So there really is an adult pool?? LOL- we never made it there either. Maybe next time

It was suggested/assumed, but no - Nothing is definite yet. They are making modifications so the ships are able to use Port Canaveral, but it would really only make sense to base one of the new ships there. My guess is they would use a new/larger ship for longer cruises and the Magic or Wonder for shorter ones. It's anybody's guess at this point. There are so many negotiations going on, and the economy constantly changing. If I ran DCL (ha-ha), I would base the new ships on the east coast and west coast (Port Canaveral and San Diego) as well as one of the older ships at each of those ports. I would also use only the new ships for any transatlantic sailings.I thought both the new ships were to be in PC and the Magic and Wonder were to go elsewhere?
Sorry to hear the bad news about your new job. Who is your employer there?Sorry I dropped off the planet as well my new job is keeping me busy busy, and I can officially say I hate it and already am looking for a replacement. As soon as I find one I am leaving it is the worst employer ever! I haven't been there 3 weeks and already had to file a complaint for harassment against a Manager! I'd quit but I want the money.
Anywho... I think having a ship in San Diego would be fun but being so close to PC I'd have to love the itinerary out there to fly across the country. But I know those who are close to the west coast will love having a ship there!
I work at the airport for a private company that does a Registered Traveler Program.
Clear? If that's the one, I'm especially sorry as it probably would have been a good job. In any case, unfortunately you never know with any company as they can always end up with a period of bad management. That has certainly happened around WDW at a few restaurants and attractions. Makes you wonder how some people end up becoming managers when they shouldn't be in those positions. I hope you find a better job soon where the working conditions will be more pleasant for you.I work at the airport for a private company that does a Registered Traveler Program.

In any case, even the first new ship won't be for at least 2 years, so I imagine there will be a lot of changes in announcements between now and then.![]()
PORT CANAVERAL, Fla., (March 19, 2008) Disney Cruise Line announced it has finalized an agreement with Port Canaveral to extend the companys current contract 15 years through 2022. In addition, as part of its continuing commitment to the Central Florida area, the company will home port its two new ships in Port Canaveral. The new agreement between Disney Cruise Line and Port Canaveral was ratified today by Port Authority Commissioners.
Yes, but that was a year ago and they have apparently contemplated many directions since then, especially in light of the changing economy. It's still possible, yes, but with other bids and negotiations in the works and the opportunity to make DCL more appealing to a wider audience (Wouldn't you rather sail on a new ship if available instead of an older, smaller ship?), the signs point to them re-thinking the basing of both ships in Port Canaveral. The reason I'm thinking that because of this announcement when Disney extended their agreement with the port authority: >>>
True. Then again, perhaps the only thing written in stone was "Disney Cruise Line announced it has finalized an agreement with Port Canaveral to extend the companys current contract 15 years through 2022." Any other part of the agreement would have to be alterable, because DCL would surely not commit to keeping both new ships based in one port despite economic and other unforseeable circumstances.Sounds to me like that would violate the agreement...but they have ways of paying that stuff off.
Ha-ha - - My thoughts about the discussion exactly!Right now...I'm considering it moot. If it causes DCL prices to drop, I'll be an even happier addicted camper!
I even got a camcorder on woot the other day just for this. I'm praying that nothing comes up that makes me have to cancel this -- but it will have to take a lot!
Now, back to positive vibes--in case this discussion was downing anyone...
