 Patsy!

Thanks for stopping by. We will be in your neck of the woods later this year. We are planning a day trip to the Georgia Aquarium the Saturday after Thanksgiving and will be spending 2 nights in Atlanta. We are stopping on our way to WDW just to see the aquarium. I hope it is as fun as it sounds. :)

Hey guys! I'm briefly checking in to celebrate less than a year to my spring break cruise next year. The meets thread for that one is going nowhere so far.

Although, The only member on that thread is from Atlanta.

We had a quiet Easter this year. My parents came up from South GA for some shopping last week and all the family got together for dinner on Saturday. Sunday DD, DH and I went to the EARLY service at church. Then back home. DD is getting old enough now that the Easter Bunny is letting DH and I do more and more of the shopping so he can concentrate on the little kids.

DD got new in line skates for Easter this year and a chocolate bunny.

Now cover the eyes of all the little ones in the group. We have finally confessed that the easter bunny is actually a PR front for the Easter Vulture. You see, The Easter Vulture is very generous, loving, giving and enjoys children but vultures get bad press. So, he uses a bunny as his front to be more engaging to children. DD took it pretty well. Go figure.

:wave2: Hi Patsy!

Missed you around here!

You can see we haven't given up the ghost here yet!

I am glad you are all still together and planning many adventures and cruises together and separately.

As I said our next cruise is Spring Break '08. Keeping DD out of school for a week was too stressful for us last year.

This summer we are planning a trip to Philly to see the King Tut Exhibit with a stopover in DC. I have been to both cities on business but never as a tourist so I am really looking forward to it.

Take Care!

PS
Congratulations on your new title Captn SpanX!

That's Captain "John" Spanx - the NEW CJS!

AND now unofficial leader of the DIS Lost Beer Boys!

Becka,
Where are you staying?

Becka,
Yay! what is bringing you to GA? It must be the georgeous weather! :beach:

Your weather can't be any worse than ours! :) We have been in the teens the last few nights. Our Easter egg hunt had to take place inside the living room. :rotfl:

We just really wanted to go to the Aquarium some day and when we looked at the timing it just looked right. We didn't want to get to WDW until Sunday so that gave us an extra day. Atlanta is right on the way and we think all of us will enjoy the aquarium - especially DS. :) I am really excited about it.

Becka,

We don't know yet. We will be coming in from Little Rock after having Thanksgiving with my family. I asked on the CB for recommendations on the South or West sides of Atlanta but I figured out it sounds like a bad place to stay. We have heard good things about Marietta. There are of course lots of places downtown near the Aquarium but they are $$$$. If you have any good hotel suggestions I would love to hear them. All we really want is clean, safe and fairly easy access to I-75 and the Aquarium.

OK Becka
Here's the thing. None of the Atlanta'ns (Including me) like the new Aquarium very much. It's poorly designed and crowded. You have to be over 6 feet tall to see anything. There is no traffic flow. Parking is a nightmare.

If it were mine to choose. I'd stop in Chattanooga and see their Aquarium. It's great. :yay: Most folks here who have seen both prefer Chattanooga. If you run out of things to do at their Aquarium there are other attractions in the area that are great for kids. And don't forget to pickup a "See Rock City" Birdhouse.

Personally I'd find it chilly in Chattanooga in November but you'll probably find it balmy.
:rolleyes1

Let us know when you are coming to DC,... Maybe if we're free, i can meet you someplace.

Thanks Patsy! I appreciate the info. I had only visited their main website and I thought we would be able to spend almost a full day there. I did a quick google search and found lots of really bad reviews with most of them saying you see everything in maybe 2 hours time and echoing some of your complaints. :( I have to stay I am really disappointed. I thought the GA Aquarium was along the lines of the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago, etc.. Maybe we would be better off trying to get to Orlando early and doing Seaworld or just spending the extra day with family. Two extra nights hotel, admission, etc.. is really going to add up and it almost doesn't sound like it will be worth it. :confused3

Becka,
I'm sorry to be the one to bring the bad news. I really love my State but the Aquarium is a flop. And yeah, We were tired of it after about 2 or 3 hours too.
Patsy

Anywho. I'm off work now and logging off. Catch ya later.

Don't worry about it. I would much rather find out now rather than after we spent $400 to go there and/or after I did more research this Fall and had to change plans toward the last minute.

Thanks! :)

Lisa - poor William, hope is doing better and you both were able to get some sleep today.

Tonight I am going to read and relax and try to get to bed early. I know Haley will snuggle with me on the couch but doubt Samantha will. I jusk feel icky...not a full on cold but it's coming. I am popping the Vitamin C so much I may turn into one!

Hope everyone is having a great Monday.....

Shhhhhhhhhhhhh!

I don't even know if I am legal (I got rid of my OSU flag)!

I thought it was cool, but Peter still needs a mustache, and if you can be a champagne girl, why can't I be the leader of the "lost beer boys"?

LOL! Yes, you are legal, John. Certifiable even maybe..... :lmao:

I ended up going back to sleep around 9 and waking up at 12...just after William woke up. We have taken it easy today. After lunch we went to the pharmacy to get his meds & then hit WM to pick up new sneakers for him, rechargable batteries for the walkie talkies he uses around the neighborhood now, ice cream, and....as a special treat for what he went thru last night & is dealing with for the next few days...a GBA star wars lego game that he has been wanting to buy.

OH MY GOODNESS!!! What a night. :( I didn't get to bed until 1:30...and it wasn't because I was DISing. I was at the ER with William from 6:50 until 1:10 am. We went to a birthday party yesterday afternoon & the kids were outside playing on the trampoline. He is use to them & knows the rules. Well, he was getting down because I told them we were going home and his foot slipped on the stepstool making him fall headfirst to the ground. He of course put his hands out to protect himself and his right hand took the impact. He came in crying and the palm of his hand was bleeding from what looked like a puncture. The kids showed the dad where he had fallen and he found a pine tree twig that probably caused it...since he also had a couple of splinters in the palm of his hand as well. I rushed home to drop off Kaitlyn and have the nurse next door look at it to see if a trip to urgent care was justified or overreacting on my part. She said that it looked like it was starting to swell from something being inside the skin so off we went...only to find it closed early for Easter. A quick call to the ped on call had us going to the ER to get it checked out...where we waited a very long time. It was an hour inbetween everything...having his name called for triage & registration, 80 minutes before being called back to sit on a bed in the hallway to wait another 70 minutes to have the doctor check him out, then an xray, then meds, then move to a room. It was after midnight before the doctor came in to treat it. It took longer for the meds to numb his hand...the poor kid had the needle poked in his hand many times to get that done. :( :( :( Good thing though because they had to hold him down just because he saw what the doctor was going to use to cut his hand open to get the stick out. I worked on keeping his eyes covered the rest of the time and he was in good spirits soon after that was done. The doctor was really good with him so that helped a lot. We hadn't had dinner so I told him that he could have anything he wanted when we left. After picking up a milkshake at McD's we finally got home.

DD just went to school...not at all happy about the fact that her brother is still in bed sleeping. I am going to try to go back to sleep too before he wakes up & needs more painkillers. He has a splint since they have to treat it as a sprain due to where it happened. He is concerned about not being able to write or play his gameboy. ;) I'll check in some time today.

aaah Lisa! Please give William our love and tell him we are sure he will be back in full gaming mode soon! I am so sorry!
