The new policy is that TAs can not discount DCL cruises any more. They can offer an onboard credit or a gift card (such as Costco), but that is it (unless they have a group rate). RCCL had already been doing this, but TAs can't even offer an onboard cridit with them! Just something like free insurance or such.

Ah ha! I booked with AAA and got a group rate. Mayeb that's why next December is soooo much more than this year!

And my lime green shirt (and other disney shopping stuff) arrived today! Now that they've seen it, maybe others in my family will want one too.

Does the shirt fit well? There's a thread that has me worried because they said the shirts run big. I hope they still fit okay, I really hate to return things. :sad2:

Good morning all! How how it is where you are? It's almost 9 am and low 90s outside right now. High humidity (which we're not used to here in Sacramento) and expected highs in the high 100s. UGH!

I got my little goodie from DCL yesterday, very exciting! I need to send in my payment so I can be ready to book everything when I can!

As far as photos, I'll be bringing my Canon Rebel and my laptop as well, and probably a tripod too. What about using thumb/flash drives to transfer images? Then one person would just have to copy the file 30 times to a thumb drive, which doesn't take too long on a fast computer....

Joy,

Best idea yet!

How does this sound for a plan? Everyone bring a USB Thumb/Keychain drive with you. You can get these for around $20-$30 in various sizes (MB). Here's a link to a site I found with google selling a 128mb for $14.95.

http://www.flash-memory-store.com/128mb-usb-flash-pen-drives.html

I'm sure you can get them just as cheap at office max or Best Buy.

Anyway, we can have several people bring their laptops to the wine and cheese get together, and transfer the DIS group photos to everyone's USB drive. Much easier than CD's, and also as Joy said, much quicker.

What do you think?

BTW - great to see that we have a lot of Mac users out there. Maybe we can convert the rest of you!

Also - Mum, we have one of those computer hutches - but when we were using desktops, it still looked silly because we had a chair and pad in front of it. Now with the laptops, we use it as a laptop "garage" and it also holds our printers and stuff and looks good - especially since we don't need a desk chair now!

John

Ok, just informed DH he needs to get one of those USB things and he said okay. :thumbsup2

Of course he always smiles and nods when I start talking about the cruise. :lmao:

this USB thing - is this similar to a laynard thing college students carry around now-a-days to do presentations in class?

V- Probably . . . I think my son (the college student) has one that is on a lanyard. You can store anything you could put on a CD, etc. on it. I have one on my keychain. They are also sometimes called "keychain drives".

If you remember the old "floppy disks" - those would hold about 1mb of data. The one that I put a link to is equivalent to about 128 of those floppy disks! For $14.95!

They are a great way to store and carry around files from one place to another.

John

Thanks John!! Hope he's doing well!! I think I would have made a GREAT professional college student!!! (i'm still hoping - grad school here I come!!)

DH's parents just moved up to Geneva for half the year!! They'll be back in October or whenever it starts getting cold up there!

My dad and his girlfriend may come on this cruise too and I just looked on DCL - there are cat 4,5,6,8,9,10,11 left...I don't recall this many being left this close to the 90 day mark!! And I am shocked...I thought the double dip would be very popular!

Our date actually when up in price fast, only the may DD was faster, from the original pricing. Now it seems to have cooled off quite a bit.

Next year hurts. :( It is costing us $600 more for the category 10...at least we snagged a SPH! ;)

I noticed the price was up in all cat's --- !!

It's still not up for the cat 10s. Good thing we saved 1000 with DU's group rate. The 9 & 10s are still less than the cat 11s.

Yeah, they should upgrade me and make some extra dough on my cat 11.

:) DD just pointed to your picture and asked who that was with Chip & Dale. I told her that is PJ and you will be seeing her alot at WDW & on the ship. :)

Has anyone done the galley tour? When does everyone sign up for the various activities? Are there any like Palo where you need to sign up immediately or are you able to join at the last minute?

Galley tour, is cool. Not very long, but interesting. And you get a warm cookie at the end. Pick up timed tickets at guest services, I think the tour will be on thursday for this cruise.

The mixology classes needed to be signed up for at Guest services and they have a cost, the same for the Wine tasting class.

Ahh, I hadn't even thought of that - thank you for the heads up. Is there a cost associated with the Art of Entertaining series (Signature Entrees, dazzling desserts)?

No, those don't have any costs...just the ones with alcohol. :) Nice to see you on the thread. :) I would recommend that you go to GS the afternoon we board to pick up the tickets.

:o I decided to stop lurking because I can't spend all of your time up PMing me and decided to stop being a chicken.

John I have a 512mb thumb drive with a lanyard on it. I will bring it. I may need to upgrade my computer space thoe. As I am going to get a couple 1G sd cards for the camera so I can take longer video with it. I also want to buy each of the boys a dig. camera before the trip. We have DH old camera. ($500 when new) But I just today found the software for it, havn't seen it in like two years. Anyhow I thought I'd let the boys use it the rest of the summer and then buy them new ones on black friday. Maybe I will buy Spencer a new one and give Wyatt dons. Don can ask him to use it. :cool1: I figure I can find him a nice camera for just over $100 that maybe will take video also. It is over 100 D here and It was even to hot to go to the lake. DH didn't want to fry in the sun.
