That is so funny! Down south in California it is "go to the beach" and here in Orygun it is "go to the coast." Took us a while to get used to using the "proper" term when we moved here. "Pop" and "Soda" are another. In Calif. we "went to get a Coke", regardless of what type soda we were getting. Here everyone gets a"pop".
And the funniest thing when we first moved here with our then 15YO DD. She asked some of her new friends if they wanted to "go to the liquor store".

They were "WHAT?"

Here a liquor store is just that, state run and only sells liquor, no minors allowed. In CA the "liquor store" was the corner market where they sold liquor, plus candy, "coke" (pop), milk, cookies, etc. The kids would stop in on the way home from school for a snack.

I can only imagine what they thought when she asked that.

No wonder Californians have a bad reputation up here.
