12/10/05 ~ Anyone else cruising.....??

Wow, I guess getting closer to the trip makes everyone post-happy! I wasn't on for a day or two and there were already like 5 new pages to this thread!!! Wow.

Re: scrapbooking stuff (as there were several comments on it) - cool, love to hear about more people scrapbooking (although in the men's world, we call it "album making" so it's not so girly sounding). I still have WDW 2001, 2002 and 2003 to do. AND I haven't done any of DD's birthday parties yet (she's three). I have my stuff currently spread all over the dining table (with DH's permission) but someday I'd love to have a room all my own to have things set up in all the time. I am way behind, however one of my friends - who has 4 kids age 4 and below, mind you - is ALL CAUGHT UP, with all 4 kids' albums and her own. CRAZY. She is a very practical scrapbooker and only does a few page spreads per event. (unlike me, who has 2 12x15 sized albums for our WDW 1999 trip - that's like 100 pages for a 10 day trip). I'm getting better though at consolidating and not doing too many pages. Live and learn over time, I guess...

My favorite size is the 12x12 but I've done all different sizes for various purposes. I'm currently working on DS' album as I don't want him to feel like the "second child" who doesn't have any photos, albums, video, etc. Ha ha.

But sadly I go back to work this Friday after having 4.5 months off. It's so depressing. The only good thing is that 2 weeks after that, I'll be off for 2 weeks on vacation... ha ha ha ha. :cool1:

Whoo hoo!

Angie, I got your PM. Thanks. Maybe try and meet up at MGM in the AM. We can figure out a time as we get closer.

I see you at least snagged 1650... accident? Luck?

Hee hee hee.

Our DGS threw up first 10 min in the club. He had just turned 3 and got upset that we left him alone, cried and then threw up. That was his standard when upset and crying. Sheesh! He did not want to go back, so we did not bother with the clearance. He just played with Grandma and Grandpa when Mom and Dad were doing adult stuff. He is now six and a few weeks ago said, "Grandma, remember when I got upset and threw up on the Disney ship? Well, I wouldn't be afraid now and I would PLAY on that pirate ship if I went again!" LOL So, of course Grandma booked him on our Dec 2006 trip. He will be seven then! :earsboy:

I've done some scrapbooks, but mine are not nearly as artsy as some I have seen. I am a more practical person than creative. But, the great thing about scrapbooks are that they are YOURS and represent you.

I have one that I want to do with our family at Disney over the past 38 years. DH and I met at DL and were married less than 4 weeks later, :bride: :groom: so I thought I would start with our wedding photo then add pages with the kids thru the years and now the grandkids. I also have photos with DH and I and each of my grandmothers and both of our parents at DL some years ago. Also have some from when we were Girl Scout leaders with our troups at DL. (Yep, DH was a card carrying Girl Scout for 5 years when our girls were young! AND he likes to shop!) The scrapbook front says "Disneyland Where the Magic Began". Hmmmm. Guess I should get started on that one next year. The problem I have had getting started is that I need to dig thru hundreds of photos we have stashed around to find Disney ones over the years. DH is also a photo buff and therefore the massive amounts of photos to search thru.

Do you think our sailing is full? I checked the DCL site and there were 8 cat 4's, GTY only for cat 5 and 11 and 1 for cat 8. I wonder if the suites are booked? Wonder if there is anyone famous?

My TA is expecting the docs anytime now he said!! :jump:

I was up at the ungodly hour of 4 this morning so I started to pack the girls costumes....I can completely see how easy overpacking is. I think I already have too much stuff packed!

I like how in the new Navigators they post the rotation and times..did anyone notice that? I have a strong feeling we'll have 5:45 and APL which is fine with me. I just can't wait to start eating again....:)

Yes, I totally agree. I am much more the practical one vs. artsy. I can't justify spending hours on a page, and only having one picture on it. I have way too many photos and far too few hours to spend that kind of time. I am even cutting back on my paper/stickers/enhancements on my pages and just sticking to photos, journaling and simple decoration. It takes enough time just to do that!

Re: sorting, I just did that a while ago - went through all the photos in my house, gathered them in one area, and sorted, sorted, sorted. Probably discarded over 1000 photos, and others I distributed to various people and then organized what I had left to do. Even then, I have boxes and boxes, but at least they're all organized.

That's what Jordan is doing now, sorting all his various years of WDW photos and figuring out how to lay out his pages. Once you get started on sorting though, it's a lot easier to figure out which ones to keep and which ones to toss. I got pretty heartless as time went by and didn't have any trouble discarding photos I wasn't going to use.

Good luck! Albums are such treasures and bring back fond memories of events past.

I am afraid DH would :faint: FAINT if I threw out even one photo. Hmmm. Might have to sort thru them when he is working. :scratchin We do need to downsize soon as we plan to retire and move to much smaller quarters in a couple of years.

 Hmmm. Maybe I can sort them and tell him he has to scan the ones I don't want to keep and put them on a disc if he wants to keep them. :teeth: That could be a win/win.

I to try to crop simplisticly. I think all the embelishments can detract from the pictures. One picture on a page is a waste of space. I like to matte my pics & do my journeling & slap it on a page.
This cruise will be my first disney scrapbook. I have already bought some DCL supplies for my album. I intend to buy a DCL album if they have them on the ship. I hope so.
Right now I am working on a small album that I made from an A.O.L. CD case that I recieved in the mail, for my mother fot Christmas. The whole family flew to PA last May over mothers Day weekend to see my neice graduate from colleage. It was a very memorable weekend. I'm almost done.

Wendy I have to agree albums are a treasure. That is your family history!

I can't beleive less than a month away!If I'm this excited I wonder how I will be a week before the cruise. I will probably eat sleep & talk cruise hummm....Thats what I'm doing now!! :rotfl2: I'll be a mess by then oh no! :rotfl2: That last week best go by fast!!

:wave2: Diana

Diana, last Dec we were looking for a DCL scrapbook and all we could find was 2005. It was still 2004 and I did not want a 2005 book. Then one evening we found a corner of discounted merchandise and there were lots of 2004 books at 50% off! Oh, I do love a good deal! We sailed a little later in Dec last year so don't know if we will be that lucky this year.

Yeah, in the beginning I couldn't bear the thought of throwing away photos! But I have gotten better over the years - if it's a bad picture, I toss. If I have several of the same thing, I just keep the best one or two and toss the rest. If I took pictures of an event that I don't plan on scrapping, I either toss or give it to someone who might want it (someone else's wedding, birthday, etc.) I am getting better also at not taking pictures of things I don't seriously plan on scrapping.

DisneyDi - I agree with too many embellishments taking away from the pictures, but to each his own. I have discovered that each person has different ideas of what the end result should be... some people get the joy of creating a "masterpiece" page and people like me just need to get those darn pictures on the pages and journaled before my mind goes. Ha ha.

:rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl: That I can relate to!!

DH just called. He is working at Albertson's today (he works for an agency and so works for many different companies) and they have a Halloween sale today. $5 for all you can fit into a grocery bag! He got candy, of course, but also picked up about 20 glow sticks, which were originally $2.50 each. What a bargain! We plan to bring the glow sticks on the cruise with us for the DIS kids Pirate night. I'm off to the local Albertson's to see if I can get more.

cool!

My package came today....

I have pirate eye patches, pirate tattos, pirate stickers and pirate flags for everyone (I hope!) I also bought a pirate pennant banner which is like 100 feet so definitely enough to share.

Almost ready for MNF. Don't really like either team, but I want Philly to show T.O. that they don't need him.

Argh. No glow sticks at the other Albertsons. Hope 20 will be enough for at least the little kids.
