So an hour ago the boy across the street was playing in my yard....then he went home and Kev wondered why he didn't come back....then the ambulances pulled up....

Wow! talk about a change in your day....

The guy across the street (the little boys' father was diagnosed with cancer just over 2 years ago.) He's been very sick, but I guess this wasn't the end. He continues treatment, even though the cancer continues to get worse...I guess he just had a really awful response to his treatment...they've taken him to the hospital.

I don't know what to hope for..the mom is very stoic and brave, but the whole process of watching him degrade and having to become a permanent caregiver has taken a toll on her...not to mention the poor little boy. She told me last Friday, when he started this last round of treatment, she asked the boy not to go too far because she might need him to help "check on dad." By Saturday night she did let him come sleep over here, though. She's had a very tough life for the past two years....

OK, I'm bummed...I think I'll go hug my kids or something...

Wow - Well I pray that they can find comfort in knowing that there are lots of people that are touched by their experience and pray for them to have peace - whatever that means for their family. Thank you for sharing -- it helps snap alittle perspective on the daily problems that we all deal with. :grouphug:

Morning Kat---

Morning, everyone soon to wake up! :sunny:

I'm still looking for my ornament but have some ideas about where to get one...hope it works out...I've looked in a couple of touristy stores, but the problem is they have standard stuff and don't always carry ornaments.

Like I said, I have some ideas....hope to take care of it while MIL is here and we're sporting her around....

other than that, same old stuff today...DS16 is staying home sick. I don't think he's that bad...he said he wasn't himself last night, but seemed fine when scrapping with his brothers...then I guess he didn't sleep well. I wanted him to tough it out, but it is his decision. He's pretty responsible and gets great grades, so....

Luckily his staying home doesn't change my day....I might swing by and get him lunch or something, but he just sleeps anyhow...

I'll check in later...
Try a HallMark store in your area...that is where I got mine for SD....

Robin you are funny.

It is coincidence that I am getting off the computer. It has nothing to do with you getting on. :lmao: :rotfl2: I have to go pick up DS and get the turkey (Real Turkey) out of the car and into the freezer again.

Chat with you later.

Hi everyone!

DH finally home from out of town, glad to be ready to take it easy.

Thanks for all of your kind wishes about our neighbor. All I know right now is that they have gone to the hospital...probably won't know any more until tomorrow, unless she needs something..and she had people there when it all happened, so she is probably fine. I'll probably try to check in with her tomorrow. Any time I've asked her what I can do, she asks me to help keep her son entertained...no problem here, the guys treat him like their fourth brother. She also asks for prayer. So if you want to pray for comfort for them, whatever happens, that would be great.

It has been hard to watch him get sicker, watch the effect on his wife and his son (then 10, now 12). It's a nasty disease...I don't think I know anyone whose life it hasn't affected.

So tomorrow I'll go back to stressing about my messy office, but like Angela says...it does put things into perspective.

Thanks again for all your kind thoughts... :grouphug:

Gotta go, I feel like it is almost time for Robin to come back. By the way, thanks for your thoughts about the Hallmark store. I did look there briefly the other day, but all they had were the standard Hallmark things, at least where I was looking. I should probably look in other parts of the store where they do tend to carry some local stuff.

Night guys! Hope all who have gone to the movies have a good time....was the popcorn good? popcorn::

I have lost several people (including my Dad this past January) to Cancer, so I understand it is a very difficult thing to witness. My heart goes out to this family and to you for having to share their pain.

Definately...go give your kids a hug, and here's another one for

you :grouphug: :grouphug:
My FIL passed away last summer (July 2005) and we are all still a wreck from it. It has been hard for our family to move on, he was such a strong presence. This is why we are going on the cruise this year instead of being home for the holidays. It will be all 5 of us, DH, me, DD (13), DS(9), and MIL. MIL can't stand to be at her house for the holidays without FIL. So sad!! :sad2: :sad2: Although I don't post much, I always read what is going on. I look forward to meeting you all on the ship.

I am so sorry about your Dad but I think it is wonderful that you honor him. Here's a hug for you, cause you can never have too many. :grouphug: \

My internet has been down all evening, finally got it back up!!!

Sounds like it has not been very cheerful in here this evening. Where has everyone been today? It has been much quieter than usual.

Aww I'm sorry to hear about your dad, Jen! It's good that you keep him in your thoughts. My Grandma passed away 11/12/02 from lung cancer. The previous year she had colon cancer but was able to get rid of it, the summer of '01 was when our grandparents took us on our first cruise for their 50th anniversary, she was able to recover just in time. Both her cancers were rough on our family, so I know what everyone here has been through, and your neighbors too! Pixie dust in the hopes that things turn out for the best for them. :wizard:

Hey there Heidi, how are you doing? Not much of anybody out here tonight it looks like.

Glad my stressful week is finally over! And excited to be going home on sunday! :Pinkbounc But my guy is in the hospital. :guilty: As it turns out...he too has cancer. :worried:

How are things with you?

Wow, that's not good. I am so sorry to hear that. My week has been pretty stressful but not as bad as that!

Yeah...I'm not entirely sure what's going on. He won't talk about it so I don't know if it's anything too serious or not. But he did say his sister tried to get him to sign papers in case he dies so I don't know. :worried: His brother kind of went through the same thing about a month ago (they're twins) and he's fine now, so that's why I kind of have the feeling that everything's going to be fine.

yeah no problem....and if you ever just want to talk about anything...im me at NCISLJGibbs (AIM & Yahoo)

Thanks! My AIM is NojNor05 if you need any bio help. :rotfl: Although my test that I took in that class this morning might show that I'm no longer an authority on that subject. :rotfl:
Well...it's been a long day and a rough week...time for me to be turning in. Night Jen...and Kat if you're still here. :wave2:
