Lets see to begin we flew out of Hartford the day before, which was my birthday. Had a smooth flight, got our rental car and headed out to the Wyndham I drive. I was a bit apprehensive after reading reviews but we had a nice enough room, it was clean, no odors, and had a veranda that over looked the pool. It had two queen size beds (although they seemed small for queen's to me) and a little sitting area. The front desk played happy birthday on their computer when we checked it.
Suzie and her daughter Bri (florida minnie) were coming up to visit that evening so I thought I would get changed before we let for dinner. It was about 4pm and I asked Jay "where is the big suitcase?" He thought maybe we forgot it at MCO but when I checked the checked luggage stubs there was only three and knew we had a BIG problem. I called the shuttle service that we used to get from the parking lot to Bradley Airport and was informed that "oh yes your bag is here" Long story there but in the end it was federal expressed priority overnight and we picked it up the next morning in downtown Orlando. For dinner we went to Dan Marino's town tavern, Jay and Michael loved it, since I hate football I was not so enthralled but the food was good. We arrived back at the Wyndham and had a wonderful visit with Suz and Bri. I have to say her daughter was one of the most charming little girls I have ever met. (you have done a GREAT job raising her Suz!) The next morning after picking up the suitcase we headed to port.
There was a small Dis meet, Alex was there (my second cruise with him- he is so funny), Michelle and her husband, DeeAnn, and Phyliss who I never ran into again) Our table mates were Lisa and Michael (havingfun) and their children Braaten and Katie, Mike and Braaten enjoyed Yugioh talk while Katie was just adorable. It made for nice dinners.
The welcome aboard variety show was pretty good, I really like the new guy Freddy Fusion (or something like that) I hope they sign a contract with him!
We loved the Golden Mickey's except that it could not end due to some techinical difficulties, we will see it next year.
Our stateroom host was Carlos, great guy, our servers were not so great, don't want to mention their names as I don't want to besmudge anyone. However, they forgot my birthday, (mistake number one ) were kinda short with the children (mistake number two) would get annoyed if you interrupted them to ask a question or if you asked them to repeat something (mistake three) and the big one was the "excellent" talk. I HATE that speach (about give us and excellent on the survey) I interupted him when he was saying it and said I know the speach I have been on four DCL trips please stop, he kinda glared at me and continued. For that I gave him a good in one area just because he would not listen!
In Palo we had Marco who was absolutely perfect and wonderful! He even brought me a cake when I told him how they had messed up.
In St. Maarten we did the Anguilla Dolphin excursion. It was AMAZING I would do it over and over again. We had Paige Davis and her husband in our group. Her husband is a great guy. She was hard to read, very standoffish. But then when she saw us shopping in St. Maarten later and at castaway cay she was all smiles and waves, maybe because we did not fawn all over her?
The only negatives about the Anguilla trip were the food (we missed most of it while buying our photos, only scraps left) and the ferry wait, they are not punctual at all over there, but if you go in knowing that you won't get stressed. We opted to skip our main dining when we got back which was about 4:40 and go shopping, the jewelry and liq. deals can't be beat there. We ate at topsiders which was actually the same food as the restaurant.
In St. Thomas we took a cab up to Bluebeard's castle (or blackbeards I don't recall which one) it is a time share now which cheapens it but it was still cool. We kept bumping into DeeAnn and her family (she did bring lots of plunder for Mike to bring back to class) what great people! We finally hooked up with them the last night and did the british pub night, it was such fun,, of course we forgot the kids, and they were waiting for us as the clubs close at midnight that day. Castaway Cay was cold - the first time I have ever been there that I did not go in the water. Jay and Mike really enjoyed the new game room. I loved the Christmas decorations, still can't figure out what the "snow" was that was blowing but it looked real. I talked DeeAnn and Bret into trying a konk cooler (she does not like suntan lotion drinks) and after we finished the first they were hooked.
All in all it was a great trip again. Room service has some snaffues to work out. We ordered on Monday night while the guys were watching the game and it never came, I tried calling after an hour and a half and could not get through. We did get some chocolate strawberries the next day to make up for it, but unfortunaely I was too full and could not eat them, I put them in the fridge to have the next day but they don't keep well. It was a nice thought anyhow. When I was getting my foot massage the attendant told me that in 2005 they will be starting the mexican riveara, and that he heard in January an announcement will be made. The spa is nice but they still try to really push the products. I went for a foot massage and the guy tried selling me vitamins that were $273.00 what that had to do with me feet is beyond me. The hard sell kept me out of the spa for two cruises and may keep me out on the next one. Well I am happy to answer any questions,, other than that Happy Holidays to All! Ann

I think that's what I like about the Rainforest...you get to use the spa but you don't have to talk to anyone! Welcome back, thx for sharing your cruise with us!!

Great trip report Ann! Thanks so much!

Just one question for now... Were you able to find a Louis Vuitton wallet, and if so, which island and how much?

In St. Thomas, my guess is it MUST be a knock off but I can not tell the difference, it looks exactly the same has the same clasp, insignia etc. However, this was only $20.00 as oppossed to 150.00. They had a lot of lois vuitton, coach, prada etc. All the store had them. In St. Maarten the cheapest I could find was $50.00 glad I waited until st. Thomas, now I wish I bought more than the one I am giving away tomorrow.

Mexican Riveara in 2005 huh??? Angelina was born in Mexico, that might be a thought, thanks for sharing that, let's see what happens.

Thanks for the info Ann. I'll keep my eyes open in both places!

Hey Alexandrew~
actually her real name is Mindy Paige Davis. She goes by Paige Davis for her professional name... They did a TLC Wedding Story when she and Patrick were getting married, he calls her Mindy.

Great trip report Ann!! Suz told us about Jay's luggage.. Glad it showed up in time!!

He did refer to her as Paige when talking to people. someone said that his little talk he gave was very informative and he replied" Paige's signing is Thursday". When they were in with the stingrays (I filmed them for themon their digicam) he called her Paige a few times. Maybe he calls her Mindy in private.
