Happy Easter To All of My Geek Friends!!!:)

The Easter bunny has made his annual visit. Since it is going to be in the teens tonight and tomorrow morning he left the eggs for the hunt inside the house where it is much warmer. I do have to say that Easter is just not the same without any candy. Neither of the kids is getting candy just little things that fit in the eggs like stickers and other junky party favor type stuff. They will have fun with it I am sure but I miss the chocolate. We did get them a kite and a book each so at least they have something that will last longer than an hour. ;)

I posted this on "the other thread::

John1, DrHug got the "A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes" photo printed. We just need to go get a frame for it. He also ordered horns today that he thinks he can put the DCL horn on. The MH is almost set to come to Ohio! Listen for those horns in your driveway. :lmao:

GREAT!

Hope that everyone is having a great Easter! :goodvibes It has been quiet here. The kids were both good in Church and are now enjoying their baskets. Here are our annual Easter pics taken before we left for Church. I am glad that we didn't wait until after because DS got overheated and I had to take him out to the lobby area to get some fresh air. I guess they didn't know what to do about the heat and jacked it up since they had the a/c for the past few weeks.

Nice Pictures Lisa!

Happy Easter!

Christos Anesti!

Lisa, thanks for sharing the photos. You have such a very nice family.

I was going to tell you guys that it looks like DH and I can get the Tuesday after Memorial Day off so we can go somewhere for our anniversary. My parents are going to watch the kids that Saturday and Sunday night. :woohoo:

We don’t know for sure exactly where we will go but we will probably do a B&B in either Hot Springs, AR, Eureka Springs, AR or Branson. The only other time we left the kids (well actually just kid at the time since I was still pregnant with Allie) we stayed at a really nice B&B in Hot Springs and we had a great time so we might just decide to go back there. I guess I need to do some research.

I do have to say that I think I really underestimate my son sometimes. I mentioned to him this morning about possibly leaving him and DD with my parents for a few nights while we went away just to get a feel for what he thought about it. He was excited and can’t wait to stay with my parents which is really no big surprise. He did ask where we were going and I told him that we didn’t know yet but maybe Hot Springs like last time. He had another suggestion for us: Florida. :)

I was a bit surprised. He then suggested that we go on the Mickey Boat. I asked him how he would feel about us going on the Mickey Boat without him and he thought it was a great idea. This made me think that he must not have had as much fun as I thought he had so I asked him. It turns out that yes he loved the Mickey boat but “he would not be upset or sad if we went on the Mickey boat without him”. He just wanted us to go somewhere where we have fun. He even thought WDW would be a really good idea “as long as we don’t go see Fantasmic because that would make him sad if we saw that without him” (He LOVES Fantasmic!).

I was really surprised. I thought he might be upset but on the contrary he really thought it would be good for us since he knows we really like it and have fun. He is such a typical little kid in so many ways but there are occasions when he really surprises me with how un-self centered he can be. He really just wants us to have a good time. I have to say that made me feel like we much be doing something right with him. :)

awwwwwww!

Soon it will be time to get ready for church - services start at 11:00, conclude at about 2:00 - tonight we go to receive the Light!

At midnight, the church is darkened, and the priest comes out with ONE lit candle, the light coming back into the world. When the entire congregation then lights candles, and the priest goes outside the front doors of the church, and reads the Gospel of the Resurrection to the world.

After Church, a fellowship meal to break the fast in the social hall. Alex has been fasting all of Lent - no meat for 40 days. It will be strange for me this year, because my mom is not with us - she would cook while we were at church every year, and we would go to mom and dad's for an Easter dinner until 3 am . . . no avgolemono soup for me this year.

Have a Blessed Easter and Pascha everyone.

Kali Anastasi! (Happy Resurrection)

For 40 days after tonight, all Orthodox greet each other with:

Christos Anesti! (Christ is Risen!)

and respond with:

Alithos Anesti! (truly he is risen)

John, as long as you have those wonderful memories, your mom will aways be with you. Sounds like she was a true keeper of tradition!

John, the ceremony sounds nice. What good memories to have. :) The baskets are done here & hidden away until the last possible moment when we leave for Mass tomorrow morning. The kids hunt for them after Church when we get home. Not everything could fit...but I like the mix this year.

I love to sing the hymns associated with Christmas and Easter. We often sing the hallelujah chorus during both. I will sing for the choir then because I sing 2 parts. Last night, Steve got the flu and threw up all night... no church for us. He had toast for easter sunday dinner... Savannah says she is sick to, but I think it is sympathy pains for daddy!

Savannah went to 3 easter egg hunts and one at home. The one at work is the most astounding thing I do all year. We spend $1000 on easter candy and toys for the kids of our employees. The only rule is when your bucket is full and overflowing and your pockets are full, you are done. What a riot that is! All other hunts are no biggy for her if she doesnt get anything, which happens a lot, you know, non aggressive, then she is still ok.

