Nathan looks miserable. His fever is up to 102 and he just had that sick, pathetic look on his face. He is laying on the couch all covered up with a blanket (with only underwear on under the blankets of course ) and watching Krypto the Superdog.

I gave him some Tylenol since it was not quite yet time for his next dose of Motrin. I hope he gets better soon. I hate it when my babies are sick.

Give him lots of little kisses.

So you just stick the meat in the ziplock bag? No other wrap? That would be great! I put them in ziplocks after they are wrapped up. That would end up saving alot of $$$.

Well after making everyone's buttons this weekend/week....my DH and DSs have heard the stories....some they chuckled, some they laughed at...some they stared at me.

I've never quite understood what Lyme Disease does but from what I gather it's similar to MS (Multiple Sclerosis) type symptoms... so I assume muscle weakness, numbness, tingling, etc. I've been tested time and time again for Lyme Disease even though I don't recall ever being bitten by a tick, but the doctors believe I have MS but can't find signs of it in my MRI's or spinal tap. So they've started looking at other things- Lyme Disease, B12 deficiency, etc... so that's how I assume Lyme is like MS. I don't think it's deadly or anything but can be uncomfortable. Maybe catching it early will help a lot also.

Dody, I'm sorry you are going through this! My best friend went though lots os testing and they thought she had MS for a while. Turned out it was stress related. I hope they can figure something out soon. Lyme's is not easy to pin point.

That's something I forgot, Lisa. I have used the bribery approach, too. One bribe that worked was having some Sprite after the medicine... it's a rare treat for my kids, and I think the fizziness helps to cut through the thick medicine taste.

I have resorted to letting DD drink a little coke since that is usually taboo for them.

What do you do with a kid who gets so upset taking medicine that he throws it right back up. I managed to get two doses of Motrin in him last night and this morning with fairly minimal upset but the sicker and worse he feels the harder it becomes to get him to take it. He just took 1/2 dose of Motrin and then got sick. Yuck! Thankfully we "caught" most of it but then he turns into a hysterical mess while I try to clean him and couch up. I feel so bad for him but he really needs the meds. I will try again a little while leter. I did give him a Tylenol suppository to at least get some kind of medicine in him but they don't make Motrin suppositories and the Tylenol does not work as well at keeping his fevers down.

Does anyone else have a kid like this? What do you do?

Becka, as long as his fever doesn't get too high, don't worry about how much medicine he takes. Give him a cool bath or a cool washcloth on his forhead. His body is fighting whatever it is. Thses things will help keep him more comfortable.

Lisa, we have had DSL for years. We have had an excellent connection and really do not lose service (had some problems this summer, and the service guy came and replaced everything). We don't have cable TV (satellite instead) so getting cable internet does not make sense.

DD13 got Lyme disease when she was 9 and turning 10. We didn't discover it until November when she couldn't walk one Monday morning --her ankle was really swollen. Thought maybe she had done something at soccer over the weekend. Went to the Dr., got xrays, etc. Dr decided to do a blood test for Lyme just on a hunch. Two days later--got the results. The swollen joints are stage 3 of Lyme... we never noticed a tic bite or the target rash, but it had probably happened back in August... DD had spent much of the fall being really tired, but we wrote it off to the crazy schedule (DS3 had been born that same August; no one was sleeping well!). Anyway, antibiotics for 3 weeks and all was well. Actually, the ankle was good enough to play soccer again that Saturday!

Glad to hear the treatment was such a success!!
