becka said:Nothing packed yet but I have bought some things for the cruise that I need to put in my box. I usually have a big trip box (or cruise box in this case) in our bedroom that I just throw things in as I buy them, find them, etc.. then I use it when I start physically packing the suitcases about 2 weeks out.

we had a similar situation when kendell was 2...long story short - 3 visits to the dr in 6 days (and I am not one to go to the dr!) - ended up in the hospital for 10 days with pneumonia and had surgery to boot!!lbgraves said:I never go by how the kids are acting because mine seem to be fine but are still sick. Once after DD was 4 & was diagnosed with strep she continued to have a fever & a croupy cough. I took her to the urgent care center on a Sunday afternoon to be checked out. This was during the big flu outbreak two years ago. We waited for 1 1/2 hours and she was smiling & skipping around like nothing was wrong. I was getting very frustrated & would have taken her home if it wasn't for the terrible coughing that she did at night like she was going to choke.I waited it out. The PA came in & checked her and became concerned very quickly. DD ended up having chest xrays done and they couldn't get a good oxygen count on her finger. They called in her regular pediatrician. He came in & was also concerned. She had influencial pneumonia. The stupid doctor that we had seen on Thursday at their office stopped checking her out once the strep test came back. Her doctor was livid when he found out that she hadn't been tested for the flu with the symptoms that I told them and the fact that is was so bad right then. We were there almost two hours after they closed the center. He was monitoring her and trying to treat her. She came very close to being admitted to the hospital that night. The bad thing about leaving that late is that no pharmacies were open to fill the RX for cough meds for her to sleep (and me too). I sat up with her after calling every pharmacy for 30 miles from here. Ours has an after hours number but that was the night the operator didn't staff it. OY BOY! I went in the next day to ask whay I had done wrong & the head pharmacist was very upset! Apparently we weren't the only people needing an Rx that night. I now have his home number.
