12/04/2010 Eastern MAGIC - CHIP 'N' DALE'S CRUISIN' NUTS

Just a reminder to all to sign up for the Munk's Fitness Walk...This is not a commitment, just a rough estimate and even if you do it once on the first day, I want to make sure everyone gets a sticker! Taswira has said that if we get enough people to sign up for the first day, we might get a visit from a couple of our favorite cruisin' guys. Anyway, wanted to bump it up so cruisers could keep it in mind!:dance3:
So far I think there are only 8 or 9 of us signed up. I am concerned that for any of us who might start our dining rotation with Animator's (and you never know until you receive your KTTW at check-in), that would put our character breakfast on Sunday morning . . probably about the same time as the 'Munk Walk. So we have to anticipate some no-shows. I missed the character breakfast on my last cruise due to a schedule conflict. Probable rotations are LAPLAPL, APLAPLA or PLAPLAP. Those who end up with APLAPLA on their card will have their character breakfast on Sunday.

Hey guys - Just spent a few minutes checking our cruise on DCL's site. Looks like right now there is the following availability:

Cat 7 = 0 available
Cat 6 = 0
Cat 5 = 7
Cat 4 = 8
Cat 3 = 7
Cat 2 = 1

I was only looking to see how guest numbers are shaping up. Didn't get around to checking the lower categories, but although I am happy with my selected Cat. 7, I posted those availability stats in case any here are seeking an upgrade. I still think they are going to be "giving away" several Cat. 4. They never seem to be much in demand. :confused3

Yeah, jury duty! I had to actually serve on a jury for a trial last time that lasted two weeks. Then my husband got his jury duty and was told on the night before phone call that he didn't need to even show up. Just my luck! Hope you get a quick release.

I served on a jury before. Civil case, woman walked into a plate glass window and broke her nose. She refused medical assistance that was offered by the store (not to mention other stupidities like contradicting her own testimony).

Well, I'm still in GTY status, maybe I'll be lucky and get upgraded -- will have to wait till 30-45 days out (I sure hope I don't have to wait until we get there) to see.

We are switching to Late Dining so our daughter (close to 8) can do the Dine and Play. Are their any Crusin Nuts that have kids similar age who would like to sit with us? We are from VA Beach and very sociable, I would prefer to sit with someone we semi know versus complete strangers :)

Let me know, I can mention it to the cruise line when I switch our dining reservation.

We will see you at Dinner :) We have a party of 10 so we won't be able to share tables but I will be sending the two little ones away to play just like last year!!!;) Loved that service!!!!

Tanya & Mike,

I will talk to Michele (plutonme). Our son is 12 and is that point where dinner is hit and miss with him (unless its pizza), so I can back to you.

Jim (GolfNPirate)

Beach-- we are doing early dining.. sorry! (our last cruise we were on with a Tanya and Mike too!)

so where we you 9 yrs ago today? we were on vacation in Seagrove Beach-- when my mom called and told us to turn on the tv. We had Disney channel on for the girls. A day I know none of us will ever forget!

Tonya, this is Michele Golfnpirate wife. I had sent you a private message about sitting together. Since you are for the same area and Mike and I are both nurses, figure we would have things to talk about. We can switch to late dining and will request to sit with you and I guess you could do the same. Read your private message, has our email

We were in WDW on 9/11 arriving at 6 am. We went to Animal Kingdom, while watching the Lion King show the performers went off stage and a guy in a suit and tie, (VP of something) said Disney is closing the parks. Disney did great handling the situation. On the brighter side, the parks we near empty all week, no problems getting into any shows or rides.

