Dave and I are both listed as donors. When his mother died she was also a donor. I think they were able to use most of her organs, except her lungs (she was a heavy smoker). We know her heart went out right away and, I believe her liver. I don't think we heard about the other organs but I know her death enabled several people to continue to live.

is today the day they were suppose to reveal the next cruise itin..how can we take advantage of the discount from being on christmas cruise to book the new cruise if they havent told us about it yet??
what is booking a dummy cruise all about??

What they are talking about when they talk about a dummy cruise is when you were on board you booked a cruise as far out as they have released but you really have no intention of going on that cruise you are only holding your 10% and onboard credits and then when the future cruises are released you move your date which would then include your discount and credits to your new date. I have heard but I do not know how true it is that you may not get a discount for one of the repos or other high in demand cruises. Anyone know?

Announcement is tomorrow.

You had to book while on board. Once you walk off the ship it no longer applies.

I got a thing from DCL today....no magnet, but a CD instead? NOW HOW AM I GOING TO HANG THAT ON MY REFRIGERATOR?

They don't know who they're messing with... ...I'm already in a mood today. The kids are out of school (AGAIN--They've gone 7 days since December 15) and we were heading out to do errands then drop Kev at a friends' house. My car is locked...it wasn't locked last night, my purse (and keys) are still inside. DH "punched the wrong button" as he left early this morning for the airport! So, several hours, 1 locksmith, $85 and several scratches around my window later, I can finally get into my car again. I'm sure some day I will think it was funny!

a CD???????? Was it the Castaway Cay one? Wonder why they sent different things to different people. Don't they know we compare? I wish they would make a cd of all the sailaway party songs.

You know what? We had onstar...but decided to let it lapse. I already had GPS and roadside assistance, so it was costing a lot of money for the possibility that I might get locked out of my car, which is nearly impossible! Honestly, the only way it could happen was the way it did, with my keys inside (which they usually aren't) and my DH locking it, (which he never does, but he said he remembers fumbling around early in the morning and hitting the button for my car instead of his own. I still don't feel that bad about letting the onstar go, because the locksmith was cheaper than keeping them--assuming it doesn't happen again any time in the near future.

Oh, and the CD isn't bad...has some songs, a screensaver, some pictures, etc. Now we all have to compare and see who got what!

Well...I hope it's not the same CD that I already have that they sent to me once before...has songs and screen savers of strange moving designs on it while the music is playing.
I like it but dont need another one...I collect magnits so a magnit it must be ...OR ELSE ..... .....

Shereena, shame that the cruise team is out. I liked cheering for them. Once we got on the cruise it seems that Jen dropped out and never came back. Looks like she does not want to hang out with us old folks either...

the weather has been in the low 40's here in the mornings and evenings, what gives! it was 38 degrees on the say to taking Michael to school today. No humidity so it felt more like high 40's.

It is about 68 know and sunny ...good thing cause I was going to have to call the weather gods and tell them to get over it.

Still have not got my mail yet so when we do and if I get my "MAGNIT" or something else I will inform you...have agreat evening and chat later..

We've had your 70s for about a week, but got a cold front and now we're in the 50s. I'm OK with that, it is January after all! The nice thing is that we'll have daffodils and stuff start coming up in about a month. Our Winter is short with a lot of breaks, but enough to give us seasons. I hated Winter living up North, but down here it isn't a big deal, and I actually welcome the change of pace...long as it doesn't hang around too long

Yep, too bad about the cruise team. Now I'm watching to see when it gets down to individuals. I guess there are still a lot of teams though. I thought we even lost Jen before the cruise, and chalked it up to the game, but maybe that wasn't it so much....

It has gotten very cold here and we got a light snow last night that is still there this evening! Ugh.

Sam got her hair braided again the other night. Different style this time but I bet Jack Sparrow would still compare it to Davy Jones!!

Speaking of which, I found POTC II Italian charms at Claire's Boutique this weekend. they had two different Jack Sparrow ones, Elizabeth, Will, and Davy Jones. Of course I got myself a JS one! And I got Sam a DJ one which she found amusing.

Sherrena - Well glad you got into your car. Kind of similar funny (now) situation happened to us.

We had just bought a new truck. Only one set of keys with it. Took our labs swimming in the lake. DH forgot to take the keys out of his pocket. 2 hours of searching relatively shallow water to no avail. $144 for the lock smith. Seriously, two months later went back to the same spot and a lady that was there the day we lost the keys came up to us and ask if we were the ones that had lost keys a couple of months ago and proceeded to hand us a set of rusty keys that a kid found on the bottom nearly a week after we lost them. It was kind of bitter sweet.

judy , thank you for answering..on the ship they tld me i didnt have to book on the ship because if was dvc member. that i could call even weeks later and still get the discount..but i called cruise line monday and thy askd a supervsr..and sd yes if you are dvc member thy can still gv you the discount, but i needed to go thrgh member services (which was closed yest for holiday) so whn i called today, thy sd no discount it has to be on the ship...and to keep watching for the new itin for any new cruise tht wasnt out yet.. i wll be calling thm agn tom..

robin , castaway didnt send me a magnet or a cd..thy snt me a letter of thanks for cruising and a form to send away for a free planning kit if i wanted one...
no , i want a magnet...also collect them...

I think Robin is planning it, don't know about anyone else...Mary Ann might be considering the repo.

That stinks about the cruise discount...and about the letter. I got my CD WITH the letter..

Well Joanie - that totally stinks you were given such bad info while you were on board. I had several conversations with that CM (sorry, can't remember her name) and she did say she had only been there about 4 weeks.

Don't get me started about the on board booking discount .

When we were on the '04 10 day, we re-booked the '06. At the time it was clear - the on board discount could not be applied to ANY "special itinerary" cruise. Well, I guess that rule changed somewhere along the line, yet I could not get it applied to our cruise ressie. It was $1000.00 for us and I just thought there was something a bit unfair about that

Whether they apply the on board booking discount to the CA Repo Cruises remains to be seen with the annoucement today. As of our December Sailing the discounts applied to ALL sailings - Subject to change, of course .

We are going to try to book a verandah stateroom for the CA Repo and depending on the price, may or may not go. We can always make that decision later on down the road. Some of the prices being talked about on the DIS are crazy. Although, it may not take too much for me to get over the sticker shock , and am definately going to try to book one when ressies open up.

How about you, Joanie...are you thinking about booking one of them???

Right now it's 7 degrees with a windchill of -19.

Can't complain though. It's mid January and this is the first really cold day of the year.

Looks like another day or so for the official announcement on the summer 2008 cruises....see below from the Webmaster...
Weather seems to be cold all over...watching the news and weeing all the ice storms....burrrrrrrrrrr

Yes...we are planning the Mexican Riviera either back to back ,seperate, or just one...will know when we see dates and $$$$

We've been told that the announcement has been pushed back until tomorrow and will take place at DCL's Celebration office. We don't know the time of this event.

They're also saying that booking may not start on the 31st.
