Did I tell you guys about the Grand Opening of the LLBean store? I drop DD off and figure if there is no traffic going South I'll jump on the highway pop over wait in line get my little wristband for a gift card (potential to win a $500 one). So I drive over there, I used to work in that area so I go the back way especially because I notice a lot of traffic up ahead by the real exit. WELL, the place was JAMMED. The line was from the front of the store down multiple sidewalks almost to the opposite end. I was amazed! So, I turned around and left and as I left I saw the highway was backed up to the previous exit on both sides. Unreal. I thought I was at an Apple Store opening.

It's also going to be open for 24hrs/day all weekend like the Freeport store so that should be interesting. Too bad it wasn't during the time of booking Palo because that is how I would have killed time!

I LOVE THAT STORE! I order online all the time. I don't even need to try clothes on anymore. LL Bean and Lauren by Ralph Lauren. Don't even bother taking it off the hanger :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

We're still planning to go to Sesame Place on Sunday. Anyone close wnt to come?? :teeth: My sister, her DIL, my niece and their little ones will be coming with us. They won't think it is "strange internet people" if anyone else were to come. :lmao: :lmao:

Forecast says sunny and high of 82, and that is here at the shore, so maybe hotter there!?!?! It will be nice if we can get a last dip in the water. We are also looking to go at least one more time when they have their Halloween things going on.

i wish we could come! have fun!

one of the hardest things about hubby being a redhead is shopping for him. There is a whole color palette that just isn't available to him. It narrows the spectrum a lot and he has lots of casual and business clothes that go together well - LOL.

My DH used to have red hair. It is more white with auburn highlights at this point. We did not own a red shirt for him for the longest time. We live in Cincinnati with the Reds as our home team. I always made sure to get him a grey shirt. DS is strawberry blonde. He doesn't look bad in reds and maroons. But I still tend to avoid them. DH really doesn't look bad in red now but he still tends to avoid it.

DD enjoyed her first soccer practice today. After screaming that she didn't want to go I told her point blank that if she wants to play in the game on Saturday she had to go to the practice so that she knew who her coach was & who is on her team. She LOVED it!!! :)

Great to hear!! :thumbsup2

Karen - thanks for the advice about the PTA - it's all new to me but I did notice the same 5 or 6 names on every committee list. People just need to know how little time they really need to contribute to make a difference. It's too bad they don't take the trouble to find out.

good luck with your event tomorrow. Now I know who I cant contact about PTA woes!! LOL.

I remember when I first joined the PTA. They asked for help, but when it came down to it, a certain few always did everything, and it wasn't because no one volunteered. :confused3 I have always manned the bookfairs and helped when the fundraiser stuff came in, but it seems anything else is for the select few to do. I actually didn't attend one meeting last year because I became too busy with everything else. The best thing about the meetings were the guests.

Oh I had to share one more thing DD said. She was discussing playing during recess and the girls playing together with just the girls and the boys playing together - just boys.

"I play with both. The boys think I think like a boy because I mention racecars but they don't know that I am imagining princesses driving them and with the girls there is a monster in the castle I'm describing. I don't tell them though..."

Too cute!

I had to sit both kids down and tell them that if anyone ever does that to them they can leave the group & come tell me if the coach isn't responding to them. They do NOT have to put up with being hit on.

Well put Lisa. This will do well for them now and in the future to remember this.

The counselor we talked to today was very in favor of CC first. Looks like DGS will have half a year of college completed when he graduates HS, then one summer and one year in CC he should be able to get his AA. Then he will transfer to University. This counselor said some counselors think that the whole "college experience" is important. i.e. living on their own, socializing in dorms, etc. I am not sure that most 18 year olds are ready for all that responsibility and have seen many bright kids come home after flunking one or two semesters due to too much partying. Just depends on the kid I am sure. DGS thinks CC first sounds like his best plan. We did enjoy talking with his counselor though.

I think the Universities may be getting a bit scared that more and more are doing this. The only real reason to start at the University is if you are going for something BIG and want to be in a top notch one where credits are harder to transfer.

And I think you are right Angie, many are not ready to deal with everything else that goes with it. Maybe that was my problem....

Not caught up but I am going to bed. Good night.

The laundry is going (since I forgot to put the wash in the dryer during chat last night & the kids need their soccer socks, the pasta salad for the party is cooking, and the kids are eating their pancakes.....so far so good even though being up and active this time on a Saturday morning should be against my religion. :rotfl:

So how long were you guys in chat? Should I check my email for any warnings? Is that why noone has posted yet this morning? :lmao:

hi Lis a- it's always fun to see who is the first to post oin the morning. Have fun at the soccer matches today!! We play tomorrow and have pics done too.

I am not saying this to anyone on this boards so please don't be offended!

What I have found with our PTO here is that is a few doing the work but the reason for that is that they want to control everything. Even when trying to get involved you still have to do what they want and do it their way and if you don't they will do it again so it's better to just let them do it to begin with!

I even fround this in HS with the choir. I wanted to get involved in the parents organization for DS choir and found it so frustrating that every time the newer parents tried to do something we were shot down by the way it was always done. Again better to just let them do it.

Wow, we really do have a great PTO compared to some. Not perfect, of course. I found small ways to get involved when DD13 started kindergarten (and DD8 was 5 months old!) and we had just moved to PA from VA, so I didn't already know people.
We just had the first meeting, and they were looking for committee chairs. You can only chair an event for 2 years, so no one takes over anything forever.
Of course, there are times when we are begging for volunteers, and only the "regulars" are working. Our school carnival really works best if every family takes one shift at a something (game/food booth/setup/cleanup). Only 45 minutes, but we hear from people all the time saying that they want to spend the carnival with their kids, not volunteering... yeah, and why are the rest of us working?!!

Goodmorning everyone ...Had fun in chat last night ...Had a bad dream , I was streaking on deck 10 and ran into Mickey Mouse .... :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao:

No streaking for me , its affecting my brain ....
