Little to no sun today so to cold to swim..... bummer cause tomorrow is the last day our pool is open this season.

DDog needs some food so maybe i'll take her for a ride to the pet store.

This is a serious question - what do you guys do when you hit the 40 sec rule? Do you count in your head? Do you just keep hitting post? Do you occupy yourself with something else for a little while and try again?

I keep hitting submit until it goes through. :badpc:

Did taking our DD to a therapist help? Did you already know what was wrong before you went? I think you are right about anxiety, I just can't figure out which one? No overstepping here. I have no idea with this problem so there is no way to overstep.... I think DH understands it better than I do so I am always asking him, but lying about a corndog???

thanks for telling me your story!

Kim

DD did seem to improve after some therapy. She went to about 5 or 6 sessions. I personally wasn't too fond of the therapist though, at first the therapist was convinced that DD had an eating disorder. I was the one who did research and found out about the emetophobia and had to tell the therapist what I'd discovered. My DD fits the description of an Emetophobe to a tee! That's when the therapist was able to realize the not eating was from her fears and anxiety and not from wanting to be skinny to fit in.

This all started about 2 years ago and she has improved so much. The therapist did teach her techniques to help her through anxiety attacks and DD did start to eat again.

Another thing, at this age kids don't understand what anxiety is so it's really hard to figure out this is the problem, asking a kid "Are you stressed? Are you anxious?" doesn't always work because they don't really understand what anxiety is. When my DD started showing symptoms of something wrong it was scary because I didn't even think a 10 year old could have anything to cause anxiety attacks. Your DD may be lying because she has no idea how to explain why she's not eating, she may not even know herself. Watch her closely at mealtimes, does she look scared when you put a plate in front of her? Does she pick at her food, etc? These are all things I noticed with my DD at first.

Also, maybe it's not necessarily about food or eating, is she self conscious? I have social anxiety and eating around people is a stressful thing for me. I feel as though people are watching me and I get very uncomfortable eating around people. I can't even handle it if DH is looking at me when I am eating. She may just be experiencing something similar to this and eating at school may be stressful to her in that respect.

Thanks Goofyforlife. Ah, if only I could be that fast. :) Alas, you can't just fill a prescription anymore. There are more and more issues, steps, restrictions, regulations, and insurance crap to deal with. :stir: :surfweb:

Oh, we went through Frederick on our way to Gettysburg a few years ago. We didn't get to stop for long however,or we would have stopped by. ;)

Hey all - just spent a few hours trying to catch up :surfweb: - good thing some people are on vacation, or I'd never catch up. We're adopting a friends cat, or trying to, so that's why I've been gone. It's a 4 year old male cat that my son's friend's mother gave us (much to the little girl's sadness!!). I don't know if it's going to work out, though, as the cat has spent all of it's daylight hours under our bed. Only at night is he sociable - and we're trying to sleep!! We'll give it another day or 2. I was a little surprised because he is mostly an outdoor cat, so I don't know why she wanted to give him away since her daughter is so upset about it. He's very sweet and wants to be petted a lot, but from underneath the bed - OY!! :confused3

In fact, it is cold and rainy so for the first time in a very long time I don't have any plans on a Friday night and I just may sit here and chat, desing T shirts, door signs and buttons....what a great Friday night. I might not even stop to make my family dinner!
what are you using to design shirts? I'd like to do that for our group. I saw a Mickey in a life preserver that was really cute...have to try and find it again. I thought it would make a cute sign for Welcome Aboard XX Family! :artist: I'm so NOT creative, though, so it is hard for me!!

Does anyone else think how funny our airport security has become. Don't get me wrong - I'm glad that Lisa got on board, but come on - ya can't bring a bottle of water or makeup, but you can get on without your ID. I bet Lisa knows someone at security. What do ya think>?
I bet she gave them 'the LOOK' :lmao:

Karen did you get your bands yet?
Kim - I forgot to tell you - our bands came - thanks so much! they are awesome! :thumbsup2

PJ - sorry you lost things from your computer!! :badpc:

welcome/welcome back everyone!

