Loved Commander in Chief, very upset that it is gone. I liked all the Congress, Supreme Court and White House shows, anyone think I have an obsession? But I still have my Law and Order and CSI shows, so I am happy.

thank you Pj I couldn't think of the correct title of that show. Wasn't American President that movie with Michael Douglas and Annette Benning - :rotfl:

I need an informal poll here . . .

Most of you are parents or grandparents . . .

Some even teachers . . .

So what do you think a student dress code should include?

One of my school board members is upset because another boy in his son’s 2nd grade class has an earring. He feels that is inappropriate in school, and his kids should “not have to see that”.

You guys may already know me well enough to know what I think, but what do you think?

John1

John, DS will never be allowed to have an earring or long hair or any of those other rediculous trends that I have seen. However, I honestly do not believe that an earring is a great distraction in school....as long as it doesn't flicker and is bigger than his head. ;)

Carla, loved that movie too. I am such a sucker for anything set in D.C. I waited in the rain to get tickets to see the WH. I got to see socks during my tour.

Does anyone know the name of the show on Bravo where the designers were competing for their own design show and the last episode the audience voted. I liked that one when I remembered it was on and of course never remembered to vote. I wonder who won. I really liked the guy.

Cool Pj. I have never taken the White House tour - we wanted to go to DC this summer with DD. That and NYC are still on the list with her.

Current Netflix still haven't seen Friends with Money - I started it. Unfortunately my sisters iBook's drive is kaput so I can't watch in bed. I still have RV and I just got Ultraviolet. Of course all of these will be on On Demand before long and I'll just return them to Netflix.

Has anyone watched The Wire? DH loves that show. It's very intense. Well written. He also used to watch OZ. Another well written show but way to violent and intense for me.

OMG! I don't think I can take this guys voice any longer on LOST!

So should I book limo r/t from MCO to Residence Inn and then back to MCO post cruise or should I rent a car?

Thanks for the advice. We probably eat beef at least twice a week so I think it would certainly save us some money.
If that is the case...go for it!

Well, I've got a little surprise for some of you here today . . .

(concerning earrings)

This is a link to a neighboring school district's handbook - with the dress code beginning on page 13.

http://www.les.sparcc.org/Student_Hndbk_Elem.pdf

This is the code that our other member wants us to pattern ours on.

Comments?

John1

Good grief!!! That is more than a bit excessive. I am wondering what kind of problems they had to make them put those codes into place. :confused3 They even tell the girls the maximum length of their hair? Sorry but if they keep it neat looking, it is none of the school's business how long their hair is.

aahh so they are saying what is good for the goose is not necessarily good for the gander.....
Yes!!! That bothers me! I will allow my daughter to get her ears pierced...when she is old enough to beg! My son will not be allowed to get his pierced. Call me what you want...maybe in some ways I am a bit old fashioned. I seriously do not care what other people do with their children in this regard, that is their family and personal business. I am just not a fan myself. Anyway....if I want to treat my goose and gander differently that is my right...but I don't want others (their school) to do that!!!! I hope I didn't open a can of worms with this remark...it is just my opinion. :stir:

It is kind of creepy. I missed most of the second half of the season, so all the rest from now is new to me, lol.

Ok, now that's just stupid. Yes I used a bad word. Stupid.
My son said that yesterday for the first time...right after getting home from preschool!!!!! AAAHHHH!!!! He is picking up stuff already...and he is only in a 3 year old preschool class!!!!

She understands, she doesn't LIKE it. HMMMMM, neither do I. Leave that girl alone! :grouphug:
I am not a yeller. I am also not a NO crazy mom. I save it for danger things...like her trying to climb the oven and pulling on cords. She does things my son never did!!! She is a tiny vaccuum...she finds everything and tries to eat it!!!

This is K-12.

This is a neighboring district that is very conservative, and not very diverse. Just a few years ago a school board member there wanted "Of Mice and Men" and "Catcher in the Rye" banned from the school and the school library.

What does that tell you?

John1

Those are some very dillusional parents trying to hide everything from their children. They are going to wake up one day with kids who are sneaking out of the house and doing everything that their parents were afraid of. :sad2:

It is not necessarily a fear of gays; that era is pretty much gone isn't it?
Honestly...not where I live. I do not think that era is anywhere near over in my area. I lived out of the area for a while and went to college. In many areas it is not a problem. But I think there are still many areas where this is a problem.

Excuse me... what exactly does that mean, "people like that". That is one thing I hate to hear.
Anyone different than him.
