12/29/2010 5 night New Years "Dream" of the Magic

We have been debating if a trip to DisneyWorld is a good idea before the cruise. On one hand.... we have the time and are celebrating big time but on the other hand... do we really want to have our first DW trip be during the busiest time of year?? Lots to think about and figure out.

I love being able to look forward to this cruise! and I think looking ahead 5-6 months is just about right in the excitement time frame. Every few days one of the boys or the husband will ask me what shows are playing or if we know the room yet and I get lots of remember whens. Can't waait to see those fireworks!!!

If you have the choise, I would go to WDW after the cruise, Jan is a low season, the week before Christmas and between Christmas and New Years is crazy!

Have a great day all!

I wish that was possible! The kids have to be back for school bright and early Tuesday morning.

We're going to WDW for 2 days before the cruise. I know it will be insane, but I just can't see skipping it because we only make it down every 4 years or so. Wish we could do it after, but the kids are already going to miss the first day of school after break and their school is very strict about that.

I'm trying to find a good explanation of the FEs on the boards. I get that it's something you attach to your door and people leave little gifts, but how does it work exactly - like how do you know if it's a couple or family with small children or teens. Is this something that's set up ahead of time?

Bah - I haven't been getting email notifications of additions to this thread - anyhoo....

136 Days til our cruise - soooooo excited.

We booked GTY and have not been assigned rooms yet - super excited to see where we land!

Hope everyone has a good Saturday - hot and humid here in South Dakota

Some folks (like us) just do things for the room, regardless of adult or kids, but you can get an idea from the roster (if we get anyone to offer to do a roster for this cruise).

Have a great day all!

Hello everyone!

I think wrabitdad offered to compile the FE participant info for our group and I would love to help!

To get the ball rolling, how do you all feel about these draft guidelines?

  • Please deliver gifts on the day most convenient for you (not assigned days).
  • Please feel free to either leave a gift/gifts for the travel party to share or for each individual in that party- which ever you prefer.
  • Please PM your stateroom # and travel party info to wrabitdad and andeeNjoel. (For example, “andeeNjoel - Andee (DW) and Joel (DH) – GTY””)
  • We would like to have a final list by Dec. 12 so please let us know if you would like to join, would no longer like to participate, or have a stateroom change prior to Dec. 12. Wrabitdad or andeeNjoel will send out PMs with the detailed participant list info by Dec. 15.
  • If your information changes after Dec. 12, please leave andeeNjoel a note outside their stateroom or a voicemail- by 4:30pm if at all possible.
  • andeeNjoel will bring hard copies of the participant info, update them with any last minute room changes, and drop them by each stateroom early evening on the night we set sail.

Here is some information on the FE process that we put together for another cruise, hope it helps:

Remember the FE Exchange is supposed to be FUN. It should not become daunting.

Make it whatever you want. Some folks work from scratch and their talents really come through; others buy items that they think will bring a smile to the recipients. We have gotten gifts as simple as Disney pencils, candy bars, homemade magnets, postcards from hometowns/states, etc. Some are simply left in the FE, others are bagged (usually the small bags you would use for candy etc at kids parties) with ribbon, etc.

We generally do a gift per cabin, sometimes with small candy per person. Sometimes it depends on how far we're traveling to the ship (for west coast or overseas the FE gifts tend to be smaller for obvious reasons). On some cruises we've joined with others and done a group gift - lanyards and namebadges or wristbands. Each cruise is different, that’s what makes it fun.

Delivering the gifts is also a fun experience, also a great way to see the ship and all the cabin door decorations. Kinda feels like being an elf at Christmas. Some folks leave their gifts anonymously, others have their disname, others their first names; whatever you want. When you leave your gift is also up to you; we'll usually leave ours on a sea day. If your gift is themed, i.e. pirate, you may want to leave it on a certain day.

We’ve also volunteered to post the FE list on our cabin door so folks can make or check for any last minute cabin changes.

Remember FE = Fun.

If you want to participate in the FE PM me or post the information here. We'll need the following information:

Cabin # (if GTY let me know as soon as cabin assigned)
Disname
names and ages (age optional for those that don't want to divulge
:lmao:)

We'll settle on a cut-off as we get closer to the cruise. Usually a couple of weeks before the cruise. Most of us make a few extras to cover any last minute additions.

Thanks, Bob :wave2:

Good Morning Cruisers!

Bob and Andee - I sent you both PM's for the roster. Thank you both for your time and effort in this.

Have a great day all!

Just because I need to type this out somewhere and express some happiness and smile a bit.......

I got the final ok to go on the cruise!! YIPPEE!!! This truly is a celebration and has been a long time coming. Everyone has to have an extra super fantastic time on this cruise so I can be surrounded by happy people.

Deb - glad to hear that the cruise is now "official" for you!

Have a great day all!

Count us in for the FE's.

Linda (mom) and Jamie (DD-18). We are currently in a lifeboat suite (GTY). Will let you know when we get the room assignment.

Can't believe we are so close to booking our excursions. Well, not that I am going to book much of anything except Palo's for NYE dinner!

Have a great day all!

:yay:My family will also be joining you for the cruise! :yay:

We have actually booked both the 11 day Christmas Cruise & 5 day New Year Cruise! I am so excited I could burst. We did the New Year Cruise last year & loved it!

:ssst: At this moment our children do not know about the trip. We are still trying to figure out how we are going to tell them... that we are not going to Grandma and Papa's this year for Christmas... we are going on a cruise. My DD (10) is going to be very sad :sad1: or very mad. I am hoping that someday she will forgive us, for taking her on a cruise for the holidays. ;)

My Family is:
Me--Disneycruising

DD--17
DS--15

DD--11 (her birthday is a few days before the trip)
Cabins-- 2 cat 12 GTY

Nice to see some other kids about the same age as mine.

You will love the cruise.:thumbsup2 There is so much for everyone in the family to do. I love it because even mom get a vacation from everything; laundry, cleaning, cooking.