I'm so glad football has started!! HS game-rained out, JMU game - we went to that last night - it was ugly, but somehow they pulled out a win! They've got a lot of block and tackle drills that need running before next week!

I've tried to cook crock pot meals, but they never some out - my crock runs too hot, even on Low.

MUM...you said you had to RUM to your mothers - :lmao:

I didn't do great this week but I am not going to turn in a result for the challenge because I am PMS-y and with all the fluid retention, etc.. I am convinced I can't get an official weigh-in today anyway.
Me too Becka - that's why I'm not jeeping with everyone else today :sad2: - well, and the weird-o cat - didn't want him alone all afternoon, and then evening - we're going to a cookout tonight.

Great Smilies, Becka (loved the jeep one)!!! :thumbsup2 (and Kim - loved the phone and treadmill ones!)

Well, I found out on Friday that my eyes have gotten worse in two years. Before our 2004 cruise I got bifocals (the blended kind) when I started to have trouble reading. I made the mistake of taking them with me. I never put them on ONCE on the whole vacation (no time to read) and when we got home they were missing. They were only a 1.0 prescription, but I had gotten used to them. Since I paid $200 after insurance, I was too cheap to get new ones - I liked the ones I had so much.

I now ordered new ones and my prescription is now up to 1.5. My distance vision is almost 20/20, but reading without glasses is getting harder and harder. I did buy a cheap set of "cheaters" just for reading the last two years.

Getting old does have it's drawbacks . . .

John1
I'm right there with ya John - in the last few months, I've noticed a change in my reading distances - well, it's been about 8 months now. I bought some cheapie reading glasses. I went to the eye doctor 2.5 yrs ago - he said I didnt' need to come back for 2-3 years, guess he was right, and I'm due! UGH!!

:lmao: my post was too long!! :rotfl2:
had to cut/paste part of it into a 2nd (AND 3RD) post!!

BB tapings - last Thur show - delayed on one channel, played on another - LUCKILY, I noticed this and he the tivo tape them both - BECAUSE - the delayed one didn't not tape it all - since it was after a football game, the game must've run over and the show started late, so only about 1/2 of it taped - thankfully, I'd also recorded it on the other channel and was able to watch both....SO...for tomorrow night's (same delayed showing situation), I've adjusted the tape time for an extra couple of hours in case there is another delay, I won't miss part of the show. I also read somewhere that next Thur show is preempted for a 9/11 rerun?? Anywone know about this? Maybe it was just for a certain area - I'll have to check my tivo listings.

I'm so glad I have little boys and do not have to buy clothes for little girls! :rotfl2:

Add me to the list of 'coke' drinkers - all soft drinks are 'coke' :teeth:
(think that calling it 'pop' is extremely weird - no offense intended)

Montana - such a beautiful area - I worked at Glacier National Park the summer after I graduated from college - I just LOVED it! (until I had to leave early after the bear attack)

Our cousins from New Orleans used to argue with us when they came to visit Tennessee about who had the strongest accents!!

:lmao:

Never heard that one but I can only spell Mississippi because of a song.

"M I crooked letter crooked letter I crooked letter crooked letter I humpback humpback I"

:lmao:
Becka - I was trying to remember that, but was thinking it was for Tennessee, and couldn't remember what the word was for 'e' LOL - where's that blonde moment smilie??? :lmao:

Am I the only one noticing all the LIME GREEN clothing in the stores and on people these days?? Even accessories and stuff in lime green! :)

All caught up now!! Have a great day everyone!! Will be going to the cookout in about an hour.

BYE

Plus, people, in my opinion of course, are on way too many medications now.
:confused3

Oh, and for those with little girls who "aren't eating right", NEVER let a Dr, PA, or NP put them on an antipsychotic medication just to stimulate their appetite. Namely Zyprexa (and others). Grrrr :furious: I have seen that happen, and those drugs are contraindicated in Children...PERIOD. I have seen it happen though, sadly enough. Whoops. Don't get me started....... :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes I don't need to be triigered.. :teeth: :teeth: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
