I have been to the Indy 500, way in the past,,,, oh ,,,, like 7-8 years ago. I only live about 10 miles from the track. Matter of fact, a lot of the drivers and owners apparently fly in and out of the small airport near our house, Eagle Creek airport. What a zoo when it is race time. Don't head out in traffic for fear of your life.

Dan, I was watching a movie when you posted...anything to try to stay alert for midnight - LOL! The DCL site was sooo sloooowww last night, but I was able to book the shore excursions that my MIL and FIL wanted with the exception of the St. Thomas Island Tour. They were not interested in Palo, so that made things easy.

Robyn, did you get what you and DH wanted? I saw there were Palo ressies still open on Christmas Eve and Christmas day...I'd LOVE to do something like that if our DD's weren't traveling with us

It's Barb Pescar (bpescar) here. I hope all your efforts of staying up got you what you wanted. So Who else is going on the Afternoon Beach Break at St Maarteen? Mark and I have had these awful colds the last few days so we have enjoyed reading and following your posts. It won't be long now. We had our local Oktoberfest this past weekend and we picked up some great gifts for the kiddies and the ladies. We also found some unique things for the men on the list. This will be a lot of fun to share a little of our hometown with each of you. Well it is that time again to teach those students their English skills. Talk to you later!

I did book this morning, though. We got the St. John island tour, Tiki Hut Snorkel, and Extreme Activities (I think that's what it's called?) at Castaway Cay. We're trying to take it easy and prevent little miss pale (me) from turning into a crispy critter!

Yup, we got what we wanted! We decided to go with Palo the evening that we're at St Maarten. I don't want to miss Animators Palette, and since drizzt117, his wife, DH and I will be sitting together, I think our rotation was arranged already (if I understand correctly from Thomas).

I've started pricing out the material for the FEs. Unfortunately, I doubt I'll be able to make them customized for each person. I still have to make an FE bag, too. If I can make one, it'll be cheaper than buying one, right?

It will be tough getting the girls motivated that early in the morning, but I figured it wouldn't require a whole lot of energy being expended so they should be fine...LOL.

Wait, how do you know what nights the events are? If we want to do the pirate night, should we change the time of our Palo reservation?

Robyn, we went on this itinerary in April and pirate night was on the night we were in St. Maarten (Tuesday). That is traditionally the evening it is held, so unless something changes, we will have pirate night on Tuesday and St. Thomas is on Wednesday. You can still do Palo on pirate night...pirate night didn't start until 9:30 or 9:45, so depending on your Palo time you should be fine.

Kimberly,,,, I think I also saw where pirate night is ST Maarten night. I was looking at a thread for eastern route and also think it said that the dessert night is St Thomas night. I think, 11PM. At Lumieres. Barb,,,, We are all going to the St. Maarten afternoon beach thing at the Orient beach. I was talking with a CM at DCL two days ago and they have a saved area with beach chairs roped off for us. Unsure if there will actually be jet skis or not. They will supposedly have parasailing. I logged on to the tripadviser website and found out that the high will average 82 and the low will average 73 for the month of December.

In addition to our wetsuits(just bought them) we also have masks and fins.

That is what we have it for is times like these . I would do it but I now barely have a voice. Oh well glad I am getting this over with before the holidays. My students are loving all this time off. Our school districts can't afford subs, so I have to assign work via the internet. Bill Orient Bay sounds great. I will relay the info to hubby. He is bringing his gear. Santa is trying to buy him a fancy underwater mask with a camera in it. Found it in the skymall magazine from the airlines. Our last camera was a cheapy and filled with water and we lost all our great photos of Castaway Cay.

Yes, pirate night will be on Tuesday (the evening we are in St. Maarten) unless something has changed since earlier this year. We just did this itinerary in April, so I double-checked my Navigator to confirm it. Did you happen to be on another itinerary last time? Pirate night is on different evenings depending on whether you are on a Bahamas cruise, Western Caribbean, or Eastern Caribbean so maybe the one you were on did have it on the night before CC. If someone calls DCL and finds out it's changed, though, please do let us know!