Thought about rolling down to Orlando 1st week of October for a little week getaway before the cruise.... I have never been to Orlando that time of year... any thoughts????:rolleyes1

I was at my other home in Idaho on 9/11. I was driving on the freeway headed to Discovery Center of Idaho, where I was working with audio-animatronic dinosaurs for a special exhibit. That was the morning the dinosaurs arrived and I had to be there early to help with the unloading and set-up. I heard the news on the radio and was immediately playing phone tag with my family from my cell, since both my sister and nephew are airline crew and at first the details were sketchy. Sad, tragic day. :sad1:

So on a happier note: I received my cruise docs today ... for my upcoming Wonder cruise. :rotfl2: This is the closest I have ever booked a cruise. I just know I'm going to be saying Topsider, Lumiere's, Sessions and Rockin' Bar D and get strange looks.

ruley3: October is one of my favorite months here - unless we happen to get one of those dreadful tropical storms or hurricanes. Just keep an eye on the weather. Usually it's great in October!

I was election administrator for the City of Annapolis.. running a primary election w/12 polling areas (all public schools - which 'closed down'), 109 judges (some of whom had to leave because they had family in NY or Pentagon), and spent the day sitting in the office with reporters from the Baltimore Sun, the Election Board, and my staff - with a tv going in a board room. After the first 1 hour I refused to watch because I would not have been able to do my job.

The Board decided the election would go on.. so I had my contacts with the Democratic and Republican committees email all their lists to say that we would not let them take democracy away from us. Plead with janitors in each of the schools to stay..so that the judges could continue to run the polls and people could come in, said some choice words about the people who were calling in about "signs being stolen in front of the polling places" - by the way I am quoted in the Baltimore Sun on Sept 12th about that issue as well; and basically finished the election despite a bomb threat to city hall where we had to tally the votes at the end of the night. I was awarded employee of the Month by the City of Annapolis in Oct for running the elections on 9/11. It was the most challenging day of my career.

While I am doing this.. Mike worked for Dyncorp in DC, a few miles from the Pentagon. His building shook from the plane hitting the Pentagon. He was evacuated, but couldn't go home to MD because they closed the bridge that crosses from MD to DC, so he went to his family in Northern VA for the rest of the evening. He had been a firefighter and EMT in Jersey and done training with some of the crews in NY. He signed up to go do the rescue efforts; but was not called. We set up a memorial for them in our home in MD that stayed there for almost a year.

I cried for almost an hour yesterday trying to explain to Sianna what happened on 9/11 (in a very basic 7 year old way, so not to scare her). I think my tears were more disturbing to her than the grasp of what happened.

Anyway.. on a more fun note... our new corporation Kidrev is getting TheKidsReviews.com up and running. You will see us doing a review series on Disney and the cruise for the site with Sianna.. I would love to get opinions from different age kids on there, so if you are ok with your children appearing on video on the site talking about the Cruise, I will have permission release forms with me.

We usually go to FL in Oct or May. We have liked it both seasons and could always swim, the rates are low, etc. I prefer the Fall over the Spring just because of the crowds. One Oct we had a hurricane hit while we were there. They closed most of the parks for the day, and all the people from the shore and Keys flocked to Orlando hotels, but we had our timeshare. The restaurants filled up quickly though.
When we were there 2 years ago, the only 'crowds' we encountered in Oct was when we tried to the Halloween trick or treating at SeaWorld. Madhouse! We had gone before we cruised and it was gloriously empty.
This trip, we did Dec for 2 reasons - DD will be close to 8 and have some more freedom, and I wanted to see what the ship looked like decorated for the holidays!

Just sent in our final payment for the cruise! I can't believe it. My daughter and husband were chatting this morning on yahoo and she said, "Daddy, you want to go on our Disney cruise with us?!" Pretty soon she'll get to ask him in person because his deployment is almost over! And I can start booking things next week.

What? All this time I thought the reason you chose our Chip 'n' Dale's Cruisin' Nuts cruise is so your Chip 'n' Dale could have another magical adventure and you could write another great online photo-journal! ;)

That was just one of those really weird consequences...we booked onboard and didn't know we were 'cruisin nuts' until after we got off the ship AND I had done the 'photo journey of Chip'. Of course now I am trying to figure out what we are booking next time while we are onboard.
