As for the talk about MILs....
Mine lives in Egypt and doesn't speak English! She could absolutely loathe me and I wouldn't have a clue, but that isn't the case. The first time I met her, DD was 6 moths old and just off of oxygen (she was 13 weeks early).
She did try to nag a bit as they are very overprotective and overindulgent with their kids. It was Sept. and very hot so DD was mostly in a onsie in the house. No air either. Well, if the balcony door was open she would run over and shut it because she thought DD would catch something from the little bit of breeze being in a onsie!
DD was one who had to cry herself to sleep. Now mind you she would cry or LESS than a minute, but it drove dear MIL crazy the first few nights. She would pase outside the door and sare at me the whole 30 secs or so.

It took her about 3 nights before she learned.
The worst that trip was the honey. They love to give kids honey. I am not one to stick with every whim doctors come up with, but I was not letting anyone give my premature 6 mo old honey while in a foreign country! KWIM??
We did leave DD there for a week with them while we went on a mini vacation down the Nile, so she could have slipped her some then.
All in all, she seems like a great MIL, if we could communicate! She knows what I like and don't like and is very accomidating, almost too much. Eapecially with the kids! I haven't been there for a few years and I do miss them. Keeping fingers crossed that we are able to make our trip next year!!!
