Wow! Yes, we WANT this kid at USC! :cheer2: I'm impressed with him accepting responsibility and understanding how many people he let down.

If all goes right , thats where he wants to be ....I prefer him to do college in FL ...he wants to be a marine biologist ...but we will see how things change over the next couple of years ..

Now that is funny ... I don't care who you are.:rotfl:

NOTE TO ALL FATHERS....

If you have your children at an outdoor activity...and it is dark...mom will begin to get concerned if you don't call her and tell her you're just chatting with the guys and will be home soon. Moms worry about stuff like this. Darkness means children come home.

...can't reach DH and the kids aren't home. Ugh!!

Guess I'll pour myself a glass of wine to calm my nerves...

and just case someone out there is wondering....NO I don't drink each and every night. In fact, last time I had something was on Friday night.

but I'm gettin kinda nervous and can't reach DH on his cell.

Lessons like that at this point in his life can only help him. I applaud the band director for sticking to his rule even though your DS sounds like a star player on the team. Usually those kids are considered "untouchable" by the faculty. It's a hard lesson, but be thankful that he learned it now & not in college. Marcus Vick is unfortunantly a great example of someone who didn't learn their lesson early enough. :sad2:

I agree with Lisa.

It's a bummer that it happened but at this age it's a lot easier to deal with a blow like that.

And can I just add I'm SO NOT looking forward to my kids becoming teenagers.

OMG -- don't you have IKEAs in FL?

It's Swedish-based.......furniture, household items, room design, kids' furniture, linens, towels, plants (seasonally), lights, pictures, decorations, play room for the kiddos while Mom shops, great cafe with yummy-delicious Swedish meatballs (and other stuff) and possibly THE best chocolate bars on the planet.

I may have to go there this afternoon after writing all that! :lmao:

If you go to the one at White Marsh be sure to let us know. It doesn't take much of an excuse at all for us to go to Starbucks.

You are SO right Lisa ... I am glad the Band Director did stick to it ..Hopefully it is a hard lesson learned for Dylan ...He knows he let his Team mates down , His Bandmates , Coaches and of course us ...He went to school the following day and apologized to his whole team and coaches in front of everyone and also the band and director ...He said it was the hardest thing he had to do , trying to explain to his other team mates what he had done ....He also wrote his band director a 2 page letter just to say he was sorry and he would accept his punishment and would move forward from here in a positve light rather then take it negative ....

I know its hard for him ...but hopefully he will understand that its time to start making the commitments and sticking to them ....

:thumbsup2 Sounds like he did the right thing.

Hey, how cool is this: my oldest DS is still pictured on another website about Disney (can I post this here?).

If you go to: http://allearsnet.com/tp/mk/mk_merlin.htm, he's in the pictures for the-then Sword in the Stone ceremony! Seems like a million years ago!

Where has my little boy gone?! (He's now 10 1/2 and just rolls his eyes when I remind him of this.)

That was way cool!:thumbsup2

Tongue Piercing Caused Horrendous Pain

The disorder caused by the pain is sometimes called the 'suicide disease'.

Chicago, IL -- Her doctor says the teenager with "horrendous pain" in her face was lucky it went away, when she removed her tongue jewelry.

A nerve disorder sometimes called "suicide disease" because of its excruciating pain is among the latest complications linked to tongue piercing.

The complaint detailed in the Journal of the American Medical Association joins a list that includes tetanus, heart infections, brain abscess, chipped teeth and receding gums. One woman developed so much scar tissue it resembled what she called a "second tongue."

An Italian neurosurgeon who reported the nerve affliction says it's an "extremely rare complication." But the patient in the report, now 21, says her advice to people considering tongue piercing is, don't do it.

NASTY!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi all...
Heard a report on the radio about this (after shopping in the complex that includes IKEA) and had to share some of the info from a new Stanford study on internet addiction (or "problematic" internet use). Now, this wouldn't apply to anyone here, I'm sure.
13.7 percent found it hard to stay away from the Internet for several days at a time.
12.4 percent stayed online longer than intended very often or often.
12.3 percent had seen a need to cut back on Internet use at some point.
8.7 percent attempted to conceal non-essential Internet use from family, friends and employers.
8.2 percent used the Internet as a way to escape problems or relieve negative mood.

OOOOPS!

You are teaching both of your sons a great lesson by supporting this decision as well. You don't usually hear this from parents. Usually it is "my kid doesn't deserve this" or "it isn't fair." He sounds like a thoughtful and mature young man who will go far in life by accepting responsibility. :thumbsup2 He is also setting a great example for his peers.

I am proud of him ..no doubt ....but I am stressed cause he couldnt play and being a coach and a father I can tell you watching him from the stands this season has been great ...

This is the first year I havent coached cause Dylan schedule has been hectic , so its been hard to sit in the stands from a coaches perspective , but from a parents its been great know your kid just caught the pass, got the first down and scored ...lol

pirate:

Sitting with him in the stands watching the last couple games will not be easy, but it will be some of the most important moments for him.

OBVIOUSLY, I'd be in the FL camp....but which school?

My best and pretty much only GF. went to UM (MIAMI in FL) for Marine Bio and then went on to NYU for med school and is now a derm. I so wished she would have ended up in Busch Gardens or Sea World.
