12/24/08 Christmas Cruise on the Wonder

I was surprised about how little are in the docs now.

Since we are not doing any land or transfers the only thing in the docs that mattered are the luggage tags and those are not even required.

We use to get really excited about the docs, but now there is nothing to them. Everything is on-line. It takes away some of the fun.:sad1:

This is our first Disney vacation in 8 years. I remember how much information was in the docs back then. All the cruise lines are going to online check in and the need for travel docs isn't there. We still opt to get them by mail, just because it signifies our vacation coutdown is in full swing:dance3: And yes. I still keep them. I have a drawer full of travel docs from all our cruises:boat:

What do I do with the luggage tags? I finally have docs in hand:lovestruc

You put them on your suitcases en route to Port Canaveral. When you get PC, you will be met by porters who take you luggage at the curb and deliver it to your stateroom in the afternoon or early evening. If you think that you might want to swim or freshen up before dinner, take those things in a carry-on. It was dinnertime when we got the last of our stuff last time.

We got our documents today!!! :cool1: The travel agent called and we rushed right over and picked them up.

DD got through surgery today just fine. Now maybe we can both be fully recovered by the cruise. 19 days and counting:banana: :santa:

Thanks very much I didn't have a clue:banana:

Disney Movie Rewards....yay we won a small prize!
We have been playing the Disney Movie rewards games faithfully every day. We had not played them today and ds5 asked if he could play them I said sure!!! Well lo and behold he won something on the Tinkerbell spinning game!!!! He won a enchanted call........and it was PERFECT timing!!! Ds turns 6 on Monday. Mickey Mouse will be calling him on Monday to wish him a Happy Birthday! I just had to share because real people do win these things!!!

I like how you think:thumbsup2

Michael took his test this morning, so now they both have their license. Michael won't have his pickup to drive till his older sister can get the down pmt for a new car. Hardly seems fair to Michael, but she has to get to and from work. Maybe Dad will give her the downpmt for Christmas so Michael can get his old beat up S-10 back
Otherwise, he's gonna want to drive my new Highlander, and that ain't gonna happen:sad2:

Does Texas have the graduated drivers license for teens? The twins have a class G which allows them to drive between 5:30 am to 11:00 pm unless to or from work.school functions, then they must provide proof. Also, only one non family member passenger. This restriction stays on for 6 months. If they get one ticket or accident, the restrictions stay an additional 6 months, or in some cases till they are 18.

I think Texas has something similar. I'm still just letting her have her permit until we are both more comfortable with her driving. Saves me from paying insurance on her too. :thumbsup2

Congratulations and happy birthday to your son:woohoo: That will make his birthday extra special!:dance3:

Are you guys taking Magical Express to your resort? I have forgotten if we are supposed to call the week before we arrive, or if DU or DCL took care of it already. :confused3

Congrats on getting your docs Sheri and Adrianna:cheer2: Looks like Courtney and I are still waiting. I'm trying to be patient, and not bug my DU agent about them, but with everyone getting them, it;s getting harder. Besides. Patience has bever been one of my virtures..:lmao:

I hear ya. Unfortunatly for us, both kids were comfortable driving, and have done really well...knock wood. Insurance premiums are unbelievably high.:sad2: Both ours know one ticket or accident that makes the rates go even higher, they lose the privalage to drive, and will be excluded from our policy.

Du should have taken care of it. Call just to make sure. We are not using it this time. We are renting a Minivan in Tampa and keeping it right through to the 28th even parking it at port while on the ship.

Unfortunately, no Magic Express to SOG, so have reserved Towncar service with Happy Limo. Still waiting on an email confirmation though. Have confirmed by phone, but still no email after two requests.

Magic Express. We used it in January. Ugh! Be prepared to waste two good hours at the airport! On the upside, it's cheaper than a Towncar!

Two hours:scared1: oh well, maybe our room will be ready by the time we get there. Happy Limo huh? cute name.:thumbsup2

Some sad news, esp. for those on their first Disney cruise. Last week during a wind storm, the mooring lines broke causing the gangway to fall into the water. No one was hurt, but the gangway was damaged. Word on the general board is that DCL officials onboard told passengers that it will take 6 to 8 weeks to repair the gangway. In the meantime, passengers will embark/disembark via deck one gangways.:sad2: This means we won't get to walk through the Mickey ears, and into the beautiful atruim while the cast member announces our arrival.

Here is the link to the damaged gangway thread. Included is a link to last weeks thread about the moorings breaking and pictures. I am going to keep an eye open tomorrow for reports from those getting off the Wonder tomorrow. Maybe the castmembers will still find a way to announce families.:confused3

DANG IT!!!! I'm the one that told you about that stupid incident and they said it wasn't going to affect anything. That really stinks.

I know. Walking though the Mickey ears and into the atrium is my favorite part of embarkation. It will take so much of the experience out of it to have to board from the bottom of the ship. Someine mentioned going down a service elevator, or escalater to the dock to board. Hopefully, we will learn more when todays cruise returns on Thursday. I'm sure someone will post their experience so we will at least know what to expect. I'm with you. Just bummed. Esp for those here going with us, who have never experienced embarkation on a Disney ship before. :sad2:
