My mom has been watching the kids for me today. I am scrapbooking 10 cookbooks and 5 calanders for chirstmas gifts. My grandmother passed away 2 weeks after my DS was born. I am taking 22 of her best recipes and making them...along with some of her pics. It is turning out really well...but it is hard for me (emotionally.) She was the first person to pass that was someone really important to me. She and my Grandfather were the farmers and they gave land to each of their kids..so we all lived on the farm. She had 4 children and 6 grandchildren. I am making a cookbook for each. I will give them out at our family Christmas party. We are having it really early this year because my immediate family will be in Disney. I must have them complete by the first Sunday in December. The only people who know about the cookbook other than my DH are one of my aunts (she had access to the recipes) and my Grandfather (I didn't want to surprise him and upset him at the party.) My grandmother was a fabulous cook. In the winter she would bake about 500 pies plus cookies and cakes each week for market (they were produce farmers and this was their income when there were no crops.) In the spring she would continue with the pies and add candy for easter. I included a few pie and candy recipes. I also included the recipes for the dishes she would make for holidays. Anyway, I need to get back to that.

It's like you live in another time.... slower pace and more relaxed than our lives. The days of Mayberry... I would love to live on that mountain... I'm serious!!!

I was really just wondering because I was hoping not to have to stand outside the whole time trying to keep my kids in line. However you do bring up an interesting point. If I am going down I want to go with a bunch of my friends in the boat with me! :lmao:

Karen - Don't they usually line you up by stateroom number? That means you are the lucky winner of the "Has to stand next to an upset preschooler who wants to take off his clothes and an upset toddler would rather try to escape while throwing a screaming fit than wear a life jacket and be patient with the life boat drill while Mom (that's me ;) ) prays for it to be over quick so she can drink away her frazzled nerves at the sailaway party" Contest!!! :woohoo:

Don't make him wear the jacket the whole time. When Sophia was younger she didn't like them either and we would just carry them. The CM's said that was fine as long as we knew where they were and how to put it on her.

Maybe it depends on the CM or how small the child is, but we saw several Dad's holding little ones. We have gotten REALLY lucky the last couple of cruises and got to muster in Animaters Palate. :sunny: :) :thumbsup2

I remember this muster station on our first cruise. The smoke stack caught fire in the middle of the night and I have food poisioning from shore ..... not a good night.

I would love to have an Egg Nog Latte right now

well I did not end up going. DH got home in time to sweep through and make it to his game. I am going to call my doc in the morning....I took a long hot bath and seemed ok, and now I have been sitting and went to get up and it's back again. First I was thinking it may be my back and if something is pinched or what have you, but no back pain today at least. It's just the weirdest feeling. I can see my legs but I need to touch them to make sure they "feel".who knows....I am going to try and not worry!

I have some "work" I need to be doing and would like to watch dancing with the stars.

I hurt my back in August and the muscles in my thigh has been "unfeeling" to some degree since. It could be a nerve problem but you really need to let a doctor decide that.

A friend of mine, and fellow VietNam Vet, was once asked what it was like to be in VietNam. His answer really hit home with me and made me realize why I was so stressed all of the time too. He said to think about the 'Scaredest' you ever been in your life, then multiply that by 24 hours a day for 365 days. THAT was it exactly. I did 2 tours and was a mess with me and I'll Kick Your A** kinda person and that was not good. SO, now I am DrHug, and have adapted to the PTSD on my own. It's just not worth it to stress to death. I still get tweaked once in awhile, by something or someone, but am able to instantly cool down. Not to say I was a bad guy running around looking for trouble, but I did have a temper problem and if someone mistreated someone in a bad way, or cussed in front of my kids, or was overtly threatening in any way, I was in their face. Laughter and not taking life so seriously is much better. AH, poor MrsMork. How she must have worried about me. :thanks: :offtopic: Sorry. But, hey....this is a good place to vent... I usually don't open up about that stuff too much. But...

I Feel Good.....................James Brown.

By the way....Happy Veteran's Day to all you Veterans out there. I was bunkered up for the weekend. And to all of the Awesome guys serving everywhere. I Salute you. I know the guys in Iraq and Afghanistan are feeling what I just described. God Bless you all.

This is so true... it is just not worth it to get all stressed and worked up. That being said I have a really hard time living by that. I react based on emotions.... and when I get mad, stressed, .... that is it. DD or DS comes home from school and tells us something I am going off... "well let me go in there I will tell them what they can do, or I will call their mother and tell them..."

John is the voice of reason. He will say "Amy, relax let's call and see what happened or let's go in and see what happened, because there are always two sides to every story and as much as we love our kids we know we don't always get the whole story."
