JOhn - is that somethign we can fix?

We had all new breakers/meter, etc put in...now its a digital meter.

Ruh Roh . . .

Is John2 mechanically or electrically inclined?

Walk outside and see if the air conditioning unit (usually sitting on a concrete pad) is running - there is probably a fan on top, which should be running, and it should be making some noise.

If all is quiet, you need to see if it has power going to it. Go to your main breaker (or fuse) box, and see if you can find the one labled for the air conditioner. If none are labled you should be able to tell that one of the switches is in a different position than the rest - offset just a little. You need to flip that switch off - then back to the ON positon - same position as the rest of the switches. This is assuming that the problem is there. Many AC units also have an outside on/off lever switch. There should be a box on the side of the house where the power for the AC comes from the house to the AC unit. Check to make sure that it is also in the ON position.

This is just a guess V - but an educated one. They may have blown the breaker when power came back on, or may have turned off main power to the AC forgetting to turn it back on when re-powering.

Oh well I will just ask them again. DD & I have long semi formal gowns for formal night. DH & DS are thinking of just wearing white shirts, ties and dark pants. Are they dressed formally enough for the evening? DD gown is much more formal than mine but I just had to splurge on it.
Dress shirt and ties will have them dressed as formally as many others on the Magic. Though it looks like many on this thread are going all out with tuxes.
I myself will be in a tux

I'm getting to the serious moisturizer stage in my life - lol. after a summer in the sun I really need it.

I heard Madonna is complaining about how old her hands look and ordered tons of fancy gloves to cover them up. mine are getting pretty sun damaged too.

where do you order Elemis from? there are some advantages to living in the boonies - we don't have any fancy products. I love going to L'Occitane at the Orlando airport.

elaine

I love L'Occ. I order it online all the time. I went to the store at the airport the last time we were there!! LOVE IT! Lavender is my favorite!!

I hope that works for you Vanessa! I used DH's car today. It has AC and the van only blows hot air. :( It was 105 this afternoon. I was NOT going to sit in an oven then expect the kids to get in it.

Do you guys listen to country music?

I used to absolutely HATE CW music, now some of it has grown on me in my old age - esp these types of songs like what Brandi is talking about since I now have a daughter - they always play that one about "butterfly kisses" at weddings around here . . .

I always think those songs should end with something like . . .

And if you ever break her heart
I will hunt you down like Osama Bin Laden
And then I will tear you apart
Until even the memory of you is forgotten

I think "DIS Veteran" is the next promotion - that is what I was, but I also changed mine a couple of weeks ago to "DIS Geek".

The above does NOT work for a car - my guess for you Lisa is that you either have a blown compressor in the car, or it needs it's freon recharged.

Although, Click and Clack I'm not . . .

Ok J1...J2 is outside....with a flashlight, I am in the freezer with a bucket of ice cream....this is too damn hot!

The unit outside is not RUNNING....the fan in the house is so it obviously is the outside unit. I guess we are stuck for the night.....bummer!! thanks for the tips....DH is pretty much in the doghouse though....he should have been here when they were doing the electric today....he needs a safehouse....

Be my guest - not original, but fitting . . .

I am from Polk County....so county music is a staple although going to a performing arts high school for dance helped grow my appreciation for all music....I truly really love all music....:)

Oh we know what is wrong with the car. The compressor has a leak I believe. It will cost over $600 to replace or DH just has to refill the freon. He hasn't filled that since last year since he hasn't been here this summer with the heat. I just used the Explorer on the really bad days but he has that now. I have strongly suggested that he fill it up but will have to make sure I drive the point home next week. :thumbsup2

OMG - my girls are all sweaty....:( we opened the windows...DH better get this fixed before I get home tomorrow or the girls and I are going to a hotel.....we've gone 7 days with NO electric due to storms and the air is always the most unbearable with our humidity.
