12/29/2010 5 night New Years "Dream" of the Magic

Good Day everyone!

My Dh and I had a fun weekend getting some of the things ready for the trip. :thumbsup2Because it is a surprise, we did one thing every night after the kids were in bed.;)

*DH booked airfare... using DH's frequent flier miles.:thumbsup2 Thank goodness he travels so much.lol. This saves us a huge amount of money. We are doing a red eye on Dec 16th, arriving in orlando at about 10 am. We also booked our return flight for Jan 3 mid day.

*I purchased tickets to:banana: MVMCP on our arrival day.

*Booked hotel room... thanks to DH's hotel points. :thumbsup2 For the night before the cruise.

DH was also looking at doing a minivan rental but they want $250 each way:scared1:. So, we are now looking to see if there is another option.

Good Luck - you might try one of the Towncar/Limo services, we have used them in the past, the towncars are really small for a family - no truck space for luggage:lmao:. You might also check Disney transportation, but it might be cheaper to rent the minivan!

Does anyone know the possible dining rotations? I think it might be
Rest 1
Rest 2 (? pirate)
Rest 2 (NYE-? formal)
Rest 3 (sea- ? formal?)
Rest 3

I am trying to figure out when would be best for Palo dinner. Thanks for any thoughts....

We're also going to WDW before the cruise, staying at BCV, and we decided to rent a limo, cost under $200 (it will be probably $220 with tip) to pick us up and bring us to Port Canaveral. Then we're going to the airport the day we disembark, but not until the evening, so I rented a car for $25 (Yes, that's right, including fees and taxes) from Port Canaveral to MCO. This will give us the freedom to tour around and do some last minute sightseeing and shopping for a few hours before we have to go to the airport. We're a family of 4, comes out cheaper than Disney transportation (and so much more flexible!)

I think we're going to rent a car from our Disney hotel to port. I called several car services but none of them would pick us up before 10:30 and I'd like to get to port early, so we'll just drive ourselves.

That's strange - the limo service I hired is picking us up at 9:30am, they were okay with even picking us up at 9:15 or 9:45am, so I split the difference.

Not sure if I'm allowed to post the limo service name - does anyone know? If I can't, you can PM me and I'll tell you who it was...

Sarabi - too bad we can't share a limo, it's an 8 passenger - unless we book a bigger one, it must be more cost effective to get one bigger one than 2smaller ones...where are you staying?

Jen that is a great deal on a car!:thumbsup2 I guess this is my punishment for a big family...lol

We are actually doing a back to back cruises: 11 night Christmas with the 5 night New Years Cruise.

We can do round trip DCL transfer for $69 each. Which comes out to $414 . But we wanted to get to the port early and are hoping to upgrade our room. Plus we have reservation at the double tree (DTD) the night before the cruise which is not a DCL stop.

A mini van was $250 each way.:scared1: The plus to this would be... we have a car for MVMCP.

We have not called a car service yet... it is on DH's to-do-list. We did see one on line: to go from from MCO to Double tree & then to Port Canveral and back to MCO is about almost $500. But we could do it at our own pace.

Maybe we need to also look at renting 2 small cars? ;)

It's a full sized car, like a Taurus, you'd be able to fit 5 in there, plus the trunk is pretty big (unless you like to pack a lot) :cutie:

I had to check a bunch of places online until I hit this price - I was getting quoted $70-100 for a one way rental from Port Canaveral to MCO for one day. I was so shocked that I rebooked it again in case it was a computer glitch, but I was able to book it at exactly the same price.

If you call DCL, they might possible have the dining rotation posted on their schedule. It might still be just a little early though.

You could also go to another website and see if they have the 5 night navigators posted, that might be a clue, but not set in stone of course!

Just booked this morning.
We are interested in joining the fish exchange.

Thanks!

I don't think there have been any Magic 5 nights yet, but according to the Wonder 5 nt navigator, Pirate Night was Day 3 (Nassau) and Day 4 (at sea day) was the semi-formal night. I'm not sure if New Year's Eve being on Day 3 will throw a wrench in that or not.

Hi everyone~

Has anyone sailed over NYE prior? I am wondering how the seas are this time of the year?

Thanks!

Hi!!! I'm from Puerto Rico and just book my cruise. This will be my second, the other was last summer. Count me in on the FE. Is anyone making the list?? I can do it. My first language is Spanish so please excuse my mistakes ;)
Oh... my name is Karen and I will be sailing alone. Me time!!! My daughters will be in Chicago with their grandparents...

Welcome to all the new thread members!!!

I agree on the flight cost being high at that time of year - for us almost $150 more per ticket than other times. We are flying from Omaha NE to Orlando.

But we are super excited for the cruise - we have recruited some friends to come too - I will have her check in on this message board.

Maybe we should think about a doing a roll call - and is anyone interested in doing FEs?

Marci

I am!!

We did the NYE on the Wonder late year. We didn't have any problems with the seas.

In all of our sailing we have only had two times where the sea were rough...a Thankgiving cruises because there was a storm & the Transatlantic:eek: Those are the only two time we had to get out the sea sick medications.

Hi All,

Welcome to all the new cruisers. :wave2:

The FE list has been updated, see post #110.

Post or PM me with any changes or updates.

Thanks, Bob

I don't think there have been any Magic 5 nights yet,

The Magic had its first 5N back in September 2008. I'll look to see if we still have the Navigators, but no guarentee the events/nights would be the same.
