No wonder you guys know so much about DCL. I had read that it was addicting but chose not to believe it. I guess I'l learn the hard way, but at least I'll have fun doing it. :)

This will be our 4th 7 day cruise. :) They are very addicting. The only thing that eases the sting from leaving the ship on the last day is knowing that we already have another cruise booked. We will be going to WDW for a day before the cruise this time.

We didn't rebook on board, we thought the let-down feeling of leaving the ship would go away in a few days.

We are planning on going to MVMCP the Thursday night before, and MGM on Friday. With our land/sea we checked in for the cruise at the resort, can we do that with a seven day? We'd like to make a stop at Downtown Disney or AK before the cruise. From what I've gathered we can't, but I guess it's worth asking.

Yes, the menus will stay the same for a while now so we are good on that....UNLESS you can get a copy of Palo's menu. If you angle your camera just right you can take a picture of them, which is what I was doing but after talking to the head server & telling him that I am a mod on this board & why people want to see them beforehand, he made copies of the computer listing for all of them. :) Thanks!

If I get to Palo, i will gladly TRY to take pictures or ask for a copy!

We didn't rebook after our first cruise either. :( Sadly I tried but DH insisted that it would be at least 2 years before we cruised again  so he didn't want to do the deposit for that long. :rotfl: The next week at home he asked if I would "MIND" if we went on DCL in less than 2 years. :love2: He was thinking Feb or March for a good price so I suggested that if he wanted the best deal, go in December. We were booked 3 weeks after we got off the ship...BUT DU got us a great rate that was better than the 10% + 200 credit. This time we had two cruises booked so didn't have to deal with the rebooking line.

You can't checkin for the cruise the way you do on the land/sea, i.e. one KTTW card that works both at WDW and on the ship. You will need to check in at the port, but you can use the Castaway Club check in line which is shorter usually. You can use Disney transport an be picked up at either your resort or AK though.

Yes, we are addicts! ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo In addition to our yearly cruise and stay at WDW we also go to DL at least once. Love the magic of it all. :wizard:

So if I don't care what time we get on the ship, what time do I have to be at the port? Will our luggage still be taken from the resort or do we have to take care of it? I appreciate everyone's answers, if I get annoying let me know and I'll post my questions on the other boards. Thanks!

I think you have to be on board by 4, but I'm not sure about that. Usually we ask how early can we get onboard. :rotfl2: If you do DCL transportation, they will pick up your luggage at the resort, you can take your carryons with you to AK and catch a bus there. I would call DCL to ask what time the bus leaves AK and if you need to let them know that is what you are doing. :sunny:

Oh, and we do not mind answering questions. I think you will find a wealth of DCL knowledge in this group. ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo

Welcome, Laura & crew! Be sure to check out the first post of this thread for our website info so that you can tell us a little more about yourself & learn about the rest of us too...along with seeing what we all look like.

Everyone, just a reminder to be sure to add my email to your address books when you send me your website info. Many are not getting the updates with the link because their ISPs are sending my emails directly to their spam or deleted folder.

Lisa--The website looks great!! My DD is excited that there are other girls her age. Thanks for all the work you do for other DISers.

Laura--Welcome to you and your family. The December 06 will be our second cruise as well. We went on a 3-day to "test the waters" and loved it. We hope the days between now and then go fast. :)

Welcome Laura!

More than happy to answer any questions.

Back in 2000, I reluctantly booked a 7 day land/sea vacation for my family - I was reluctant about the cruise part, but was a huge Disney fan, so if I was going to try it, it would be Disney. I thought of it at the time as a thing you have to do once in your lifetime.

This 2006 cruise will now be our 8th DCL cruise including that one. Two three days, one four day, and this will be the fifth seven day. IDK if any of you cruised in January 2002, but because of tourism being down due to 9/11, you actually got a coupon for a FREE 3 night cruise when you did a seven night! That was a great deal back then.

I guess you could say we are hooked. After that 2000 cruise, we also bought DVC, so now, we try to do a cruise, and a DVC stay each year. They are the best family vacations we ever take, and the DIS boards have been an added bonus since I found them in 2001. I have met may wonderful people here, some of whom have become great friends. (most of my co-workers and other friends do not share or understand this addiction of ours). The people we met on the 12/10 cruise were just GREAT, and we are glad we will be seeing many of them again. Luckily, DW and I both LOVE Disney, and love DCL even more than WDW.

As far as the resort and 7 day cruise, I think you will at some point find it more convenient to rent a car or use a limo to go to the port on your own. That way you set your own schedule - not one that is set for you.

John

Welcome Laura,

I see you're from Canada. How's the weather this time of year? Do you follow hockey? It's lonely being a hockey fan in Anaheim, California.

It looks like I am alone again...as always. Sorry Angie and Dennis. Really you can say you actually won because of that one play where the Texas player's knee was down, but oh well.....sorry. My roommate was rooting for Texas and was rubbing it in. I actually had to leave the room;go in my bedroom and shut the door.

I am here... late night owl on the West coast! I'm sometimes online till 2 am.. love the quiet in the house after the kids have gone to bed!

Hi! I'm up until 2am alot too! I can't stop looking
at these boards! :earseek: I'm still trying to see what all of you from 12/10 are up too - but I have been on the DVC trying to find out all I can!
