We had a message this morning that Mike's GM died Wednesday. I don't have any other information but expect us to leave some time today to attend the funeral. On the plus side, the kids will get to meet uncles, aunts, & cousins that they don't remember from when they were very little. I don't know how much time I am going to have up until then so wanted to let you guys know why I am gone for a few days.

Lisa :grouphug: really.

Well, I finally talked to someone in the family who knows something & there will not be a funeral. She will have a graveside service at Arlington to be buried with her DH but that could be up to 2 weeks away. I guess that you guys are stuck with me for now. ;) Thanks for all of the good wishes. I still haven't been able to reach Mike.

Oh, Arlington is such a wonderful place! I would love to rest there. Not right now of course, a long time from now.

They are drinking over there again. Maybe my DGM should come on this cruise. She loves martinis!

Mike's GF served in the military and he is buried there. The service was very moving. I think that we will spend some time taking the kids around the cemetary that day or maybe the next. They have heard about JFK's site and a couple other things. I think that this will be a meaningful time for them to see that.

DD has bee obsessed with Abraham Lincoln & George Washington this week since they have been learning about them in school. She came home yesterday quite sad that AL had been shot in the head. When I told them about daddy's GM since I figured that we would have to pick them up from school to drive up today, she frowned for a bit. She then asked me if Daddy's GM is now in Heaven. When I told her that I thought she is, she smiled & said COOL! She can meet Abraham Lincoln then! Thank goodness for the little ones being able to make us smile at the hardest times.

Lisa, go to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and be there for the changing of the guard. It is amazing! We saw a tv program about the selection and training of the soldiers for that duty and dedicated they are to manning their post.

:lmao: Yes, and they are doing the EB, the WB and the Med in suites. Holy Cow! We are in the wrong business or something! ;)

I forgot about that! You're right Angie . . . I am just in awe! Should we move West?

I think that was on Discovery - just like the program on Air Force One. That place sent chills up my spine. It is truly an amazing experience for any American.

Oh, and don't forget, someone won enough in Vegas over the weekend to pay for the cruise. (cat 3)

I feel like a minor leaguer at the show for the first time.

Did I mention our gas bill came today?

$475.00!:scared1:

That's more than our old house payment used to be!

I have been to the unknown soilder service twice, once on Memorial Day, very impactful.

I didn't realize you were going so soon Carla....

I'm jealous....

Oh and a cool thing to do for her b-day is go to Beaches and Cream and get the Kitchen Sink. (she does eat ice cream right)

They will give her balloons and such and sing for her b-day.

Carla-

Here are the things that I know for Isabella that you did not mention that you have done.

There is a Sassagoula river trip from POR that is similar to the GF pirate adventure but as a boat captain rather than pirate. Caribbean beach also has a river trip but it only runs once a week I believe - but they are always juggling this.

There are several new walking tours - one at MK and one at AK that are short and meant for families. I think the one at AK involves a safari tour too.

The AKL has a 4 hour camp that runs on saturdays - the kids might really like this. You can also spend most of the day over there doing some of the bead activities - they run at various times during the day - almost all of them are really fun and interesting. There is also a fun scavenger hunt through the african art works.

If you have never been to Disneyquest - it is worth going to for a few hours and the Cheesecake factory food is great.

If you are looking to go off property you can eat at the Gaylord Palms on their boat that is anchored in the lobby - they used to have entertainment on sunday nights - balloons, face painting etc. Not sure if they still do this.

My kids had fun at the Dolly Parton horse show. Sea World has some backstage tours of the manatees, penguins etc.

have a wonderful birthday trip there.

OUCH!! We are all electric and our bill in the winter is always over $300, but whoa! almost 500 is just wrong!

I went there in 8th grade and it was very moving at the time. I want the kids to see that for sure.

And a visit to the home of Robert E Lee there in Arlington is well worth the time also. It is beautiful, the view is amazing, and the story of how Arlington Cemetary came to be is fascinating.

Holy bill payment Bananaman.......:scared1:

I'm know as the heat miser in my house....

Heat stays at 60 during the day.....DD does turn it up to 68 when she gets home (3:45 ish) but then we turn it down again around 10 pm.

My dh came home this afternoon and was begging me to turn up the heat. I had a sweater and sweatshirt over it all day....With the sun coming in the front windows...i was fine....

Our gas bill has never been over $125 in this house.....YET...

Of course only our heat is gas.

Hey - wish you could come as well. WDW MINI MEET EVERYONE!! I looked at touringplans and saw the crowd numbers so you'll probably be glad not to be there.

THANK YOU! :goodvibes What a cool idea re Beaches and Cream. We have never had the Kitchen Sink AND I had no idea they did that re birthdays. She loves icecream as does her cousin. How do you arrange it since they don't take PS there. I have to start calling them ADR's but that's like calling the Wedway People Mover whatever its called now --see I can't even recall the name ;) Hey what would that be considered on the dining plan? :lmao:
