I haven't done laundry all week & it is piling up. :( This weekend I will be catching up. :( The house is a mess. I told DH this when he called me back tonight. The kids & I were at the school until 6:15 and then we went by McD's to eat. I cut & tied tulle for two hours since the other volunteers didn't show up today & am about half way thru stringing fishing line thru metalic stars to put up in the cafeteria. I had to take a break.

Lisa, we went to Parent Teacher Conference Thursday and discovered there was no head room mom for DD's class. The lady in charge of getting room mom's just dropped her job. So.... getting ready for the class halloween party on Tuesday. I just love when people don't do what they say they will.

I haven't had a chance to read at all today other than these last couple of pages. I see people are in packing mode. What is that?? No matter what I do I always seem to be finishing packing until the wee hours of the morning we leave. I have a thing about it - mental block - who knows. I find it very stressful. If it is work I also pack at the last minute. :confused3

Don't get me wrong I know what I am packing when it is work or for DH or DD. It is just me.

Carla,

No worries. We are all going to Arizona next week for work and 2 days vacation. I am leaving Monday, working M-F until noon coming back sun. DH, DD, best friend and best friends mom are coming Tuesday night. So we need all our warm clothes and suits still. Until then, I cannot even think about it..

I took the afternoon off today because I felt like crap but frankly I don't have time to feel like crap. Things to do things to do.

I always feel guilty taking the downtime as well. I told a co-worker it would have been better to be hospitalized trying to get over pneumonia. At least then it is more difficult for people to ask you for things right after they ask how you are. I mean how are you supposed to answer it - its a purely retorical question isn't it. They really don't want to know. Now I say Fine and I get the response "No you are not" I say "You're right. So, what can I do for you today"

I always wish someone could put me in a medical coma for a week when I get that sick. That way, I could not work and would not feel guilty about it. I would also not feel guilty, and this is much harder and actually impossible, about not taking care of DD. Plus, just think how rested you would be!

That was sweet. Thank goodness the majority (I did not say all) of K teachers are super sweet!

Which is totally amazing since they have to corral all those children into a new situation! DD's was REALLY NICE!!! I wonder if she ever yells at home?

Oh, a Stephen King fan....I read some of his stuff...ever read the Bachman Books?

I joined the SK Library many moons ago when I had the time and energy to read. Haven't read any of them in at least 6 or so yeard, but I haven't cancelled the club.

I was going to comment...but was too tired...but since you did...thanks!

We had a nice time today at the baby shower. Kids got to see lots of their cousins that we have been too busy to visit lately. We also played a few games at home and had a relaxing day. The girls have now discovered the joys of CLUE. :magnify:

The girls have also dicovered The Munsters tonight. There is a marathon on.

The last softball game is tomorrow (YIPEE!!) but it is going to be cold and windy. Yuck!!

Jill I am so sorry that Autumn is not doing well. My family will say extra prayers for your family.

I can guarantee that if you tell your servers they will bring a cake for her on any night of your choosing.

How old is Alex?

Hey fellow Geeks - Need Birthday Girl Ideas!!!!!

Our TA scheduled the birthday thing for DD one of the days of the cruise just for her. I thought that was really nice of her. Would your TA ever do that?

Also, I bet you could get the people at the stack to do something.

This is what I get from the DING

Hi all!
Karen, I saw the "Ty" posts. Don't know anything. Congrats on the lion costume.

On the purple eggs:
Am I the only one who understood what he was thinking with the purple eggs? (At least I think he was talking about pickled red beet eggs.) Just had to look it up and it's another Pennsylvania Dutch thing. Haven't seen them since I was a kid, but I'll share the recipe I found for those who are trying to understand this concept.

Red Beet Eggs
Here’s how the Pennsylvania Dutch make hard-boiled eggs tastier and more colorful. Great for summertime picnics.

2 quarts boiled red beets
1 ½ cups cider vinegar
2 ½ cups sugar
2 dozen hard boiled eggs

In a saucepan bring beets, vinegar, and sugar to a boil. Remove from heat. Peel eggs. Add eggs to beet mixture when still hot. Cool and refrigerate several hours or overnight. Serve.
You mean people don't eat red beet eggs everywhere???? They are a picnic staple around here!

I've never gotten one myself. Sarah did when she was smaller because she had RSV. Sarah hasn't been immunized from Chicken Pox, nor has she had them. The other two got the shots.

DH had horrible shingles and has permanent nerve pain. I wish they would have had the vaccine for Chicken Pox when he was little....

Wow Kim, sorry to hear about that. The problem is, the vaccine does NOT guarantee anything. I know many people(kids) who have still gotten chicken pox so I am sure they can also get shingles.

I'm only in Philly and I never see anyone make them for picnics, etc. And of course never saw them when I lived in NC and VA. So that's why the comment took me back to childhood!

I've been running around like a mad lady trying to get so much done today....and she sat there.

The other thing that erks me...she sits there and talks about her daughter and son in law to us - what they are doing wrong with their lives and the fights they had, etc. I finally got the nerve to ask her if she talks about us to them and she said "sometimes." She actually admitted it.
Oh MY! Hang in there!! :grouphug:
