Lisa, my mother still burns towels on the stove, she is 58 and we have one of those stoves with the burners under ceramic stove top.

Wow Lisa! That is so scary. I caught one on fire when I still lived at home. I was about 15 and it scared the life out of me! I just threw it in the sink to put it out. I can't believe it went out with DD blowing on it. Poor Kid. I guess she had her scare for the day.

I want to go and finish cleaning my bedroom. I got a lot done in there today but I still have a few things on my bed. DH goes to bed earlier than I do since he gets up so early. I better make sure there is room for him! G'Night All.

DD says that there wasn't any flame...just smoke...but there was a big cut in the towel so it was probably pretty close to a flame. :( I have gotten a few projects done around here. I got tired of moving my scrapbook stuff out of the stair closet so I bought one of the wide drawer things on wheels. It is going to be so much easier now! :)

I worked 10.5 hours today, drove 2 hours to get there and back, mowed the lawn when I got home (1 hour on a riding lawn mower), got water going on the lawn, and made dinner. Waiting for DrHug to get home now. He worked until 8:45 so it will still be awhile. :rolleyes1 Waiting, waiting, :rolleyes1

Yep, that's the kind of stove we have that DD turned on the wrong burner - the one that had the potholder on it. :sad2:

Today I committed to sailing with the blabbermouths in 2008. I'll book a cruise while we are aboard in Dec to get the on board booking credit then move it when the 2008 cruises are announced. Now I will have to keep up with this tread AND the blabbermouth thread. :surfweb: I think I will be busy on my days off. :surfweb: :surfweb:

Angie, so you have given up on us & found a way to be a part of the highest post count thread another way? ;) JK!

I can't believe that DD was up until midnight watching Simba's Pride last night. It was so relaxing somehow. I was working on that new table for the site & she was so good. :) DH will be home sometime tomorrow!!! The kids & I are going to the pool for a little while.

Good Morning All!

I know I've been MIA for 2 days....2 very long days...

Here's my story...

Got home Tuesday night and from 3:45PM to 5:30AM...ALL NIGHT LONG...
we pumped water, squeegied (sp???) water, dug ditches....anything and everything we could to get the water to not come in the basement.

I've never experienced anything like it in my life.

Then we were too tired to go to work Wed. Pure exhaustion, mental and physical.

Thursday - yes - Court day. I am very impressed that Kristina remembered.

Well - we spent 2 1/2 hours in the magistrate's office. The contractor lied thru his teeth - saying stuff like ---- he couldn't say for sure if that was our house with all the flood water in it :furious: or...his workers didn't splatter the concrete on our siding...my DH must have done that.. :furious:

It was so unbelievable. I just sat there and prayed for peace. In fact, I've spent most of this week praying and praying...praying for no rain, praying for the whole thing to be over.

There was so much back and forth and issues, that the judge wants to take his allowed 5 days to go over the evidence and make his ruling. Not sure if that is good or bad. We thought it was cut and dry - we had a contract for X. We got Y. Y caused flooding....we should at the very least not have to pay for the contract.....AND the contractor should be liable for SOME of the damages to our house....right now our estimates are at $20K to fix and repair what he did wrong/damaged that doesn't include ANY flood damage. But since the magistrates limit was $8K,that's all we could sue unless we wanted to take it to a higher court. We just wanted the whole thing over so we filed our counter claim for $8K. We'll find out the decision on July 5.

I'm sad. I'm exhausted. Please keep us in your prayers. We now literally have to sleep with our window open so that the minute it starts to rain we can run down stairs and start to pump water. Words can't describe it.

I'm gonna catch up on the posts, but I have so much to do that I probably won't be so chatty.

Thanks for letting me vent. I just keep welling up with tears. Hopefully by this weekend I'll be able to shake this off.

Pray for :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

Just think of all the minimeets you can have until then! :cheer2:

Karen,
Good luck with the Judge and the Contractor. I know you can't wait to have it behind you.

Here's a little something just for you:

Jane dies and goes to heaven. Saint Peter stops her. “Jane, you’ve been a baaaaad girl. But, you did love God and you did try. So, we are going to let you in anyway. You will need to be punished so here’s what we’re going to do. In heaven we have permanent mates. See that ugly guy over there. He’s going to be your husband for all eternity. Welcome to Heaven!”

Martha dies and goes to heaven. Saint Peter stops her. “Martha, you’ve been a baaaaad girl. But, you did love God and you did try. So, we are going to let you in anyway. You will need to be punished so here’s what we’re going to do. In heaven we have permanent mates. See that ugly guy over there. He’s going to be your husband for all eternity. Welcome to Heaven!”

Jane and Martha are hanging out in heaven with their UGLY husbands when they see Karen’s contractor. He is with a supermodel. They run up and ask him. “What happened? You weren’t any better behaved than us! How did you hook up with a supermodel?”

“I don’t know,” he says. “I was just hanging around the gate when I heard Saint Peter say “Honey you’ve been a baaaaaad girl.”

Karen - I have been praying for you. I knew from your post the other day about not wanting to go home for fear of water that you were probably at home with a water mess. I feel for you. Dealing with contractors isn't easy. I hope the judge can see through his lies. The water has been terrible on top of an already existing problem. Hang in there girl!

I think I am going to wash curtains today. Exciting day huh! Then my DM is going to come and stay with the kids so I can mow grass....it just keeps getting better and better!!!! :rotfl: Try not to be jealous of my very exciting day!!!!

Best wishes for everything, Karen. ((((HUGS)))) You are a nut, Patsy! I hope that Karen read that joke. :lmao:

I'm just waiting to take DS to class & then we will be at the pool for a while. Have a good morning everybody!

Thank you, :thanks: . The good news is - that's all the "official" jokes I know so now I am done.

Painting is done on the walls. It actually looks quite nice and DD loves it!
Now to rip out the carpet...

Oh, and another addition to the project. We will have to take off the trim along the floor for the Pergo. I was going to do it before hand, but then thought about how DH hasn't finished putting up the trim in the dinning room yet! But it will be much easier to take it off instead of cutting it while it is up. Hopefully I can do it w/o ruining the paint!
