$125 for new Princess Character Breakfast

yea im glad DD was never really into the princess thing.$125 is not worth it to us when could probably do 2 character dinner/breakfast for less. Napa rose is also not somewhere I would take DD. I do get that its a character breakfast, but it sounds very formal.

But im sure it well sell since people are always looking for experiences that are a bit more exclusive. Just hope its not like the previous princess character meal. Need went but heard many bad reviews about how the princess never really stopped at tables.

I will say Ariel's Grotto was the only meal I ever felt rushed and kind of out of place. DH and I do not have kids, and the princesses really seemed to be in a hurry. In fact, all except one just stopped long enough to snap one pic with either DH or me - Tiana was the only one who stayed so each of us could have a pic with her. They were all very nice, but it was still odd to us, as we never had that experience with any other character meal. Even if it was still an option, it was a one and done for us.

Sounds like a more formal experience. If it comes with parking, that is actually pretty good, especially if it's at the Grand (where self-service parking as a non-hotel guest is pretty pricey!)

We stay onsite without a car and don't care one bit about the parking benefit. Disney needs to do a better job of serving their entire customer base at DLR.

My BFF and I were just talking about the menu..it doesn't sound like breakfast, or even brunch...
The menu is just so weird, especially at this price point. It sounds like remade leftovers from NR's menu the night before with a fruit pastry thrown in on the side for garnish. This way they just have to reheat things from their dinner service and get the pastries from Storytellers. Which makes NO sense at this price point... Like the mac'n'cheese -- NR makes very tasty mac'n'cheese -- same with the short ribs -- but they're not what I'd want at 8 am. Something very strange is going on here.

Yea i do not think it was the not having kids but more that thats just how that breakfast ran. Most of the reviews i would read people would say they felt rushed and that the princesses did not stop at the tables for long. Every year we would go DD decided against it.

So, I said on page 1 that I’d go with my daughter.

I hadn’t checked the menu yet.

That’s not... breakfast?..
Well... it might be if you were hungover and feeling very spendy. Again, this menu just makes no sense for the context. It doesn't seem to say "breakfast" or "princess." In 3 pages of posts, no one has said this menu appeals to them. What was Disney trying to base this on? Bizarre...

It really is an exceptionally strange menu. I mean, we really would do this - I only have one kiddo, so splurging for the two of us isn’t too crazy; I was thinking of doing this on a day that we’re seeing a 2:00 ballet at Segerstrom and making a whole “fancy day” of it. Goodness knows I love a fancy brunch, I love Napa Rose, and my daughter is picky in general but loves everything breakfast, so this should be right up our alley. But then that food isn’t anything I want to eat even at 11am! Where’s the posh versions of Eggs Benedict and stuffed French Toast?

This gets a no from me:
  • The price tag is way too high, and we are only a family of three. This would be $450 with a 20% tip.
  • The menu looks odd for breakfast. However, I can't pass judgment before seeing a full menu. For $125, I expect a plated dinner with lobster tail and filet mignon.
  • We don't need or want trinkets (dolls, jewelry, toys) for DD to take home. This is a reason I couldn't justify the Royal Court Tea on DCL.
  • Would be a big rush to get into DLR, do BBB, and get to this meal to be "done up" for the event. Obviously, this is not a must, but if you want to pair BBB with a princess meal, this is what you'd have to do. And then I'd feel like we are wasting park time.
  • Meeting princesses at Fairytale Hall is easy. And with the $199 BBB package, they walk you over to meet the princess and you get photos. That seems like a bargain next to the Napa Rose meal experience.
I did see this coming, though. I assumed they were planning to put an upscale princess meal experience in the new hotel, and that got thwarted when the new hotel project was put on hold. I was predicting a dinner with an afternoon tea option like at GF. So, this is similar, I suppose!

This is being billed as a premium event. It is catering to a specific customer base, just like Plaza Inn caters to certain customer base, and Paradise Grill caters to another. I will say I liked it better when Goofy's and Plaza Inn had a couple princesses in the mix. With Ariel's closing, I had hoped that would return. BUT, there are multiple places to see the princesses without dining, so there is also that option.

It would have been great to see a Princess Tea at Napa instead, but I think the timing so close to dinner would have been an issue. Steakhouse has the advantage of the restaurant being behind walls and can start things, and Napa is open.

The thing that bugs me the most about it is not that they have this pricey experience, but that it's ALL they have if you want a princess meal. I hate this trend toward elite experiences at the cost of everyday fun for families of more modest means. For Pete's sake, throw families a bone here (don't quite mean that literally). Princess happy meal at the Corn Dog Castle, served by a princess. Beignets and Tiana :). I'm joking, but seriously, it's a shame IMO to only cater to those with $$$$.

Are they going to have every possible princess available? The only way I could even justify doing this meal would be if they have 10 princesses or at least princesses you never get to meet in the parks.

My sister and I are doing a first trip to DL in August. I have taken her to most of the character meals at WDW, including CRT at MK. We had just discussed this weekend that we should plan at least one character meal during our trip, but I think we will skip this one unless something comes out later that makes it a must try. At the price, we could probably have a better meal elsewhere plus still do a smaller character meal.

Based on the current cost of CRT, which appears to be a similar experience, this price makes no sense at all. We will be there in may will NOT be paying $125 a person.

I have no problem with them offering a premium experience. I do have a problem with them taking away the non premium experience (Ariel's Grotto) and replacing it with only this. That's what people are upset about.

It almost seems to me that they made a mistake announcing it as breakfast and really it's a dinner!

Yes I agree. I have no issue whatsoever with expensive things that either arent of value for me or are just too rich for my blood, but it is a shame that there isnt a better value option that isnt so fancy.
It's not just the price (although to put the price in context I could go to universal for the whole day)
It's the location, the timing, the menu.
I too think there should be a cheaper experience as well.

The only way I could even justify doing this meal would be if they have 10 princesses or at least princesses you never get to meet in the parks.

My worry is that they will take someone out and make them exclusive.
It surprised me when Elsa was so huge that people were waiting 5 hours for her that they didnt put her at Ariels.
