Cool V!

John2 looks pretty hyped up to go swimming!

Meanwhile, here, it will be in the 40's tonight, and soon the frost will be on the pumpkin!

I was thinking the same thing!!!! DH and I just discussed the fact that we will soon be stoking the coal fire!

Hey . . .

I don't see any pineapples in those pictures!

Just interviewed a lady today who moved here from FL . . .

She said after 30+ years of hurricanes and too HOT, she decided to come to Ohio. She has never seen snow.

Just wait. Poor girl. If we have a typical winter, she may hightail it back to FL.

John1

we had to get rid of two --- TWO FICUS trees as well as a HUGE PALM tree (don't ya'll remember J cut it down and scared us all?) as well as many many pineapples and one of my fav's frangipani - or plumeria's. Luckily my orchids are in pots or hanging baskets and could be moved. The rest of our yard is a landscape disaster. We had a new septic tank so anything we had in pots had to be drug over and stationed on top so that no trucks would run over the area crushing it. It's a mess!! I will take pics of the pineapples and frangi's tomorrow. The frangi's are so gorgeous right now and Samantha's class is "planting" a pineapple so it will be good for her to take one in!

I'm off to start some dinner for DrHug. He should be home around 7 tonight - unless he stops by Guitar Center on the way home. :sad2: He told me this afternoon that there is really just ONE more guitar he NEEDS! ;) OY! :rolleyes1 Of course, if he were to get this one more (Les Paul Gibson something or other) then he could sell several of his others.

I understand how he feels about guitars. Ever since I ws a young teenage I have dreamed of owning a Gretsch Country Gentleman.

V - your pool looks awesome!

Kim - my DH told me the same thing when I said that I want a pool! He is right...it isn't worth it for the litte we would get to use it!

My rule is no heat until Nov 1.....

But it seems that we've gone from A/C to needing it though. (we were in the upper 30's early this morning.)

John - what has Amy been up to? Is it my imagination or has she been scarce lately?

OK for anyone else who tried to follow 6D....was the guy the blonde was watching on TV as a reporter who I think she believes was killed in the war the same guy with the camera who took her picture & got the new job?

No, that was her husband, he was a reporter who was killed, the reason she needed the nanny and is why she needs to get a job.

I love the heat. Not the humidity, but we really have no winter here. Central Fl gets much colder than the Gulf.

I have all these great jaclets for the girls and they have never been worn!

OK, I was thinking about this too . . .

Just trying to decide if I wanted to use the Scrapbook software (downloaded a demo, but it is not real intuitive) or use something else.

John1

There are many programs that can do pages. Word and Publisher from Microsoft and even Word Perfect which is more of a desk top publishing program than Word.

Our A/C is still in the window...but that will come out soon!

As for the heat...I always say Halloween...but it comes on mid October. When it was just DH and I we used electric heat and only heated half of the house. With the kids we need to heat all of the rooms and bathrooms. Electric was too expensive. I live in the coal region...so coal makes sense. It is really a warm heat. It also heats our whole basement...which is refinished...so we get to use our whole house all year...not just when it is nice outside!

OK, I just thought that maybe he disappeared on purpose & was trying to make a new life for himself...you know like a tv show. ;)

Tomorrow is Blue Mountain's first home football game. I NEED to see the band!!!!! I just hope that it isn't too cold for Eliza. Although, Jake is my cold baby!!!!! He is always cold! If it drops to 75 on an 85 degree day he is "freezing." Funny kid...anyway....I hope to get the the FBall game tomorrow!

Hate to say it Kim, but tomorrow will be no better - and perhaps worse. I have to give layoff notices to several more employees. You may recall that we had already laid off 16 employees. With the ones tomorrow it will be 34. Add to that I have been fighting (they call it negotiating) with the union over the order and priority of the layoffs - a fight that I mostly did not win - and it has not been very much fun for me.

And Saturday? Our owner wants to meet with me to discuss how we are planning to move people around so that we are not in trouble over the holidays. Another 6 day week.

Can my ship leave this Saturday? :sad2:

John1

John, more layoffs? My soul is sad for you. We fired a full time programmer today, but it was because of incompetence. So while, I feel badly, necessary evil. Layoffs are just sad. There is always expanding to Utah?

Do you think 6 degrees will be like "Lost?" Millions of loose ends?

I think I should call in sick tomorrow and break in the pool!
Sounds like a good idea! If I were closer...I would help you break it in too!!!!

John I don't envy you at all. Hopefully when one door closes another opens...

Yeah, a trap door!

It is bad to have to fire someone. But it is also bad for your other employees to have to deal with an incompetent colleague! It is is a necessary evil...there are some people who have a hard time firing employees...but it is bad for others to have someone who needs to be fired around! It also is a wake up call for your other workers.