Savannah wants me to post these.:laundy: :happytv: :surfweb: :lmao:

What a wonderful and gracious thing you do for your people. You guys are the BEST.

OH MY GOODNESS!!! What a night. :( I didn't get to bed until 1:30...and it wasn't because I was DISing. I was at the ER with William from 6:50 until 1:10 am. We went to a birthday party yesterday afternoon & the kids were outside playing on the trampoline. He is use to them & knows the rules. Well, he was getting down because I told them we were going home and his foot slipped on the stepstool making him fall headfirst to the ground. He of course put his hands out to protect himself and his right hand took the impact. He came in crying and the palm of his hand was bleeding from what looked like a puncture. The kids showed the dad where he had fallen and he found a pine tree twig that probably caused it...since he also had a couple of splinters in the palm of his hand as well. I rushed home to drop off Kaitlyn and have the nurse next door look at it to see if a trip to urgent care was justified or overreacting on my part. She said that it looked like it was starting to swell from something being inside the skin so off we went...only to find it closed early for Easter. A quick call to the ped on call had us going to the ER to get it checked out...where we waited a very long time. It was an hour inbetween everything...having his name called for triage & registration, 80 minutes before being called back to sit on a bed in the hallway to wait another 70 minutes to have the doctor check him out, then an xray, then meds, then move to a room. It was after midnight before the doctor came in to treat it. It took longer for the meds to numb his hand...the poor kid had the needle poked in his hand many times to get that done. :( :( :( Good thing though because they had to hold him down just because he saw what the doctor was going to use to cut his hand open to get the stick out. I worked on keeping his eyes covered the rest of the time and he was in good spirits soon after that was done. The doctor was really good with him so that helped a lot. We hadn't had dinner so I told him that he could have anything he wanted when we left. After picking up a milkshake at McD's we finally got home.

DD just went to school...not at all happy about the fact that her brother is still in bed sleeping. I am going to try to go back to sleep too before he wakes up & needs more painkillers. He has a splint since they have to treat it as a sprain due to where it happened. He is concerned about not being able to write or play his gameboy. ;) I'll check in some time today.

Yikes Lisa!

Hope William feels better when he wakes up.

Having done my share of ER's lately, it appears they are not much different no matter where you live!

Ouch Lisa! I hope William feels better really soon. It sounds like he took quite a fall.

I noticed this morning when I went to get my keys that I lost the "inside" of my cruise keychain that someone in the group made for us. It had the DCL picture on one side and the green DIS Geek cruise logo on the other. I looked in my purse and my car and I can't find it anywhere. I guess I must have lost it at Wal-Mart on Saturday.

Also this morning DH woke up (well actually he didn't really sleep much) feeling pretty bad. He called me a little while ago wanting to know where the carpet cleaner was because he was dozing on the couch and woke up and threw up everywhere....apparently it is pretty bad. Ewww! I just pray that he gets better soon and that the rest of us don't come down with it. We have a babysitter arranged for Wednesday night when we have tickets for the Blue Man Group and it would be a bummer to miss the show.

HUGS to William, wow!

Becka, hug to DH, well after he is feeling better.

John, I can't believe you put that in your signature, lol

Shhhhhhhhhhhhh!

I don't even know if I am legal (I got rid of my OSU flag)!

I thought it was cool, but Peter still needs a mustache, and if you can be a champagne girl, why can't I be the leader of the "lost beer boys"?

Hey guys! I'm briefly checking in to celebrate less than a year to my spring break cruise next year. The meets thread for that one is going nowhere so far.

Although, The only member on that thread is from Atlanta.

We had a quiet Easter this year. My parents came up from South GA for some shopping last week and all the family got together for dinner on Saturday. Sunday DD, DH and I went to the EARLY service at church. Then back home. DD is getting old enough now that the Easter Bunny is letting DH and I do more and more of the shopping so he can concentrate on the little kids.

DD got new in line skates for Easter this year and a chocolate bunny.

Now cover the eyes of all the little ones in the group. We have finally confessed that the easter bunny is actually a PR front for the Easter Vulture. You see, The Easter Vulture is very generous, loving, giving and enjoys children but vultures get bad press. So, he uses a bunny as his front to be more engaging to children. DD took it pretty well. Go figure.

I am glad you are all still together and planning many adventures and cruises together and separately.

As I said our next cruise is Spring Break '08. Keeping DD out of school for a week was too stressful for us last year.

This summer we are planning a trip to Philly to see the King Tut Exhibit with a stopover in DC. I have been to both cities on business but never as a tourist so I am really looking forward to it.

Take Care!

PS
Congratulations on your new title Captn SpanX!

Patsy! It is so good to hear from you again! :grouphug: Our cruise group for 12/08/07 is a bit slow too, but that's ok we are sailing with Brack and Annette and some of my family.
