12/24/08 Christmas Cruise on the Wonder

My suggestion would be to order room service and just keep one of their knives in the room.

That's what I thought I would do instead. Any advice on the cooler?

So this morning, we all woke DD up by singing Happy Birthday to her. I then gave her a box that had a ring inside that was given to me when I turned 16. Under some tissue paper, there was a sash I had made, pageant style, that said "Miss Sweet Sixteen". Big surprise she decided to wear it to school. I said I think there is something more so she looked under more tissue to find a set of keys to a car. She looked them over to make sure they weren't fake (it had a tag on it saying what the car was) and then came the high-pitched-I-just-saw-the-Jonas-Brothers squeal. Although she doesn't officially have her license, just the permit, I let her drive it to school and I drove it back. She hugged the steering wheel before she got out. Too funny!

I hope everyone's day is going well. I'm gonna get busy packing.... I can't believe its a little more than a week until we leave.

OK ... am I the only one that hasn't received their docs yet??? I fly out on Monday so I'm getting a little nervous now! I am packed though ... I'm sure with twice as much as I need but at least it's done .. apart from some small items here and there. I'm heading down to Orlando though on Monday to see my sister for a week before the cruise. Kenny will join us the Sunday before the cruise. I'll let you all know what the weather is like.

Did you guys go thru a travel agent? Last time we did, and they didn't get us our docs until 5 days out. DCL shipped them to the TA and the TA sent them via DHL to us.

Sadly no, she isn't coming. She doesn't have enough paid time off,and with the plant closing for two weeks over the holidays, she really needs that 36 hrs of overtime. I should have waited to find out when she got off before saying anything. She's ok though. Going to spend Christmas with her big brother and his family. Course she would much rather be going with us, she also doesn't want to be so far away in case something happened to one of the children. The ex isn't the most dependable of fathers And no, she has been working at Bar-S for the last 6 months or so.

How's the packing going? Knowing you, I bet you are almost finished

Not sure where my head has been, but I just found out we can still check two bags each for FREE Somehow I thought the fee for the second checked bag went into effect before we bought airfare. but it didn't We bought air in Feb,and the restrictions didn't go into effect till May! Dale just rolled his eyes when I told him to bring down ALL the luggage. He's like great, no outfit will be left behind

We ended up buying with the dreaded United in February. It was 50% cheaper to fly into Tampa on United than anyone else. Five flight changes later we are still going lol. We get the first bag free and the second is 25 bucks. Needless to say we are all taking one big suitcase each. Bringing along a duffle bag if we buy too much crap as usual

No word yet, but I'll be calling my TA tomorrow! Congrats on the extra luggage ... I love taking everything I can too! So glad we're driving down (at least my husband is).

How's the packing going? Wish I could say mine was well underway, but I can't. The luggage is still in the attic! Guess we shouldn't have given Lindsey the car keys till after we got everything out of the attic. She's the skinny one in the family, so she gets to go up and drag everything to the edge so dad can reach it and get it down. By the time she gets home, Dale is to tired to mess with it. I have heard today is the day. We shall see No biggie, no matter how much I say I'm going to pack early, I'm always packing the night before we leave. Like, what? I'm actually going to SLEEP

Off to call the credit card company to let them know we're going to be spending using our CC out of the country.

Nope, haven't packed a thing. I think our suitcases are still at our storage shed. The house is a train wreck. My mind has been elsewhere. I better get going though, nine days until we leave. Nine days!! (Where's Annette when I need a 9 days smiley???)

Since it has rained buckets here in the past two days and they predict snow and ice tonight, I thought I would see what the weather has been in Nassau. According to weather.com, the temp is to be in the high seventies for the next 10 days with sunny weather. That is such a nice thought

I am envious of all who have started packing. I've barely begun thinking about what to take. We did nail down our airport parking and how to get to and from the port yesterday so we are making progress

Could we get a final count of who is doing the fish extenders, children's ages and room numbers? I don't want to leave anybody out and I will take responsibility for publishing a master list.

I'm gonna go fix that in a moment. Apparently I'm not using the right terminology. But, you know the DCL logo with the wavy lines and Mickey head in the middle? There are more pics like that but with pirates, tink, etc. One of the ones that I got, the pirate Mickey and swords were off center and it's bugging me a little bit. It is supposed to go to -25f/-31c here in the next few days. I really feel like I got my money's worth when that happens.

I thought it was gonna be a little warmer. Oh right. I was looking at averages for this time of year since they don't have that forecast for beyond 10 days. It is normally in the low 80's for the high and 60's for the low. That is soooo much better than the current high 50's low 30's we have right now. And this is TEXAS!!!

We are still doing the FE. Room number 7543. DD 16 DS 11.
