Any more ideas on what they are making on CC? Do you think it will be water slides? Mark

Did I read it right on the thread talking about this subject....it will only be accessible for CC club members? I wonder how well that will go over with first time cruisers? Fine with me, since we're repeat cruisers....wonder what it could be?!?

DCL is adding to castaway cay, not the a place for castaway cay club members at castaway cay. They haven't said what is being added, but that it will be ready for our cruise in December and that it will be for eveyone in the family. And it will be BIG!

Ps. dutch_girl_scout, poor you, no bowling gene, lol. I have to say I have run a league with 126 bowlers in the past and have made provincial(state) teams for the nationals. Bowling is great fun, and if you need the bummers, all the more fun!!!!

LOL! That thread is turning into a classic game of telegraph where you whisper to the person next to you & they pass it along. :) Honestly, it would be about time that returning cruisers actually "got" something IMO. If this is a special excursion, great!

Oh, guess what I got in the mail today!?!?!? The Castaway Survival kit! :) I know that we have downloaded it from BuddyBear's post but I was still so happy after I picked up the mail today. :)

I want one too! DH is home today. I'll have to call him and have him check the mail. Anything from Disney in my mailbox brightens my day. :sunny:

I just got a call from Family Fun for us to make a video of an idea that we summited to there magazine! They want us to be on T.V. :hyper: Let me explain. About 4 years ago my wife and I submitted an idea to Family Fun for an "in door camping trip". Well they called and said they want to come to are house and do a story on us!!!! :scared1: We said sure! They came out and took lots of pictures and we made it in. Then at Christmas time last year we were sent a "Family Fun My Great Idea" book and we made that book also we are on page 80 if you have it.
Well back to the call today they called and said could we make a video of the night? I said sure when do you need it by? This Friday!!!! AAAAAaaaaaaa :scared1: What? Well the producer needs it in his hands by Friday mourning. I said, "well tonight my Daughter is doing the Flag ceremony at the town hall. Tomorrow we are in Church. Then Thursady we have dog training...... :scared1: So what am I going to do? I need to talk to Emily but she is teaching till 3:00. The lady from Family Fun just kept saying o please if at all possible we just love your idea.
The idea is very simple. We loved to go camping when it was just the two of us but at the time we had a 4 year old and a 1 year old it was just to much work. So we came up with a camp out in doors. Just set up your tent start a fire roast so marshmallows. Everything that goes with camping just no dirt and your in doors.
If you have a Family Fun Magazine for this month we are in the add for the book on page 38. :sunny: What should we do?????

How awesome! You've got to do it!!!

We've done that several times and it is the best. My co-workers laugh at me. I had to take pictures of a 15 person tent popped up in my family room. The kids loved it! We had a picnic and everythin.g

I love FF magazine. I used to get it but don't anymore. Please let us know how this turns out.

Very exciting for you!!!! :cool1: :cool1:

Hey guys, Caroline has been posting on the live thread. Sounds like those changes to the kids clubs are not going over well. I'll be interested for her to give us the scoop.

Mark, you have to figure a way to fit this in! How fun will it be to watch you on TV!! Way too cool! :cool1:

Yes, told my 8 year old when I picked her up today. They were very excited. Maybe we'll try doing it before church tomorrow. Or I'll go late to puppy class. :confused3

That's so funny how things get distorted like Lisa said! Thanks for the clarification Penny! ::yes::

Mark-you guys HAVE to do it....it's a once in a life time opportunity. I hope you guys can find a way to work it out. Maybe take a make up session for doggie training. How fun for you guys!!!

I just talked with Emily and I will come home early from work tomorrow and I'll have my Mom come over to film it. No autographs please.... :teeth: :rotfl2: The editor did say "remember this is only the pilot so you may not make it to the air". I say give it a try! :scratchin
I'll keep you guys updated.

Mark--What a fun thing for your family!! I've read Family Fun at the Drs. office, I wish our kids were still little. :) I gather this is for a TV show? I didn't know they had one.

I'll have to check out Caroline's reports, I have a feeling the kid's club thing might change before we go, at least for the older kids, I think it was fine how it was with the parents being able to come whenever.

We might hit page 100 before the West coasters even come on tonight.

Mark,

How cool - do it if you can, and let us know. Where is this on TV? I've seen the magazine, but never seen a show?

To go back a ways, Lisa, I would not suggest the Holocaust museum for your dd and ds - there are areas Alex told me where they caution against children going in. However, with that said, we (this group and those like us who love Disney) do a great job of teaching our children about the good and positive things in the world - they have to know when they are ready about the other side so that they grow up they resist ever being a part of, or standing by while things like the Holocaust happen. Everyone decides when to teach those lessons to your kids - and when it may be appropriate.

I have many Jewish friends, and for them, those lessons start at a very young age. Likewise, I learned of the "Greek Holocaust" during the occupation of the Ottoman's from my mother at a very young age. I took some time on Monday to explain to my 5 yr old daughter what the MLK Holiday was all about, and the Civil Rights Movement that happened while her daddy was a child. Even if she only retains 10% of it, I will keep telling her those stories.

Off my soapbox.

Lisa, we really enjoyed doing a bus tour too. It would probably be too late and boring for the kids, but we did one at night of all the monuments. Cold in February, but may be nice in April.

Angie, I've also done the things you mentioned too, and it gave me goosebumps every time I visited those sights, and I could have watched the tomb of the unknown for hours. One of the things I won't forget anytime soon was at the Lincoln Memorial (there are signs at every Memorial that say "silence - respect" while we were there, there were a bunch of teenagers goofing around and making lots of noise. My son looked at me and said "I can't believe how disrespectful some people are". He was 17.

John

Mark,

We went to puppy class tonight. Here's the tip tonight for the biting. She bites me because she wants even more attention, and likes me best - how do you like that?

Anyway, the suggestion is as soon as it starts to remove myself to where she can't get to me. Leave the room. When she is biting at my pantleg, I am supposed to ignore her, stop, and lure her away and into a sit with a treat. Everything she does inappropriate, we are supposed to lure her into a positive behavoir and give her a reward - treat. I told DW I am going to need to buy one of those fanny pack treat packs and wear it around the house all night. I am betting we will also end up with a well bahaved fat dog! :dog2:

It was fun to see her interact with all the other puppies, and DW now believes me when I said I did not buy too big a dog. Some of the "puppies" in the class are already at what we anticipate her adult weight will be! The Great Dane had parents that weighed 175 and 185 pounds each!

Doing my part to get to 100.

John

I made it back for the 100 page party, yeah!!!!!

Lisa, I use to be a tour manager for Canadian education tours to D.C.

I second John, if your kids are absorers(sp?) of information it is a great idea to take them to the Holocaust museum, it a very tactile experience. And the night time tour, is wonderful, with all the lights it just seems more special. I love Arlington, it is so moving, I have had the pleasure to be there during Mamorial Day week and wow, I stayed at the tomb for a least an hour. I got to tour the Pentagon several times, and learned to walk backwards with the military guides, only hit one door frame.

Lisa you have to take them to the Ice Cream palour in the lower level of the American History Museum, it was great and they have a post office display there as well and you can actually mail a letter, bring your own stamps.
