ROFLMAO!!!! I forgot to tell you what DD wrote about the pilgrims!!! :lmao:

She was comparing what the kids did then to what she does now. You know....then wash clothes, grow food....now make bed, go to the store with mommy. Of course on top of her list for then????

hunting for beer

:rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2:

I thought that she misspelled bear but nope! She wrote her d backwards so they were suppose to be hunting for deer. Priceless though. :)

MY DOCS ARE.....

not at my house.

My parents' TA sent everyone's docs to my parents' house (since they made the reservation, I guess). So I'll have to wait until Dec 8 at the Residence Inn.

OK, that counts. You are on the list in the first post now. :cool1:

Do a google search for a camera forum about your camera.

You can already use it on auto, the basics you need is to understand aperture and shutter priority, the ISO speed you want to shoot at, and how to correctly use the flash and lighting.

I just read up on aperture, shutter speed, ISO, lighting, flash, etc...and Im anxious to give it a try....I understand now why I was getting such crappy pictures before..blurry, etc...

The site I found even had tips on shooting sunsets, light and the colors associated with time of day (dawn vs dusk vs midday)

I may even consider a tripod... :thumbsup2

:sad2: This would bother me to hear a kid say that but then I also recall so many stories DH told me about his friends... how they'd pour gasoline down ant holes and light them or other things that involved fire and blowing things up. Maybe it's more of just a boy thing than something sinister? :confused3

A little dose of some reality from Dody . . . we did do some pretty stupid things as kids (boys) including all of the above and worse. Used to set the ground on fire with gas and roll on it to put it out. Used firecrackers in ways you could not imagine, etc., etc. . .

That being said, we live in different times. Oklahoma City, Suicide Bombers, and on and on. I still think someone should check it out.

Anyway . . . I just noticed, "reuseable bomb"? Kind of an oxymoron . . .

Time for bed soon - last night wore me out.

Brandi . . . are you working on that paper?

Did anyone notice we are closing in on 1000 posts? Something about this banana is a little obscene to me. LOLOL :lmao:

This was just posted on my 2007 cruise thread, :rotfl2: .

I was just thinking this morning, on the walk to work, how much I was going to hate not cruising with you all next year. Even if i bond with the new cruisers, I will still miss you. :guilty: .

I bought the antibacterial wipes and got some AB gels and lotions at BBW (yes, I'm a tad OCD-ish) but also wanted to spray some lysol in the room when we arrive just in case a previous guest may have had a cold or something. I also ALWAYS spray down comforters in hotels, etc... those don't get washed regularly like sheets do. Eww.

They do on the Magic. :) I have seen the spreads in the bags in the hall on the last morning with the sheets. :thumbsup2

But I am a collector! Reason one I don't by ANYTHING that has more parts! :rotfl:

I am a collector too, but I use them. I miss the smell of Dektol and Fix, and the hours in the darkroom. Ah, but digital is easier. Not any more fun than film though. Just quicker. I once spent 30 hours on my B&W print "Einstein House". It is like a fine painting when you work on a print like that. Jim Hansen, a well known product and ad photographer, was my teacher, and he said my Photo was the finest architectural night shot he had ever seen. What a compliment that was. I had a big head for weeks. LOL! He taught me how to use a large format camera. Ansel had an 8 x 10 view camera. I want one. LOL. Ansel Adams was the best in his genre. Using that heavy equipment takes time and patience. But it is very satisfying. I  photography. I just can hardly wait until I have the time for it. My building shot was a 1 hour exposure at f32, after dark. I was going to bracket the shots, but that one did the trick.
(after precise calculations of course). Well, okay, so I was lucky. I was not looking forward to that 2 hour shot.

Speaking of quiet ones. I have a little 6 year old boy who never says anything in my sunday school class. He comes from a broken home and they are really struggling financially. Anyway, i asked them all what they want for christmas. He said Dynamite. Should I be concerned?

Hey Dennis,

Maybe we are twins too!

I did all my college photography work on night photography. Everything you said above is so true. I did some photos I am still proud of at the William McKinley Monument here in Canton during my college days. Never had an exposure that long though.

I also LOVED the darkroom. There was always a thrill dropping that paper in the developer and waiting for it to "pop". Digital is sooooo much easier, and soooo much faster, but not as much of a get your hands dirty art form.

BTW - Ansel Adams is my all time favorite, and I have used a 4x5 view camera back in the day, ground glass focusing and all!
