmao::lmao::lmao:

These days I might pass for Shaggy from Scooby Doo then. Gosh I need a cut!

I'm in pretty desperate need for a cut myself. Part of the reason why I'm keeping it long is so I can hide when I need a haircut. Short hair requires so much more upkeep! I can hide anything with a barrette and a ponytail.

Here is the dress I saw that I thought I could convert to a Mary Poppins dress.

I know it's pretty different, especially with the halter top, but it still feels Mary Poppinsish to me. Attach some red ribbons on the skirt, a red sash around the waist, some white lace gloves and the hat it would be good to go. I'd definitely be cool.

It is absolutely perfect!! Perfect, I tell you!!! THe halter will make it realy nice and cool to wear too! :thumbsup2

That is a very good Mary Poppins dress. But I'm still partial to Giselle. I think she is a under represented character!

I had been looking around for a longer sleeved, higher necked dress when I saw that one and something about it felt right to me. I didn't realize how hard it would be to find dresses with longer sleeves these days.

Equality to all characters! :) I actually saw on the IMDB that there are rumors about a sequel to Enchanted. :)

This is going to be a quick post today. After feeling better for a week or so, the blues started hitting hard last week and last night I spent a good portion of my night getting weepy over just about every little thing. :sad2: I had been doing better with my training, but this weekend I got nothing done. I just felt physically incapable of doing little else but sleeping and sitting curled up on the sofa.

Since I missed my long run over the weekend I need to do it when I get home today. I'm already not feeling any energy as I was plagued with insomnia last night, but I'm going to force myself to go out. The good thing is that the little interval timer I bought, the Gymboss, works great. It was really easy to program and I love that you can set it to vibrate instead of beeping.

I did go out to the fabric store this weekend. I picked up the pattern I saw for the Giselle costume, so I'd have it, but I ran into another problem with the Giselle idea and I think I'm going to have to take it off the list as a possiblity. The reason? I couldn't find any fabric that was remotely like the fabric in the movie, and really for the costume to work it's going to need some kind of aqua floral fabric. I was a bit amazed that there wasn't any kind of aqua floral fabric at Joann's. I did some searching online, but anything I found that might work was way too expensive for a costume.

At this point I'm leaning towards the Mary Poppins costume. I love the Redhead idea, but the crazy heat we've been having up here in CT this past week is making me take a long hard look at those long sleeves. I can't even imagine having to put on something like that in this heat, let alone walk around an amusement park in one.

Oh no, Crissy! I'm so sorry you're feeling down again! I wish I could come right over, and give you a great big huge hug!! A run always feels great, but getting out the door is so stinkin' hard! I know!!

So Giselle is out. You're right though, the fabric has to be right to pull it off. I think Mary Poppins will be a really great choice- and so easy too!

Thanks. Lately it just feels like I'm always teetering on the edge, never knowing what is going to set me off. Last night it was getting a low balance notice from my bank about my account. After that I was a mess for the rest of the night crying over everything from something that broke at my place, to some beautiful pictures a good friend had posted on Facebook of her two kids.

My problem with running is, I think, tied to the blues. I just haven't been enjoying running the same way I was last year. Last year I'd feel so invigorated getting out there, but this year it's more akin to torture. Then again I'm not really enjoying a whole heck of alot lately.

My nieces liked the Mary Poppins idea. They gave me the thumbs up. My older niece though thought I look just like Harper on the Disney show Wizards of Waverly Place. I told her I didn't think that was really the best idea for a Halloween costume. :) There is one I don't think anyone would get.

I hate to harp on it, but if you haven't looked into it, I highly recommend therapy.

Some days, that's all that's keeping me hanging on. I don't talk about my mom a lot in "real life" so having a therapist who can help me work through that and other issues has been really instrumental in the healing process.

And let me tell you, I still have days that just suck. And I know what I have to be grateful for, and I'm happy to be alive, but sometimes, I just want to throw in the towel.

I think you'll look wonderful in the MP costume. It'll be a nice, cooler alternative. Trust me, after traipsing around in the Elizabeth dress, it was so much nicer to be a wench this past year, a lot more breathable. :thumbsup2

I'm sorry you are feeling blue.

I think you will make a beautiful Mary Poppins, maybe you pulling off your costume will finally convince me to try it myself. :thumbsup2

I have been looking into it. It actually came up when I was meeting with a few friends of mine that I knit with a couple of weeks ago. One of my friends gave me a referral. Now I just need to find the time and some extra cash to go.

My job has been a big part of my problem on both of those fronts. I love working in NYC, but I'm begining to get weary of the fact that I have no life because of the commute, and I'm begining to be honest with myself that I don't really get paid enough to afford working there. At least not while I have to pay all of my bills by myself.

I need to make changes and am trying to find out what I need to do. I just know I can't continue on this way.

I'm thinking it will work out okay. After watching Mary Poppins last week I was more excited about the choice. I had forgotten how much I love that movie.

Thanks LL! I'm just trying to take it day by day the best I can.

I think you'd make a great Mary!

Good. I am glad for you. If you ever need to talk, you know where to find me. :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:

I'm thinking you'll look fantastic! :thumbsup2

Chrissy, I am sorry that you are feeling down again! Having to face that one needs to change one's life is a hard thing. You know I agree with TK on professional help and I hope you will be able to find the funding!

Thank you. I've been having far too many triggers lately, but I know that it all really stems from one thing. It's not something that I feel comfortable discussing even with people I've known for years, and really the friend I'm taking this Disney trip (as well as the one last Dec.) is the only one I've ever really been up front about the issue with.

The professional help is a must. The more this goes on, the more I realize how much it's necessary.

I saw the title of your TR and am so inspired. I am turning 37 this week and this is my goal before I turn 40. Your story (nonathletic, never run before in your life) rang so true with me I want to follow along and cheer for you the rest of the way! I am mid Couch to 5k right now with my first 5k planned for November.

As for a costume, I vote for Mary Poppins!
