CLASS PROJECT GONE WRONG
An elementary school class started a class project to make planters to take home to their parents.
They wanted to have a plant in it that was easy to take care of, so they decided to use cactus plants.
The students were given green-ware pottery planters in the shape of clowns which they painted with glaze.

The clown planters were professionally fired at a
Class outing so they could see the process.

It was great fun!
They planted cactus seeds in the finished planters
And they grew nicely, but unfortunately, the children were not allowed to take them home.

The cactus plants were removed and small ivy
Replaced them and the children were then allowed
To take them home instead.

The teacher said cactus seemed like a good idea
At the time!

Dead serious. DS will eat chicken nuggets & tenders, beef hotdogs, and pizza with cheese & pepperoni. That is basically it for main foods. For lunch he has a nutrigrain bar, pretzles, and fruit snacks. He wont eat cheese, bread, noodles, fruit, or vegies. The only fruit product he will touch is apple sauce on occasion. He does like biscuits & garlic toast. The only dairy he will eat is yogurt & that has dropped off considerably.

Your DS and my DD can go on a chicken nugget date... that's her main staple too... I hope she outgrows her pickiness eventually, but right now, it's all about chicken nuggets & french fries, top ramen, and white rice w/soy sauce, with an occasional waffle or pancake thrown in. Junk food works too, like cheetos and chips. She's skinny as a rail and muscular too, but I have no idea where her nutrients come from.... she hates any non-white based sauces (like tomato sauce, gravy based, etc)... no pizza, no spaghetti...

I'm concerned about what she's going to eat for lunch next year in Kindergarten... the preschool this year is really accomodating in getting her an alternate lunch if she doesn't like what's on the menu.

Speaking of a good hamburger....do we want to try to get a Five Guys mini-meet set up?

(I guess that wouldn't be keeping with the new Disney healthy line, though.) :rotfl:

When and where?

BRB Twenty Good Years just came on.

Not it! Mass. elementary school bans tag

ATTLEBORO, Mass. (AP) -- Tag, you're out! Officials at an elementary school south of Boston have banned kids from playing tag, touch football and any other unsupervised chase game during recess for fear they'll get hurt and hold the school liable.

Recess is "a time when accidents can happen," said Willett Elementary School Principal Gaylene Heppe, who approved the ban.

While there is no districtwide ban on contact sports during recess, local rules have been cropping up. Several school administrators around Attleboro, a city of about 45,000 residents, took aim at dodgeball a few years ago, saying it was exclusionary and dangerous.

Elementary schools in Cheyenne, Wyo., and Spokane, Wash., also recently banned tag during recess. A suburban Charleston, S.C., school outlawed all unsupervised contact sports.

"I think that it's unfortunate that kids' lives are micromanaged and there are social skills they'll never develop on their own," said Debbie Laferriere, who has two children at Willett, about 40 miles south of Boston. "Playing tag is just part of being a kid."

Another Willett parent, Celeste D'Elia, said her son feels safer because of the rule. "I've witnessed enough near collisions," she said.

I saw this on the news. :sad2: The one game that I think should be banned is dodge ball. I HATE HATE HATE the thought of anyone throwing a ball as hard as possible at one of my kids...or anyone else for that matter. You know that it is always the same kids throwing the ball. :(

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) -- The University of Wisconsin wants the Waukee school district to X out it's W symbol, leaving some students of the suburban Des Moines school district to ask Y.

for all of you who love those men and women in military attire... here is a squadron of bored Naval Aviators aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) and is one of the best "home produced" videos I've seen.

PS: That's the VAW-116 skipper dressed in the bathrobe.

Love it!!!! :thumbsup2

You are SO right Lisa ... I am glad the Band Director did stick to it ..Hopefully it is a hard lesson learned for Dylan ...He knows he let his Team mates down , His Bandmates , Coaches and of course us ...He went to school the following day and apologized to his whole team and coaches in front of everyone and also the band and director ...He said it was the hardest thing he had to do , trying to explain to his other team mates what he had done ....He also wrote his band director a 2 page letter just to say he was sorry and he would accept his punishment and would move forward from here in a positve light rather then take it negative ....

I know its hard for him ...but hopefully he will understand that its time to start making the commitments and sticking to them ....

Sounds like a fine young man there Captain!:thumbsup2

He eats fries sometimes but it's not like I am going to get after him to finish those.

Hi,
We are all set for the cruise on December 9th. It looks like I am a little late in joining this board, but I just wanted to say hi and looking so forward to the cruise! Joining me is my DH, DD (11), DS (10), DS (6), DS (4), and MIL. We can't wait!

:welcome:

Everyone may have already run you off but just in case I wanted to say Welcome to Our Crazy Group!

DS received his first phone call from a girl tonight. She asked him to meet her at the fall carnival next Friday at school. :) I didn't expect those calls to start for at least another year.
