DH again expressed his thoughts about going Saturday. He said he can't go Friday until very late, but that we could possibly just go early Saturday morning. He went to play backgammon with his friends for awhile, so I will try to "dissuade" him again! :rolleyes1

Really it is just that the girls are looking forward to spending the night somewhere and I did mention the pool...I also don't feel like another marathon drive. This is further than Baltimore!! :crazy:

Thanks...that is the approach I was thinking I should take. I would never be mean or rude...that is not how I am. I will treat her the same as always.

Our elementary school started something a few years ago. They now have a "Thursday folder." In it are all important papers. Of course if anything urgent pops up they send it home on any day, but most things are only on Thursday.

We do the same thing but on a Friday. I guess they figure you have all weekend to look at it and fill out anything important!

yes tell him that you'll be too tired if you go Saturday and that hotels are too expensive on sat night.

It's really not that much further than MD..... The slowest part of your trip will probably be in Jersey.

I was just thinking about something. DH complains if I am on the computer too much. Wants to know what is so important :rolleyes1

and how I can play games, etc so much. Well at least I am not on spending money like he does when he goes on his e-bay binges!!! :furious:

Of course he always says that they are for business, etc. :rolleyes:

Staying over Saturday isn't much of an option. We would then have to get up very early again and that is no fun. :guilty:

I can get out of New Jersey in a little more than an hour! Driving the other 3 hours will be in PA!!

Catching up (as if that's possible with this chatty group!)...

Mickey - prayers and positive thoughts going out to your family!

Pictures - our school does 2x/year.

Fundraisers -- we just turned in Entertainment books yesterday, book fair is going on right now, and fall festival (basket raffle, etc) is on Friday night.

Folders - we get once a week folders... I think on Monday... and then we get homework folders separately. They contain homework and notes from the teacher. My son's teacher is awesome -- she does a Monday newsletter with what she's teaching for the week, highlights the students that have improved or excelled in the last week, has a wish list up in case parents can donate items, and reminders for important dates, etc. I :love:

her because she has great communication skills and really understands children as individuals... unlike his 1st grade teacher last year!

I guess I will let you know exactly when we will get there after DH comes home and we talk about it. I want him to come, but his timeline is just not a good one. :sad2:

Well guys, I need to turn in too.

7:00 am school board meeting.

Then later in the day, the local news channel out of Cleveland wants to come and interview our Superintendent and I about school funding and what is wrong in our district.

We have a levy on the ballot again . . . Because of how our state does NOT fund schools we constantly have to go back to the taxpayers, who usually say no, and we spend time and effort putting it on the ballot for five or six times until they finally say yes.

Our district was rated excellent by the state last year, and we spend $1600 LESS per pupil than similar districts and less on administration than 97% of the school districts in Ohio, but our taxpayers (87% of whom do not have kids in school) will not vote for a levy even though we have not had a new levy since 1996!

If we do not pass, all art and music will be cut to minimums. We are already pay to play, and we will have to cut 28 more teachers. School funding in Ohio is really sad.

I could go on, and on, but I said I was going to bed.
