Will they also have practice in addition to the two games per week? We did. It is quite a commitment. No advise from here. :confused3

yes I would definitely ask about the practices - it probably depends on the coach.

We play soccer once a week and are just about ready for another game when the next Sunday comes round. We had 1 or 2 practices early in the season and then it got too cold and dark and dropped them.

You probably need to balance it with her school work. I know when we had evening practices - we had just enough time to get dressed, dinner done and get over to the field. It was really too much after a day at school and then hard to go to bed after. Does she do any other after school activities?

Saturdays are tougher to give up than Sundays I think because there are errands that can only be done then - post office, dry cleaner etc.

I think at that age a comittment of more than once a week is too much - that is why I hate karate classes - they all meet 2x week. It means you are really devoted to that sport exclusively. Savannah has devoted herself to skating but not many kids are really that interested in one thing early on.

The team participation is a great personal/social skill. She may also be interested for the social aspects with friends from school. I think my kids learned a lot about working with a coach and other team members. and they learned some things about themselves.

Soccer is an alternative but she seems fixed on tball. Does she understand that at her age the ball is not tethered - not quite as easy when pitched.

Carla, I wont let the kids sign up for anything during school that has night games. They practiced one night a week with soccer 5-6 and they had a game on Saturday 10-11. IMO that is enough of a commitment for a 6 yo....even for DS8. My kids need to be in bed by 8 pm at the latest or they are bears to get out of bed the next morning for school. I will allow DS to read a bit after that but he is winding down...not active running around at a game. I wont even let him join scouts because the meetings are until 7:30. That is just how I handle it. I depends on your child...their regular sleep habits.

I feel the same way - Jaea is being pressed to join Daisies - didn't know there was such a thing - the leader is one of the K mothers. But the meetings run until 7:30pm also - why do 5 and 6 yr. olds need to be in an activity this late? I guess they can't start the meetings until people can drive the kids to the meeting spot in the evening. BUt we always had afternoon girl scouts.

Our soccer practices were at 6pm. We were told a very short practice - at 7:15pm. I finally said this is the last 5 minutes right?

I've decided against Tball. It was my inclination but I needed to really think and I appreciate the feedback. Yes, an extra day for practice was also considered. Skating every Sunday at 9:30A until March is going on and just like this morning I can get her to go no problem but if I don't get up and get everything in order she and DH have a standoff. This morning I happened to go to Target early (love that they open at 8A - no Wii systems so it was an in and out. I did see two ps3 (no thanks for 599.99), swung by the Bagel store and came home to hear "I'm not going". Well I came upstairs and calmly told her she was but more important I wanted to please have breakfast with her because I haven't really seen her since Wed night. No problem.

Oh Daisies. They make you feel like a terrible parent if you don't join. The thing Daisies would have given her though is a better spot to get into the local girl scout troop since evidently the one she would be part of (not), was full and they formed another one. I am finding 1st grade a bit of a clique with the parents. I did not feel that way about K. I get frustrated when I have the least flexible schedule due to work and I end up getting the dregs spots. People sometimes think because I get to work from home as well as travel I can get notified at the last minute about things. Recently when I tried to get someone to change schedules with me its like pulling teeth. I have not been as involved with school this year for that reason and it bums me out because I like her teacher and the kids in the class.

Ok so I have had the week from you know what. So why is it so hard to understand that I don't feel like going to my SIL's today to exchange gifts? That one was sprung on me last night. Oh by the way (because you know also involved is what he is going to bring as a gift because this year I said he needed to buy for his family and of course he didn't). I was ready to scream.

Lets see I have the client from Hades (and not the funny DCL version), I was on the road all day Thursday but had to rush back home to pick up DD, wait for DH to get home at 6P when I had to go to a dinner meeting, Friday same thing. NO I DO NOT WANT TO GO TO MY SIL's HOUSE TODAY. I haven't even seen MY sister. I am TIRED. My house is a MESS. I want to stay HOME!

Can I fly to WDW this morning and get home late this evening - tomorrow morning? - I have the points on JetBlue, I have DVC.

Tell me about it.... When dd was younger. We had something pretty much every day of the week.

Fall was :
Cheerleading (2 practices and 1 game on Sat or Sundays)
Soccer (1 practice and 1 game Sat)

Some weeks we had to miss one or the other if games overlapped. More often dd learned to change in the car.

She also had Girl Scouts.

Going in October when soccer/football seasons ended, She returned to dance classes (2 times a week) and swimming lessons. (Sometimes once a week, sometimes twice)

Kept her busy though....

BUt we always had afternoon girl scouts.

You also had many SAHM's back then.... Many leaders today have jobs (usually till 5 if they're full time) and families to feed so meetings get scheduled at 6ish at night....

Also many of the places you can hold meetings (schools) are not available until after 6 or 6:30 due to after-school daycare programs in the schools.

Powerball numbers for 01/13/2007 are:

01 21 23 25 26 Powerball 4
Powerplay 2

The estimated Grand Prize was: $157,000,000 ($75,100,000 cash).
There was no Grand Prize Winner.

I don't even play and I still get the email sent to me. What does that say about me?:upsidedow

DH has been looking for heating and cooling systems online. He found one from GA that needs to be picked up. I told him I could do it on my way home from FL. :lmao:

I have to go get ready. B-day party for my niece and they are near Philadelphia so we a bit of a drive today. :wave2: (sorry, I didn't feel like finding the good-bye smiley ;) )

Are you stopping to see us, too? The house is a mess, and I have to get some groceries... but come and see us!!

Did I hear that someone needed a 4th girl? :rolleyes1

I promise I am a whole lot more fun when I am not around my kids. :rotfl:
