I didn't realize these patches, etc were prescription in this country. In that case I would definitely talk to my DD's pediatrician about them if I were going to look into them. She knows the shots are for a reason, she has seen me get them (I am a diabetic, she sees me change my pump all the time) and it doesn't bother her when it isn't her getting the shot. I know other shot phobics as well. Fortunately I am not one of them! The last time she had to have a shot DH had the doctor fill a syringe with saline and inject him with that before DD got hers but that still didn't help much. We had crying and wailing anyway. I know her shot hurt (antibiotics and antihistamines for a reaction to a bee sting) because she had a nasty hard spot for almost a week afterwards and I think the pain is what gets her. She doesn't like having splinters removed either. So when she needs shots her dad goes with her and just helps her to calm down and focus. Better for her ultimately than drugs anway
