I am proud of him ..no doubt ....but I am stressed cause he couldnt play and being a coach and a father I can tell you watching him from the stands this season has been great ...

This is the first year I havent coached cause Dylan schedule has been hectic , so its been hard to sit in the stands from a coaches perspective , but from a parents its been great know your kid just caught the pass, got the first down and scored ...lol

I loved football as a kid. I played EVERY day with the neighborhood kids - backyard ball. I loved football more than anything. I never got to play in HS or beyond though, becuase I had to get a job.

So when DS wanted to play midget football, I was thrilled. In this area though, if you are a certain size, you cannot touch the ball - you can only play line. Alex was that size. He went through all of conditioning, and when it came to the time to play, he decided he wanted to quit - no fun - all kids want to handle the ball, and he was put on the line.

Anyway, I made him personally go up to the coach and quit. He did it like a little man, and made me proud that he had the guts to do it. He learned a great lesson from that too.

So I never got to see my son play football at any level, but he was and we are blessed in other ways with him. He also made me realize that at that time I was hoping for him something I had wanted to do, but could not. My dream was not his dream.

I hope your DS does get to play and excel Todd, and play some day at USC - I will cheer him on and be able to say I knew him when he was just a young pirate!

DS received his first phone call from a girl tonight. She asked him to meet her at the fall carnival next Friday at school. :) I didn't expect those calls to start for at least another year.
These things happen at such a young age. Does this mean that Jake won't have to share Dina????? :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

You are SO right Lisa ... I am glad the Band Director did stick to it ..Hopefully it is a hard lesson learned for Dylan ...He knows he let his Team mates down , His Bandmates , Coaches and of course us ...He went to school the following day and apologized to his whole team and coaches in front of everyone and also the band and director ...He said it was the hardest thing he had to do , trying to explain to his other team mates what he had done ....He also wrote his band director a 2 page letter just to say he was sorry and he would accept his punishment and would move forward from here in a positve light rather then take it negative ....

I know its hard for him ...but hopefully he will understand that its time to start making the commitments and sticking to them ....

pirate:

Todd,

I do not know your son, but I am very proud of him, and how he has handled himself. Sure he messed up, but he appologized and is handling his punishment. A tough lesson learned!
It sounds like you are doing a dandy job raising your young pirates!

So being in band and on the Varsity Team, does he have to quickly change uniforms during halftime for the halftime show?

We have kids in our band who are on varsity (as long as they are not starters) who play and march at halftime. They march in their Football uniform with their instrument.

I have always been proud of that fact that the Band director and Football coach can work together like that.

Sure, how about a group therapy session. How about...oh...12/9 in Cape Canaveral? :confused3

I told DH that DS is good for my ego. Tonight at bedtime he said in his sweet little sleepy voice, "I love you princess mommy."

yesterday I was a cutie mommy...tonight a princess mommy!!!! Life is good!

Brandi are you a cat person? If you are then we have another twin difference. I am definitely a dog person especially since I am really, really allergic to cats.

101 Most Influential People That Never Lived

Can you guess who came in number one?

New York, NY -- Three guys from New Jersey are out with a book that ranks the 101 most influential people who never lived.

People like Luke Skywalker, who's number 85; Buffy the Vampire Slayer, who's number 44; and Mickey Mouse, who comes in at number 18.

The most influential person who never lived is The Marlboro Man. The authors call him "the most famous killer of the last 200 years."

Big Brother of George Orwell's novel "1984" ranks second. Santa Claus comes in fourth.

Karen,

Where do you get this stuff?

First we post all these smiles.

Now all this strange news?

What are we coming to?

As your twin I am duty bound to DEMAND that you immediatly go to your Netflix queue and starting renting the seasons! Friends was the BEST show on TV for many, many years. I have never laughed so hard at another show! :rotfl:
Oh...I have watched every episode. That was my Thursday night ritual for 10 years!!! I was making that comment to someone who had not watched the show. I can't believe that anyone never watched it! Trust me...I am your twin on this topic!!!!

Amy's Home! :teeth:

But she kept playing phone tag with Tana, and did not get to meet her.
(How can two DIS'ers be in that proximity and miss each other?)

BTW - I also now know how to pronounce Tana - Amy told me - it was on her voice mail answer . . . Maybe I can post that little secret on Ebay to the highest bidder . . . :scratchin

Ohhh...now that is very sneaky.... I LOVE IT!!! I like sneaky!!!! (especially when it doesn't involve me!) :rotfl:

I cannot tell you how many times my DS puts the kids clothes on backwards. :sad2: He has a real problem trying to put together an outfit for the kids that fits, matches and is the right season at the same time. They seem to be mutually exclusive of each other. I really shouldn't complain since at least he attempts! :)
My Dh does attempt as well...but he has the same affliction as your DH!!!
